I'd love to ask for bonds for her instead of toys but I don't want to be 'that mom'.

I've already been 'that mom' on a number of things and this is not a fight worth fighting for her first Christmas. They want to get what they want to get and they're not going to listen to me anyway.

this exactly. if i ask for savings bonds, i will get that in addition to the actual gifts they want to give so why fight it.

Make thyself familiar with local stores return policies and get store credit. Then use it for when there is something where they show an interest. I JUST finished using store credit from last year on B. Yeah, I'm "that" person, but you already knew that, right?
