What's on your menu for Christmas dinner? Do you do the same thing every year or switch it up?
We typically just repeat Thanksgiving dinner in my family and add a leg of lamb for variety.
This years dinner will likely be H's last home cooked meal for a while. Plus, pork is outlawed where he is going so he asked for a Big fat ham. After that I'm at a loss. I'll probably do lamb chops for myself.
So far:
Ham
Lamb ( chops)
Cornbread dressing
Collard greens
Corn
I need one more side- not sure what yet.
Re: Christmas Dinner menu
We go to my sister's every year (Christmas Eve) and she "inherited" it from her Italian MIL. Because of that it's a very seafood-oriented Rhode Island/ Italian feast with:
Stuffed Shrimp
Clam Stuffies
Oysters-someting
Lobsters
Pasta Agli Oglio
Lasagna (for the kids, and me, who don't eat most of the other stuff....)
I think that's it?
After having Ryan we invited both sides of the family to our house. So we combine some of each of our family traditions/menus.
Ham, turkey, baked ziti, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pineapple salad, green salad, dill pickles, and desserts.
A good, homemade mac n cheese?
We do:
Steak (Christmas eve)
Ham (Christmas day)
Salad
Mac n Cheese
Family Recipe Fruit Salad
Deviled eggs
Relish tray (olives, cheeseball, crackers, onions, etc.)
Lil smokies
Shrimp Cocktail
Cooking is at least a half-day affair, so things like smokies and shrimp are appetizers to snack on
Homemade vegetable and beef soup
Tortellini Soup
Artisan cheese and meat plate from a local cheese shop
Ciabatta rolls
Smoked Turkey with tarragon sauce (soooo good)
Spinach Dip
BLT salad

I'm the odd man out here. We don't do a big Christmas dinner...we do a big Christmas brunch.
My parents started this when I was younger. We always did Christmas with just our immediate family (so only 5 of us) and a huge fancy dinner didn't sound like any fun. So after we get done opening presents we have a big breakfast.
In the past we have done scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, maybe some ham steaks fried, toast and jelly...stuff like that.
This year I scaled back some and we're just doing scrambled eggs, biscuits, bacon, and maybe some hash browns.
It's just us so we may do something fancy like lobster or crab on Christmas Eve and then we're going to friends for Christmas Day. I do a big meal for NYE though and wanted to recommend these sweet potatoes with carmelized apples. I made them last year and they were yummy.

My aunt is doing prime rib and ham with baked potatoes and veggies. She makes pretty much the same thing every year.
On Christmas Eve, we have my dad and his gf (and sometimes SIL) over and I make a roast in the crockpot. That's the meal I'm really looking forward to.
Jealous. I eat very little seafood, but I could eat stuffies every day.
I have no idea what we're doing for Christmas Eve dinner. MIL might make spaghetti. There will be apps and ham sandwiches at GFIL's.
My family does a big Christmas breakfast with Swedish sausage, scrambled eggs (with cheese), cinnamon rolls, fruit, and cranberry punch.
Christmas Day dinner is either roast beef or lamb and a bunch of sides (rolls, salad, veggies, potatos, etc.)

Christmas eve we are making these white green chile enchiladas with homemade beans and rice and a salad.
Christmas Day at the in laws, probably prime rib (neither DH nor I like prime rib, I know we are strange). Spanakopita, Cheesy Potatoes, Rolls, and other things?
For back up the next day or christmas day if we can't make it to dinner

a family spinach dish that we have always used for holidays (spinach and oatmeal)
