These renovations are seriously wiping me out, and I'm not doing an ounce of the work. There have been minor problems nearly every day. (I know I should just be glad they're minor). Anyway, I thought we'd be finished Friday but we might be a little behind schedule now. Still, I know it's over the halfway mark.
Please check my bio if you're interested. There's a new "Progress Pics" tab that shows the tile floors in some of the rooms. And the house has been completely de-wallpapered! Hopefully painting happens today, although I really have no idea what the schedule is anymore.
Re: AW Thursday
We're going to the Stars game tonight, courtesy of one of my students. I have both girls and their dad works for the Stars.
We get our Christmas tree on Saturday and that night we're going to see "Scrooge" on stage. Can't wait!
Marie,
When we moved to Carson City, my dad de-wallpapered the whole house as well. The hardest stuff to get off was the fuzzy damask wallpaper in one of the bathrooms. He swore they used super glue. Glad your remodeling is going so well.
Marie, I'm really happy to see all of the renovations you and your H are doing. We're looking to buy, and the house H thought he really liked would need some changes (that he calls minor -- I haven't seen the house) and the more you talk about it, the more confident I feel that we could handle it.
My new driver's license came in the mail yesterday.

Marie - It looks like everything is coming along great!
Marie - The tile looks great!
I made a replica ornament of our wedding cake. We aren't putting up a tree because of the move, but I can't wait to see it up next year.

I took Stephie's sweet potato casserole to Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved it! My grandpa even told me that "I'd like to keep the leftover's, if that's okay." Thanks Stephie!
I just recently figured out that I could have been parking closer to our office since August instead of the boonies, which means I will be able to pick up the Dallas Morning News on my way in now.
Lauren- I love the ornament! So cute!
We are, hopefully, putting up our Christmas tonight! I'm so excited! :-)
I don't really have anything to AW today though.

Lauren,
That is so cute!!!!!

Marie- I love that you are doing before and after pics. Yay for the wallpaper being off!
Lauren- That is too cute. I will have to check out your blog to see how you did it! I really dislike your blog, btw, but in a good way
I want to make everything you make from the food to DIY pojects! I made the pesto chicken the week of Thanksgiving and DH loved it and he hates basil. He could not wait for the leftovers the next day.
Julie- Have fun tonight!
I have to give my big presentation today. I met with my professor yesterday about my "first draft" which is really like the third draft. She gave me a 95 on the paper but then wrote two pages of comments...haha.
A large portion of the paper is now going to be changed to incorporate an angle I really wanted to touch on but initally didn't think was appropriate for this paper. Unfortunately, my presentation is today so I will be presenting the paper as it stood yesterday because 10 hours just really isn't enough time to make changes and sleep.
Marie - The renovations look great! Being married to a contractor is a double-edged sword. The renovations are cost efficient but he works on his own timeline in his free time, so things take for-ever-er. I am happy to see your work coming along so quickly!
Lauren - Please stop being so creative, you make everyone else look bad. I kid! I love your ornament, too cute and so nicely done!
Thanks for the positive comments, guys! I feel like I'm running on energy drinks and 2 hours of sleep, and I realllly need to be reminded this will all be worth it soon. I feel like I'm pulled in six different directions, with the painter calling about X, the floor guy calling about Y, my work of course needing my attention, checking in on the house morning and night, and my H who is stressing about his demanding work/school schedule (his final is next week ... great timing.) Oh, and appliances are getting delivered tomorrow, and this whole time I'm supposed to be packing to move in next week.
Energy drinks are my best friend right now.
I'm so glad we bought a house that we loved that just needed cosmetic changes. The houses that were all fixed up the way we wanted were about 30k more. I haven't added up the improvement costs yet, but I think it's only about 4k. So, totally worth it to fix it up ourselves. If you're interested, I might itemize our costs afterward so you can get a better idea. I know I had no idea what it would cost, and I'm pleasantly surprised that you can get it reasonably.
Marie - The tile looks great!
Lauren - What a cute ornament! You are such a creative person I would never think of even doing that.
Congrats on the good grades Leslie
My AW: we finally finished painting the office and getting the stencil on the accent wall. Now we just need to move the furtinure back in and finish decorating. This Mardi gras room was kicking our butts for a while.

