Do you have any big plans for 2012?
What kind of plans do you have for 2012?
Are you going back to school? TTC? Traveling to some cool spot?
Buying a new house?
What is on your agenda for next year?
Re: Do you have any big plans for 2012?
DH is taking 7 months of paternity leave (woohoo!!!!!) so that he can spend time with DD and I can get some serious work done on my dissertation. During that time, we are planning a 5-month stay in the US with my parents. We had always planned to go to the US for a couple of years, but I don't know if that will work out career-wise, so this is the next best thing.
We will also start TTC #2 this spring and hope for a winter baby 2012/2013.
Ummm...2012 is a bit up in the air. The one thing I do know we're doing is traveling as much as possible around Europe, since it might be our last year here.
So...2012 = maybe moving home, maybe staying in Europe, maybe another expat assignment somewhere else in the world. traveling as much as possible. maybe TTC.
Honestly...the only definite thing we have planned is the Olympics.
Not too many plans. DH and I already have plans for a long weekend in Melbourne in January, and two weddings to go to in February, a week apart. And we have a trip to Canberra planned to see a friend sometime before June.
And I know I want to go home for Christmas/New Years 2012/2013 -- my Dad is retiring after 33 years with the company, and I want to be home for his retirement party.
September 2012 marks the date I can start working on my permanent visa, so that will be on the list of things to do and we want to get bookshelves for my library. And DH wants a surround system for our house. But it will probably mostly be made up as we go along.
Yes, huge plans to get back on my feet financially, get a better job (fingers crossed for a judicial clerkship!), pass the NJ Bar, and move out of my parents house!
Also planning a trip to "hick town" to see Sheks, Mr. Sheks and Baby Sheks--get that moonshine and tailgate ready Sheks!
2012 will be a huge year for us, first off of course I will give birth to baby no2, possibly around the same time we will head home or extend our contract here. If we head home we will need to sell our house and find somewhere bigger, if we stay here we will be getting used to life as a bigger family and trying to travel with a toddler and baby!
I am tired just thinking about it!
Bite your tongue, this is not a hick town!
Okay, so maybe some parts are, but not where she is, I promise
We are probably going back to the UK in the summer, DS is starting pre-k in the Fall, and we have to figure out where. We would also like to take a trip out West.
Looks like 2012 is the year we TTC.
Hold me, I'm scared
I have trips booked to Prague in February, Budapest in March and Portugal in May for a friend's wedding. G-d willing, I'll get pregnant again and I'm still holding out hope for a 2012 baby. We're applying for British citizenship at some point next year as well.
We're waiting to plan our big trip next year as DH is sending in abstracts for conferences in China and Brazil for next fall and we're hoping one of them works out (neither are obvious ones he would be invited to but we're very keen to travel more!)
BFP Apr 2012, EDD Dec 19 2012 * twin h/b at 6wk, 9wk scan * Baby A lost at 12wks, Baby B was my rainbow born at 36wks
We are applying for our ILR, still TTC, I am still hoping for a 2012 baby, travelling to Holland in April and a few other trips to Spain, Malta and maybe Japan. Depends on how successful we are at TTC!
I have high, high hopes for 2012:
- Moving to Paris
- Finishing my outstanding book projects (1 translation under contract now, 2 creative projects in progress)
- Taking a 10th wedding anniversary trip in the summer (either Corsica or the running of the bulls in Pamplona, as spectators, not runners)
- TTC
All in that order, I think. But despite our logical side, DH and I have been wondering more and more if we're actually going to wait until summer to TTC.
I honestly don't know. DH and I have been in a rough patch now and life is turned around, mainly why I haven't been posting much lately.
I'm not sure if I'll be staying in Switzerland or moving back to the US, or something else. Separation/divorce even seems possible at this point. TTC is definitely out of the picture.
I'm so sorry. I hope you guys are able to work this out.
Youre right, which is why I'm making her take me to her family's Gulf shore house for some boondockin' good times! If I wanted hick in GA, I'd go to Conyers, not Atlanta!
Sorry things are rough ktkl.
We hope to find a house with garden in 2012.
If we get said house, then get a dog.
Travel plans include Vietnam in the early Spring and other destinations around Europe throughout the year. Not sure yet if I'll make a trip back to Canada in summer 2012.

If we win first prize in the Spanish Christmas lottery, we'll start TTC. Otherwise that will have to hold off until the work situation is a bit more stable.
Other than that, I seriously hope I'm able to renew my grant to continue teaching. We'll be visiting the US this summer since SIL is giving birth in March. I hope to take DH to Atlantic Canada where I went to university. "Problem" is that Dad is dying to go too so no chance for fun romantic trip there! Oh well, more fun in family and we can pressure DH into trying poutine.
Haha, that makes sense! As someone whose family has a house in the panhandle in Florida I can totally agree with this!
Had to laugh at this!! You'll be fine... and babies are very forgiving - they know no better!
Our plans for 2012 are along these lines:
I'm doing a 4 day week for 3 months (Feb-Apr) which I can't wait for. DH also keeps talking about buying a house, though I'm quite happy where we are at the minute. Currently own an apartment which we rent out and we rent a house. This suits my risk averse nature perfectly whereas a mortgage right now would have me highly stressed out I think... (also I don't think a bank would lend to us and don't feel like being rejected!!)
In the summer (August) we might go for a trip to the UK. A friend of DH is talking about us all going to Wales (they are in London and have a 2mth old daughter) and renting a house. We would get a ferry over so we'd have our car. Might also drive to Bournemouth to visit my SIL who moved there recently. We could do both in the same trip.
We are talking about ttc #2 next year also. DH wants to start in March though I'd love to get pregnant in May so I'd have a spring baby again (and be on maternity leave for the summer again more importantly!!)
Sending lots of vibes your way. Hopefully, it is just a rough patch that all relationships go through from time to time. Dont stay away too long. We can do our best to cheer you up.
ktkl - {{hugs}} Hope you and DH are able to work things out and figure out what's best for you.
For us, I'm still hoping for a 2012 baby. After a slow fall, we're also planning on more travel in the first half of the year. Maldives, Italy, Amsterdam, and maybe back to Spain and perhaps Japan and/or China. We will also start thinking more about the "stay or go" decision.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
Ktkl - sorry to hear that, I hope you can work things out or be happy with whatever you want the outcome to be.
I'm planning on moving to back to the states finally. It's not 100% yet but it feels like the right thing. I've just got to figure out timing /save money/ decide if I should renew my UK visa in March or not!
So it's quite exciting and very scary... I know it will be sad to leave London after almost 8 years but I'm really ready for whatever is next! So with that will come a new job, new house, etc!!
ktkl09--Sorry things are in a bad place right now. Hope '12 will bring positive results. Unrelated, I also owe you a huge apologize for not sending out a package. I'm hugely embarrassed by my own lack of getting-togetherness. I will get it on it.
To answer the question, no big plans yet. I'm looking at jobs back home-- probably not going back yet, but am keeping an eye out. In a similar non-committed vein, haven't firmed travel plans, but hope to visit Israel this year.
My niece is graduating hs in May (and, randomly, applying to my alma mater), hope to go home for that.
Ktkl - Things will get better in 2012 : )
My big plans for 2012? Well, in January my FI is going to come see me after (what will be) 5 long months apart. Then, about 3 1/2 months after he leaves I'm getting married ( : D : D : D : D) and moving to England.
2012 is a big year for me : )
