silly play doh question

do you allow your kids to mix colors?

my husband can't stand for the colors to get mixed.  i don't really care.  i wouldn't do it myself, but its the first thing my daughter does, she mashes all the new stuff together.

her teacher is adament in school about playing with only one color at a time and no mixing.

do you care?

Re: silly play doh question

  • I let her.  At school, that's actually how they teach them tat red and blue make purple, etc.

However I do usually only give her 1/8 or 1/4 of the whole thing so that next time, there is still some playdoh left!

Also, if you make it yourself, then you don't have to worry about it - you can always make more!

  • I allow only one color at a time. Its a thing I have always had. If not it gets brown. I also have to clean all the things out before I put them away too

  • I try to keep the colors separate and that lasts 5 minutes. Each girl gets 1 color and they inevitable get mixed into some ugly concoction. And even though I spread out a mat, I find hard pieces of the ugly concoction in my carpet hours later.

  • i let her do her thing (mix them all together). i feel like its the same as her peeling EVERY sticker off a new sheet or book of stickers & using them all at once. it keeps her busy & entertained and that's the whole point.

  • Yes, I do. They're already limited at preschool with just one color at a time, and so I let them do whatever at home.

I do make my own playdoh at times, so I can just tint it one or 2 colors and it's not so bad when they mix it......

  • I teach K - I make my own playdough for the classroom, Each month it's a different color. I can't stand mixing of colors.
  • LOL. I used to care and then I realized I have way too much going on to worry about trivial crap like that.

In fact, for Hanukkah M got a playdoh toy that mixes colors for you. (well it teaches him red+blue=purple, etc

  • She's a kid, it's her play doh, she can do what she wants. So yes, it gets mixed.