We intended to de-wallpaper ourselves. But we started in the master bathroom and discovered that the top layer was easy to remove ... the three (three!) layers under that got successively harder to remove. And there was mold and old (treated) termite damage under some parts of that. It was NOT a pretty sight, and it was just too much for me, so I hired someone to take care of it. Thankfully, it was a really easy fix for a pro. (I was imagining the worst when I saw the mold, but it was NBD.)
Lauren I need to go check out this blog of yours!!
I am really excited today! I found out last night that I'm getting a $100 gift card as an incentive for taking a health assessment through our insurance, and one of the options was for amazon, so basically I'm getting the kindle that I wanted for free! That makes me so happy! Now I gotta go make a list of books I wanna get.
Thanks Jaymi! The post will be going up tomorrow! I'm glad your DH liked the pesto chicken!
Leslie - good luck on your presentation today!
Yay for the new kindle for free Angela!
Bio Good Times
Lauren - what did you make it out of? That is so cute!
I don't have much to say today - I'm stressed about my work deadlines (tomorrow) that I'm likely going to miss. I hate not meeting goals, so I'm outta here to try to make as much happen as possible!

My mom and I are going to register tonight! I'm so excited! I got an email from a family friend asking me if Jan 29th was a good date for the baby shower. It's all happening so fast. I feel like it was just last month I was telling my parents we were pregnant and now we have 12 weeks left to go! Yeah!
We have a guy coming out to paint the baby's room tomorrow. I'm so happy to have that done so I can get things going in there. I went to Hobby Lobby last night and bought the stuff for my first DIY project for her room. I'm ready to get started.
Marie, I love the tile. I'm glad everything is coming along for you.
Lauren, love the ornament
Leslie, good luck on the presentation
Nesties, I'm so excited to meet y'all Saturday. I feel like I know y'all already but now I'll actually "know" you.
Marie - I love the blog!!
If you make an itemized list, please share. DH and I are planning to buy a house in the next year or two and I'm thinking I would like to get one that has character, but needs a little work.
Leslie - Good luck - you will do awesome!
Lauren - I love that ornament. How incredibly cute!
It's the first day of the month. I'm swamped today.
Y'all Hanson announced their own beer... "mmmmhop." Haha! I'm sorry, but Taylor Hanson still makes me weak in the knees.

Lauren, that ornament is super cute!
I am so sore today but I am still going to bootcamp tonight. Every other week I have been sick or too sore so I flaked out and just went to the gym or for a walk instead of bootcamp.
I am 100% committing to getting my fitness/health back! I have been so flaky since the wedding (yes since April) in being consistent with both food and exercise. I absolutely ADORED my personal trainer in Omaha (that helped me lost almost 50lbs) and I havent been able to find anything that really motivated me since so I havent been consistent. I really enjoy the bootcamp and am willing to make the financial and mental commitment to it. I just bought 3 more months!
Tiffany, your first week of doing all three days, were you still in pain on Thur? If so, how hard was it to get through the hour? I am so worried I am not going to be able to do much since it hurts just to sit but I will still be there to do whatever I can.
Yes, I am in a constant state of soreness. Luckily, we don't do the same thing every time...so it has been pretty easy to keep it up. I have never had any trouble getting through a workout due to soreness except for the sit-up portion of the first PT test we did. I was very sore from the previous workout and could only do a handful.
I feel that way today too, so if we do a lot of abs I will struggle. My upper abs hurt so bad today that it feels like I've been punched in the ribs.
Yes, I cannot laugh without pain in my abs. My quads are so so sore, it cant squat down more than an inch or two. Seriously its a struggle to get up and down from my seat. I figure I will just give it my 100% even if with the soreness that is far less than everyone else, all that matters is that I give it my best.
Yes!! That is all that matters.
I am now in full out panic mode about this.
No reason to panic. Just come prepared to give it all that you have. Jay doesn't let anyone slack.
Agreed! It is hard, but its all about what you put into it. Just show up ready to give everything you have for that hour and thats all he asks for. It is a very encouraging environment so definitely dont panic.
Also, I just looked at the schedule for next week and realized that I have to work basketball on Tuesday night. So, I'll be missing the first night. Hopefully, Bill will still go without me.
Julie, like they said, it is an encouraging environment. As long as you are giving it your all, you are good to go. Don't worry about it. Come and have fun!
For you ladies going tonight... I don't know if they have all the trainers doing the same things across the camps each day, but this morning it was all about sprints. Oyi! We were in a parking garage so it was uphill sprints too. Good luck if you have that workout tonight.
