Let's talk raises.

Re: Let's talk raises.

  • I think j got 6.5% last year but our raises happen in march so we will see. DH has a coworker who got an offer at another company about 6 months ago. DHs boss promoted him so he wouldn't leave, he got a 40% raise and promoted to manager. He comes to work in a wifebeater, cusses his girlfriend out on the phone so everyone can hear, when their boss isn't there he just leaves. He just got another offer for 10% more than what he is making now and DH thinks boss will make another counteroffer. I think DH needs to find a new job, or at least get an offer somewhere so he can make close to six figures and do nothing all day (eyeroll). ETA I wanted to clarify that I'm not whining about my 6.5%, I got this job after 2 paycuts and 4 layoffs at my last job. I was happy and put the whole thing in my 401k.

  • I can't really comment on my work history since I've only been working for 3 months, but H hasn't had a raise in 5 years and health insurance costs have gone up every year, so he's actually making less money.  I'd be ecstatic over a 4% raise.
