What was your favorite subject in high school?

It doesn't have to be the one you got the best grades in, just the one you enjoyed the most.

Drama/theatre - it was so much fun. I took some sort of drama class each year in high school.

As for more academic classes, my favorite was chemistry, mostly because I had an awesome teacher who made it fun.

Probably a tie between English and Spanish, because I was so good at them Big Smile

But seriously, probably Spanish--I had some great teachers, got to go on some amazing trips (to Spain and Argentina, my first trips out of the U.S.), and really expanded my horizons in a lot of ways.

Definitely math and especially algebra. I feel lucky that I'm now in a job where I get to do a lot of math each day (as a data analyst).

In middle school it was Geography. I had a great teacher, and she was the reason I went on to major in Geography in college.

In high school, it was European History. I loved learning about Tudor/Elizabethan England, and it's still something I'm passionate about today. I wish I could just sit all day and read about European history.

History (US and European) was definitely my favorite. I also really liked French and English.

OK, I was pretty much a nerd and liked just about every subject except for physics. I hated physics.

I know what you mean! European History wasn't offered in our school since I went to a smaller private school. I think I would have loved it, if I could have taken it.

I have a secret pipe dream of going back to school to get a Phd in History.

World History! I had the BEST teacher, he made it super interesting and I looked forward to class everyday.

French was a close second for my freshman and sophomore years, but my junior and senior years I had a terrible teacher (she even smelled bad) and I liked it a lot less.

I really enjoyed my business class. I don't think it was the context but the teacher made it fun. We leaned a lot but it didn't feel like it because it was more of an open forum type.

Art History. We had a great art program and the Art History teacher was great. Probably why several of the people in my class ended up majoring in AH in college. Also, I liked math.

Required class - history. I loved all my teachers and I was good at it.

Elective - Photography. We basically were given assignments on Monday and let loose for the rest of the week. Good times!

Advanced biology in my soph year. I had the BEST teacher (she later won NJ teacher of the year) and my BFF was my tablemate. Learned SO much, loved that class.

I hated HS. Not enough therapy to make me want to relive any other part of it.

Ceramics. I freaking loved ceramics. At least once a year I look in to taking a community class and then forget. Throwing on the wheel is so much fun.

In terms of actual academics, probably history. I had some really fantastic history teachers in high school and went on to major in it in college (doubled with art history).

Science, especially Adv Biology. I had a great teacher who put a lot of work into making the classes interesting and relevant. It was what drew me into the field and my interest in Genetics.

I also liked English because I loved reading and I had a great Spanish teacher who was also really into the subject matter that made it a great class.

i have always been an artsy, geeky person. except for having a bad teacher in high school i loved my art classes, history and french were pretty close behind. i went to college for fine arts and some my favorite classes were architecture/industrial design history, photography, and graphic design.

I liked a lot of my high school classes - academically, I think my favorite one was AP European History. I loved my teacher, and the subject. I ended up majoring in history in college, and placed out of a survey class due to my AP credit, and also felt really prepared for my classes.

I also really liked physics. I had always taken honors science classes until I failed chemistry (and damaged school property). So I got demoted to non-honors physics senior year. But it was awesome. I learned a lot, we did a lot of hands-on projects and I ended up getting 104% in the class.

Non-academic classes - I loved my journalism/litmag/yearbook classes. I edited all three of them at some point during high school, and really enjoyed having class time to spend on them. Plus, I got to go to New York for the Columbia student journalism competition, and that was awesome.

Spanish for sure. I had awesome teachers and picked it up quite quickly and naturally. They cultivated my love for the language and are a large part of why I majored in it in college. A close second favorite is art. I took an art class almost every year of high school. I loved it and was good at it. At one point I seriously considered studying fashion design.

AP Economics. My teacher wasn't terribly inspiring but it was just a whole new way for me to look at why people do the things they do.

Unfortunately, I've come to find out that learning about economics is far more interesting to me that actually applying that.

Academic - biology

Non-academic - Art. I wish I would have went to a school with a fantastic art program... we went to the high school art show at the school in our current neighborhood last year, and it was really phenomenal. I couldn't get over how great some of the pieces were.

I really liked band, too - but more for the social aspect than the actual music.

Art in general, but ceramics in particular, and comparative religon. Math and physics were definitely not at the top if my list, but I ended up being an engineer. Go figure.

It's pretty hard to pick. I really liked school (add me to the nerd list), at least the humanities classes (I don't so much like science & math, although now that I say that, there were certain courses I enjoyed). Overall, I guess I'd pick English. My school had great English teachers.

My math classes with Mr. Hine. It was the "honors" track, so our group of students were all in the same classes together every year, with the same teacher, and he was fantastic - challenging, fun, humorous, and f-ing brilliant. It was fun to have the familiarity of the group, too. I struggled to keep my math grades in the high 80s, but I wouldn't do it any differently - I loved the challenge.
