A lot of the antidepressants I took as a kid had never even been tested on anyone under 18... yeah, I def want to see the part where the reporter confronts the doctors about over-prescribing.

Yep!  I keep scrolling down looking for a response box.  Kind of weird.

    Psychotropic drugs for infants??  Jesus.

    No words.

I guess foster kids are giving these types of drugs 13 times more often than kids who are not.  The drugs they were naming off are scary.  And the ages they started is just so sad.

I think it's sad how overly medicated our society is in general, not to mention what is going on with the youth and infants.

  • Good Evening Ladies,

This is weird, being on TN - I hadn't noticed any TK glitches, but I've been off for a few hours.

How is everyone's evening going? Doing anything fun, besides this of course!

I'm just contemplating going to bed - god I am old and lame lol

  • imageBlueyed228:

Im watching Extreme Home Makeover and they did this family from probably the grossest city in the state.  Im glad they chose that city.  Those people deserve it.  The did a 2 part special because its on bullying.  One of the ladies sons killed himself because he was being bullied.

Demi Lovato sang at a concert and I confess I did her song.  Something about skyscrapers.

Still catching up in the thread here.  I just watched the second half of this!

  • At my last job, we had a 12 year old kid on a higher dose of Ability than I've ever seen an adult on.  Actually, twice as high as I've ever seen an adult on.  Yeah, let's run around and give our 12 year olds mega doses of atypical antipsychotics.  That sounds like a great idea.  Especially relatively new ones.

I'm watching FI's show so I'm not staying up to date on what's going on... Is there a particular reason they have her on a drug for schitzo?  Yikes!  10 time in 4 months!?  Most meds take several months to have effects...

Ya know though, being on here has made me re-think it, what if one view equalled each refresh? So if there were 20 people in here hitting refresh, refresh, refresh on all 5 pages, it wouldn't take too long to get to 500+ views.

At least that is what I'm telling myself so I can sleep at night.

Seroquel is prescribed for a bunch of different reasons now, but I can't see any good reason to put a 7 year old on it.  WTF.  And changing ANYONE'S meds 10 times in 4 months is ridiculous.   Jeepers.  That's insane.

  • My brother was put on Ritalin for his ADHD. He was 6. It really upset me. HE'S 6. OF COURSE he isn't paying attention. I feel like it was easiest for my mother to just dope him up than actually raise him.

It wasn't until he developed a nervous tick that they took him off. He was clearing his throat and having throat/neck spasms, and was getting bullied at school.

  • Hopefully TK gets its sheeit straightened out!  I am going to have to watch the ABC kids + medication issue online tomorrow.  I am beat.  Goodnight all!

  • Yup, that's my H.  He always got mad hearing my work med stories.  They had one kid on a dose of antidepressant that was twice the highest recommended (and studied) dosage FOR ADULTS.  WTF.  H said he would have refused to fill it.  I don't get how this crap gets past.

This is sad, but they just showed one kid who was on serious stuff and he hung himself.  Even Walgreens Pharmacy sent a letter to the Dr who prescribed the drugs asking if he was sure this was the right dose.  And he had only spent 5 min with the kid.  Total.

  • Reading back a bit: I don't understand how they can change her meds 10 times in 4 months. Don't most medication take a minimum of 3-4 weeks to fully take effect? So, unless she had a SEVERE negative reaction to all of them, shouldn't they have waited a little longer before switching her regimen?
  • When my brother was 6 my parents used to send him outside to run laps around the house when he got too energetic inside the house.  He used to eat standing up at the table because "he worked better that way".  They never had to drug him.

  • Seriously. He was on it for 4 years. It makes me really sick to my stomach thinking about it. He had the damn spasm thing for over a year before anyone decided it was bad enough to rethink the medication thing.

Now he's at a special school for ADHD kids in the city and that's doing so much good for him, I can't even tell you.
