Re: Finally Friday

  • Brianna- I can't believe your FB post!  That woman is crazy!!

I have only taken two days of the metformin (which will hopefully help me ovulate!) and I woke up at two in the morning with terrible cramp. It hurt so bad :-(. I know this medicine is known for causing stomach issues, but I didn't expect that :-(

  • I'm a little bummed this morning. We were going to take Jack to Six Flags tonight, just the three of us. Even though there was threat of rain, we decided to still go, and this morning it looks like the weather will be PERFECT in Arlington this evening. BUT, my mom has a stomach bug and can't keep Dot, and I can't find a sitter last minute for a Friday night. We've decided to just take Dot with us, and I hope Jack won't feel like it takes the focus off of him.

  • I'm going grocery shopping here in a few minutes, and buying some new windshield wiper blades since we only have one on there LOL. Then I'm gonna sit at home and drink hot chocolate(or Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice) all day. :)

and I'm in shorts. Yep. I've lost it. :/

Are you on the regular met or the extended relief?  Metformin is the devil and I am so sorry you are having to take it.  Some people are fine taking it, others are not, sadly.  I was on it for 3 years so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I think it's just the regular. I have to take it once a day for a week and then increase to twice a day. I've only taken it for two days so far. :-(. Does it get any better? :-/

  • Even though it's not AW Day, I have one.  I have these three pairs of jeans that I love from college, but haven't been able to wear them in a while.  LIke, a couple of years, probably.  I'd considered getting rid of them, but didn't want to because I used to love how they fit - like they were made for me.  I have two pairs in one size, and one pair a size bigger.  This morning, I decided to give the larger pair a try, because I haven't even tried them on in forever.  They felt good, but by the time I got back from walking Crispin, they were falling off - so now, I'm wearing one of the smaller pairs!!!  I'm so excited.  These jeans really make me feel like I look good, and I've been missing that in my clothing for a while!
  • The last part of this week went MUCH faster than I expected. I'm so glad it's the weekend and this week is almost over. My stomach hurts really badly today and I don't know why. Probably just stress.

The new wood (actually, we ended up going with laminate) were installed yesterday, and are being finished up now.

The kitchen appliances are getting delivered today, so I'll be sitting in the empty house for two hours waiting on them today. Thank goodness for my IPhone and Nook ... they will keep me from going crazy.

Woo-hoo!! (I wanted to add a bunch of picture smileys, but apparently Apple doesn't like them.) :)

  • I'm off today, and I have so much to do, but it's all fun stuff! I need to buy food for my mom's tapas party tonight, purchase the ornament and make hummus for tomorrow, look for my outfit for my birthday party next week (90's theme!) and start Christmas shopping. Oh, and somewhere in there I need to learn how to use a camera. I'm going to be DH's second shooter for a party tomorrow, lol.

For me, it did not get better but everyone is different.  I switched to the extended release (ha, I just noticed I did put 'relief' in my earlier post- it's early! oops) about 2 years in and while it was not as bad as the regular, I was still pretty miserable.  I just could never find a balance no matter what I tried or if I did find something that worked, it didn't last long.

From my experience and reading about it online, my suggestion is to carry snacks around with you at all times [I would have to eat something at the drop of a hat] and if your body has not gotten used to it after week 1, don't be afraid to keep taking 1 tablet a day for another week or 2.  Doctors were really bad about pushing me yet not listening to me.  Just listen to your body.  I was not familiar with ginger capsules when I was on metformin but if I had to be put back on, I would definitely be taking those daily to help with the nausea and possibly look at taking a probiotic.

Also try taking your medicine on a full stomach rather than an empty one and make sure you are eating- I know, that is the last thing you want to do.  My doctor told me that if I ate the wrong things it would make me sick so I needed to stick to a healthy diet.  Well heck, everything made me sick but staying away from sugar, carbs and grease are supposed to help the situation.

  • Yeah, needless to say... it was interesting.  I was so scared that she was going to swing at me!  Not because I was worried about her hurting me, but just because I was wasn't sure how to react!  I finally told her to get away from me, keep her hands off and away from me, and step away from my car before I called the police.

If I wouldn't have been involved first hand, I wouldn't believe my own story.

  • Thanks Jaymi!  That's really helpful :-). I will try to follow that, although yea, it is hard to eat. I just don't want anything!

I don't blame you :( I hope you have a better experience that I did.  If I have to go back on to TTC, I don't know if we would go forward.

  • So glad it's Friday.  Although my week started off crappy, it got better toward the end.  Looking forward to the party tomorrow!

Brianna, that is BSC for sure.

  • Brianna - Crazy!  I think you handled it well, though.

    Sarah - :(

    Angie - awesome!!

PWAT girls - would anyone be terribly upset if I just brought a vegetable tray instead?  I'm not sure I will have time to make the pepperoni rolls.

Angie - That's awesome about your jeans!

I'm excited for the party tomorrow!  I have to head out soon to get my car inspected and oil changed.

  • On a happier note:  I finally feel alive again!  I've been down and out sick with a stomach bug the last two days.  I felt like death warmed over... but today - it's finally gone!
  • Bri - Crazy people... I guess at 70 she's thinking, "I'll say whatever I want!"

    Angie - Congrats!

I can't wait for the weekend to begin. It'll be busy, but I'm looking forward to it!

Yay!  Stomach bugs are the worst!

  • Okay Brianna that is crazy!!

Lacey I couldnt decide on what to make and it needs to be something I can make tonight so I can do bootcamp tomorrow morning.  If you think they will be okay being made tonight I would be happy to make them.

If this doesnt work out any suggestions ladies?

  • Bobbieleigh and Leslie-

You have a page on TK... from Merritt.

  • Pardon my mini vent.  I am on day 5 in 'Whineyville' and have reached the edge.  Ever since I got back from the dr on Tuesday, my CW, what little time she has been here this week, has been wailing about her own pain, how she just wants to die and I guess trying to one up herself because I'm not interested in playing the game.  The only whining I have done is on the board so not much to those around me.  It's like a Lamaze class in here with the breathing and she's made a HUGE issue about a meeting later today where we have to sit for an hour and she "just can't sit that long."  What has she been doing all morning?  That's right.  Sitting.  The production gets even bigger when certain people come around.  It's getting old.

Same here!  We have the holiday lighting festival tonight, PWAT and possibly 2 baby showers tomorrow, depending on how we feel and a kiddo's birthday party Sunday.

Congrats on fitting into college clothes, Angie. Glad they make you feel good about yourself...it's always a nice feeling!
