So.  The Iraq was is over.

"Overnight the war in Iraq officially ended after nearly 9 years, 4,476 US military deaths and 800 billion dollars."  Ann Curry

I don't know how history is going to be able to count the civilian deaths.

Best of luck to Iraq, and may our nation never go to war over false information again.

    Amen, sister.

  • Amachuta, I'm so sorry.

My DH called me this morning to tell me his friend passed away last night unexpectedly. He is more of a friend of DH's cousin, but we all hang out. Went on vacation as a big group a couple of summers ago. My DH's cousin called him to let him know. My heart is just breaking for his wife and girls. He was only 43!

I'm so sorry. :(  T & P to you and your family and friends!

Thanks D&M.  I just cannot stop thinking about his poor wife and girls.  He went to the ER last night since he was not feeling well.  They found that he had a lung infection of some sort.  In the course of everything, his heart failed.  I just cannot imagine having to leave the hospital without my husband...and THEN having to go home and tell the kids what happened.  Sorry to go on about it....my brain just is on overload with all of it.  Sad

Heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.

    Sad

I know what you mean.  Remember when that baseball fan took his 6 year old to a Rangers game earlier this year, and ended up dying at the game?  It took me a while to get that out of my head (if it's even out now...probably not.)  It's traumatizing.

It's got to be because I put myself in that man's wife's place, and cannot picture how I could get over something like that.

And did you guys hear about that 16 yr old boy and his 13 yr old sister driving home from Coopersville school yesterday?  They rear ended a bus and both died.  I cannot handle hearing about stuff like this without crying.  I cannot imanige what their mom is going through.

    So much tragedy lately.  Crying

I am typing through my tears...thanks D&M for making me cry! Stick out tongue I cried last night when I heard about the siblings...then cried harder when I found out the mom came upon the scene of the accident. I agree with you too about putting myself in the wife's place. So very sad. And the girls without their dad....

  • On a lighter note...I just made 70 (well, 69...I had to taste test!) Banket Bars (almond pastry) for a cookie exchange tonight. Half off the time Noah was sleeping and the other half he was awake and an absolute gem! I love days where he has fun playing by himself. I love hearing him "talking" to the cat, laughing at something, or banging on his xylophone. Fun stuff! Also, the Banket bars=yummy!

  • Yum for Bankets.

Oh, sensitive friends.  I know.  Human tragedy and loss is so hard.  I don't know about you guys, but I got even more sensitive after I had babies of my own.  Sometimes the reminders of how precious life is are all too terrible.

  • SS knew one of the kids killed in the crash. He was a junior, 2 grades ahead, and also a Mentor at the school. G said that school was unusually quiet. I stopped up there this AM and all the kids were getting white ribbons to wear today.
