I will never be okay with the government knowing private information without my permission. This is far to big brother for me.
But they do and think they should when it comes to a public health issues. Certain information is automatically turned over such as infectious diseases, individuals with AIDS, etc. I don't think vaccinations should be anything different because breakouts of measles, mumps, rubella, is a public health issues which can affect the entire country. I understand your concern about the government but really they are just attempting to protect the public...as they should.
I am not okay with them tracking individuals. But really tracking my child Who is vaced is even more ridiculous. Considering this means they are in effectively tracking.
If this was actually a huge concerns the state and country as a whole would be doing it or trying to. But this is a city/town regulation. So someone from Drexel hill can easily be unvaccinated and come into the city daily and not be tracked.
Also they only track children whose peds are in Philadelphia.
since this is making me curious i am going to look back at the bajillion forms that i signed at the hospital. i have a feeling i probably signed something that said the info could be released without reading or caring about it at the time.
it doesn't really bother me one way or the other. i am just curious if it is in the fine print on something like a pp said.
I went through all our ped info and nothing mentioned it. But not clue about the hospital.
can you imagine if there was no record of who was immunized and there was a pandemic? they would have no idea what neighborhoods to target treatment too. triage would be a mess.
lives would be loss.
you are a responsible and loving parent, but there are many many who are not in this world.
the government needs to step in in these cases.
further, if they know that there are clusters in the city were kids are not seeing dr's or being vaccinated then they can get aid to those areas with mobile units.
its really about saving lives and not some unfounded conspiracy theory. you have provided zero proof that they are using the records for harm. until you see evidence that the government is doing something diabolical with the info i wouldn't be so upset.
No i am okay with my doctor keeping a record. that should be sufficient. not to mention if i NEVER took my kid to a doctor (more likely if you are anti vax/ anti well visits) there would be no record.
