Its supposed to snow here next weekend. Im SO EXCITED!! we got some snow on Tuesday but it was really wet snow that didnt stick.

We're forecasted to get less than an inch from the 'storm' coming through right now.  It all went south/southwest of us.  I bet J ends up wtih at least 3-4 inches.  I'm jealous.  It's December, so I'm officially accepting of snow now. ha

Plus, I'll be honest. I want to watch the puppies galavant through the deep snow. haha

We only got about a 1/2 inch.  Lame.  I want snowman weather.

  • Vinnie in the snow is one of my favourite things in life, he gets so blissed out.

  • Cookies??

Snickerdoodles are my favorite, year round.  http://allrecipes.com/recipe/mrs-siggs-snickerdoodles/

I always put cinnamon in the cookies too though.  That yumminess should not be just on the outside.

Nope, not too far from Rapids.  I graduated '06, so not too far off from one another. Do you ever come back to Marshfield?  You should let me know when you do, we could g2g!  I honestly don't know anyone from there.  I didn't hang out with people outside of Rapids much

I didn't really hang out with anyone outside Marshfield either... haha I come home once in awhile.  I was home last weekend for Thanksgiving. Can't pass up the cheap booze!  I'll be home for Christmas too, but probably only the 24th-26th...

  • What IS a snookerdoodle? I see them online all the time but ive never had one.

  • Hmmm I'll be in Rapids 23rd-26th... would you be free to grab lunch on the 26th?

If a plain old sugar cookie made love to a cinnamon and sugar doughnut...  snickerdoodle cookies would be the result.  Delish!

Me too! and nutmeg.  Holy crap I love snickerdoodles.  But I can't really eat them anymore (gluten and all). Still worth it, though, I think. ha

  • A snickerdoodle (sometimes called Cinnamon Sugar Cookie) is a wonderful invention.  Regular sugar cookie with some cream of tartar in it (adds a fun flavor) rolled around in a cinnamon sugar blend before baked.  Absolutely glorious.

Maybe?  We need to get back semi-early so we can pick the dogs up that day.  We'll probably have to leave around 1 at the latest... Would you be willing to come up to Marshfield? (Rapids is the opposite direction for me...)

  • Dammit. Why have I never had a snookerdoodle?! it sounds delicious!

  • Yeah Steph, I'd be happy to! We can talk about it as it gets closer for sure, I'm headed out to the reception.  Have a good night ladies!

Make sure they are the soft ones, that are almost not done in the middle.  HEAVEN!!!!

But then again, I'm not much of a crisp cookie fan anyway.

  • I Loooooooooooove soft cookies. I alwas under cook my chocolate chippies because I love them soft in the centre.

  • I am not a crispy cookie person, either, unless they are Oreos.

Soft cookies are 1000x better .

  • Most snickerdoodles (well all cookies) are over cooked and it makes me upset.

Subway actually has some pretty good snickerdoodles in the spring time. The outside edges are a little crunchy, but the insides are super soft.

  • There is a reason that nuts don't belong in cookies. They are meant to be soft and not crunchy.

  • Snickerdoodles are hard to bake kind of.  Like, it's super easy to burn them.  it took me awhile to trust that I could take them out of the oven before they were golden.
  • So, H's grandma is 87 and getting kind of forgetful.  H was on the phone and told her our anniversary is next weekend. She said, "You just got married in September, you nitwit."  I love her. :)

  • Did I ever tell you guys what my grandma did when she first met H?  We had only been dating like 2 months at the time (we were 18.)  He came home with me for a wedding and 'got' to meet half the extended family at once.  My grandma out of nowhere goes "you've got such a nice tan!"  (yeah.... he's half black.)

He just laughed it off, but I was so embarrassed.  It's the ongoing joke now. ha

  • Steph, we are celebrating Saturday by going to dinner downtown somewhere that H is picking out and exchanging gifts at home earlier that day.

On our actual anniversary on Sunday, he's heading to Cincy to go to a football game with his dad and I'm making one of his favorite dishes (chicken lasagna) for when he gets home.

ETA: I love grandmas...even when they say nutty stuff.  Was your H offended when she said that?

  • lol omg steph! that is too much. My mom always jokes about going outside to tan and I always give her dirty looks.

  • No, he just thought it was hilarious.  Knowing him now, I know he wouldn't be offended at all (he's probably the most offensive person I know. haha)  But at the time, we hadn't really talked about any of that race stuff yet, so I was paranoid.

OMG.  it snuck up on me.  Thank you!  I totally thought i had an extra week at least before our anniversary.  Shoot!  I've got to find the belt I'm getting him.

Totally understandable.  I probably would have wanted the floor to open and swallow me up.  When my nephew was 3-ish, my sister was at a restaurant with him and he asked why someone was brown. He said it pretty loud and she wanted to die.

  • By the way, I really want a damn snickerdoodle now.
  • Haha Steph and Duds, grandparents are so 'precious'.

Last time H and I went to my grandpa's he invited us to lunch. We show up to his house and he offers us these tuna fish sandwiches that have been made and sitting out for hours.

I didn't have the heart to remind him we were vegetarian so I just made up that we already had eaten. He had a brain fart (or was being really stubborn) and offered us the sandwiches about 100 more times in a 45 minute period. It was SO awkward and Twilight Zone-ish. H is a trooper with my family.
