No offense I'm sadden by this news! DH and I are huge mavs fans and not only will the Kardashin crap come here, but he is an old, barely talented player. We will be luck to get one good year out of him. I don't know what Cuban was thinking. I hate to think of what all those camera crew around here will do. I'm just glad I don't have to go into Dallas anymore.

I totally agree, Deepthi. I just keep thinking about him storming off the court and taking off his Lakers jersey when the Mavs blew them out last year -- what a punk.
While I really dislike the attention the Kardashians get, Khloe is definitely my favorite. I am pretty scared of what E! is going to do to Dallas, though.

Re: Kardashians - Khloe has always been my favorite and always will be. She holds an extra special place in my heart now for being open about her fertility struggle and not hiding it like so many stars. With AMR in bankruptcy, we could use a boost to our local economy and a show of that popularity coming here will infuse some money into the area. I don't mind Lamar coming here at all.
I have to finish my final draft of my major paper tonight. My professor gave me a 95 on the inital draft but also gave me two pages of comments including removing and completely re-writing a section and some mentions of "finding additional scholarship." I currently have forty sources, I feel like additional scholarship is unneccesary at this point.
You would think after the foul and the full disrespect he showed there would no way in the world Dallas would ever pick him up. I better stop talking about this.. we got really pissed off when we first found out.

Reality TV is not new to Dallas. The Kardashians will just be the most popular show we have had but it will still be fine.
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge basketball fan. I'll root for the Mavs just like I'll still root for the 76ers, but I'm not an avid watcher. What you said reminded me of T.O. He disrespected the Cowboys star and then seasons later he was playing for them. I guess it's always interesting who owners will want to pick up.
Side note: I wasn't a fan of Khole and Lamar, I didn't think their marriage would last with how fast they got married. But after catching some of their show, I really like them together and I hope she can get get pregnant soon.

When you take it upon yourself to call, please be prepared. It's very frustrating when you call to get in a class but you don't know which section you want in. It's even more frustrating when you don't even know what class you want in.
RE the Kardashian's coming to Texas: At first I was really annoyed because they are everywhere however Leslie has a very good point about the economy and really, how much is this show going to affect me personally. It won't. But if it has to be one of the Kardashian's, I'm glad it's Khloe as she is my favorite as well. I can't comment on Lamar's skills as I don't pay that much attention to sports anymore.

I need change in my life. Big change. I'm fairly sure I have hit rock bottom in my professional life.
Also, I fail to see how having Kardashians here would help the economy. I really don't see it making an impact, if it did, it would be very marginal at best. They will do their thing here just like they do wherever they did before. It doesn't really affect much else, IMO.

A show like that has many people who do production and they bring with them money to live here, eat here, shop here, etc. While Khloe Kardashian herself will not impact the economy much the people who work on the show will. It might not be a huge billion dollar impact but even if twenty people (low-end) come with the show, they could make an impact.
In general, I love the K-clan. The way I feel about it is that Kris Jenner knows this won't last forever as they don't have enough talent to make that happen. She is squeezing every penny out of them she can right now to set them all up for life. They are young and these last five years of AW-ing everywhere will keep their family in money for a very long time. They play the game very well and while they are sometimes terrible influences, I applaud them for giving themselves a leg up.
Give yourselves a leg up. Fine. Making a mockery out of marriage when there are others who want to be married but can't be? Not fine. I don't care for them, I don't really want them here either. Twenty people temporarily living here isn't going to have any sort of impact when you're talking about a huge corporation like AMR.

My dad and brother haven't really had any Christmas spirit the past three years. They also haven't had a Christmas tree. Bill and I are going to get one for them on Saturday morning, surprising them with it, having breakfast with them and watching a Christmas movie. Here's to hoping it doesn't backfire!!!!!

I really wasn't kidding when I said progress reports go home the day before break starts. Some of you really won't be having a very happy holiday. Maybe, I don't know, study?
Jaymi... things with meat, lots of meat. Wrap cocktail sausages in bacon, secure with a toothpick. Put them in a baking dish and sprinkle heavily with brown sugar - at least half a cup. Bake about an hour, then put in a crock pot to keep them warm. Unhealthy? Yes. Delicious & "heavy"? Yes!
I just found out that at some point during my vacation for the next two weeks, I'll have to work from home. I'm pretty frustrated about this, because I worked my tail off for the last two weeks so I wouldn't have to. And, I have no idea when it will be, so that's doubly annoying.
I don't have an opinion on the Kardashians... I don't like reality tv, so I never watch.
I felt this way right before I got this job. I was looking into different programs, taking personality, career tests, and pulling all my contacts. If you like the field you're in see what you can do to expand your knowledge on it maybe that will help, if not, see if you can go a completely different direction that might make you happier.

DH told me last night that they are wanting to roll out a new software something on Jan. 1 so he may be working on the 31st.
This is why I'm sad! I'm a huge JJ fan. I told DH we were going to have to find a way to go to the game Jan 25 just so I can see him again. I think Lamar is a good player and the fact that he can play any position will help and we will have a strong team. I think his display last year was just emotional. I honestly don't have a lot against Odom. I'm glad it's him and not Gasol, Paul, "the king" or any of those with huge attitudes that think they are better than the team.
I'm not a huge Kardashian follower but I agree Khole is my favorite. I think their show actually makes them look more down to earth than the rest of the clan. I don't think it will make a huge difference whether the show will be filmed here or not.
See, I doubt they would bring a show here. Isn't the main focus of most of their shows starting a store (I haven't watched every season)? I'm not sure what their price point is but I don't know that a Dash store would be very successful in Dallas.
I personally think they use the reality show(s) to infuse some money into their other business ventures that they can maintain to keep making money once the reality show ends.
I don't agree with the notion that she intentionally got married and then divorced for media attention. I think they rushed in. I also think it could happen to anyone, gay or straight, if you rush in. I believe that if gay marriage was legal you would have instances like this it just wouldn't be such a big ordeal. KWIM?
ETA: Brain fart. I forgot Khloe and Lamar have their own show too. I was thinking of a Kardashians take Dallas type show.

I do think that she got married just because she wanted to have something like her sisters. To just marry the first guy that comes along is pretty stupid. And I think that there are a lot of people who rush into marriage (hey, my uncle 8 or 9 times) but shouldn't every one deserve the chance to rush into marriage? I just think it's ridiculous that she gave it 72 days when, according to everything I heard, there were tons of signs. And, at 72 days--which isn't even three months--she didn't even try counseling. If he beat her, that's one thing but her attitude is one that says "I don't really care, I'm not going to try, All I care about is my life and what I want to do." If she wanted to be a responsible celebrity that people apparently look up to, then she should have gone to counseling. But she didn't and she's not.
I never accepted TO. I never liked him either. Overrated. IMO.
However, I am not as fanatical a Mavs fan as some of you. I think I'll reserve judgement on Lamar.

Re the Kardashians/Lamar: I don't really mind if they bring their show here. I like Khloe and I think their show is more "real" than any of the other Kardashian shows. As far as Lamar...I have no clue as to his basketball skills, but I'm sure his poor sportsmanship was just bad judgment based on his emotions at that time. I hope he works out for the Mavs.
