Re: It's only Tuesday
I know! :-(. Also, I ate top much yesterday and feel bloated and gross today! And I didn't like the number on the scale :-(
But yesterday was a really good day because I loved my secret Santa gift and got an unexpected bonus at work! Now I can actually buy DH a present but don't know what to get him :-/. I am super excited for Christmas eve so I can give my brother his present!

Chelsea,
I understand what you mean. That was me last Christmas, though admittedly it was my choice going to Disney World before Christmas with my brother and NYC after Christmas with my MOH, but I'll never do it again unless Bill is with me. This year, it seems that all my time has gone into these treat containers for Bill's employees. I did some math work and we could have gotten $10-15 gift cards for each person on his team. If I had done that though, I wouldn't have discovered some of these recipes. I'm now onto baking for my family and a friend or two. Today, will be ambrosia cake day. It's my brother's favorite so I'm making that for him and a mincemeat pie for my dad and my uncle. I'm also going to make gingerbread cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese icing and a hot chocolate cupcake (marshmallow flush on top as the icing and a mini candy cane as the handle). Still also going to make the gingerdoodles.
My new friend Rascal has really taken to life here with us. Sally and he aren't hissing very much and I'm pretty happy with how things are going/have gone. I still miss Socks and Bill still asks me how the girls are when he gets home (Rascal is a boy). At least he seems to like to have his tummy rubbed.
Bill discovered last night that Friday and Monday are the holidays his company is giving so that means he is now taking two vacation days for this upcoming trip. While I was a little miffed, I'm now extremely happy. We'll get an alone day just before Christmas for just the two of us. There is talk of a couple's massage and a movie. Hopefully the baking will be done by then.
I think it's awesome that you are doing this. When I was in youth group growing up, we went to a nursing home to sing carols, but since I'm from an itty bitty town, we also walked around the town and sang carols to older people who couldn't really get out. The looks on their faces was priceless and those are some of my fondest memories of my childhood.
I'm so exhausted! I didn't know how much time it would take to get moved in and settled to the new house. It still feels like a house with a ton of boxes everywhere, not an actual house where we live.
And we leave Thursday to go to my family's Christmas. A part of me is frustrated that I don't have more time to get unpacked and settled ... and another part of me is glad to have a long weekend off from doing anything house-related!!!
This is not encouraging for when I try to do this later next year.

Julie- You are making me so hungry. That all sounds so yummy!
I just can't get in the holiday spirit at all. I have tried listening to music, watching Christmas movies, baking, wrapping gifts...I am just not into it this year.

BL - I had the same experience. I waited HOURS at the DPS office. I only waited 30 minutes at the SS office. It makes for a long day.
Sara - I'm the same way this year. I'm not sure what my deal is, but I'm just not in the Christmas spirit. Bah humbug.
I came in this morning to everyone all in a tizzy over something from yesterday. One of my co-workers made the same phone calls yesterday afternoon that I made yesterday morning and got the same info. Even though I sent an email with that info and a clear plan for what we were going to do moving forward, he sent his own email with the issue and ended up causing my boss to email the client something that made us look like we didn't know what we were doing. Learn to read people! Geez.
Tomorrow I am going to get pedis with my BFF then we are going to dinner and then to see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo with my other BFF's. We are all exchanging gifts tomorrow too. It should be a really fun night.
I filled out the book of paperwork for the infertility doctor last night. It made me feel really sad about/scared of what the immediate future holds for us. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.
Why is it that I either have 10 pony tails and clips or I have none at all? Now I can't put this mess on my head up.
Sarah- Yay for a bonus! Typically we get a small gift card but the person that organized it retired and it looks like no one picked it up
Hopefully they will surprise us.
Chelsea- I don't have a busy schedule anywhere near what you two seem to have but I know what you mean about getting back to "our normal". With Marcus having stuff going on nearly every night of the week and then on the weekend, I've been very frustrated the last few weeks but hopefully with the break we can hang out together.
BL - It's such a pain. But everyone here is right, as least as far as my experience was concerned... waiting in line is the worst part.
Leslie - That paperwork is a BEAST. I can imagine it'd be very disheartening, but keep your chin up. It's a step!
Tiffany - I know what you mean about Boot camp. Ours is $120 a month (granted, that's for both of us, and it's a class of 5 people, so it's dang near personal training, but still). We're going to go back in January, but we took December off.
On that note, I got REALLY annoyed at my instructor via Facebook yesterday. I'm nearly certain she wasn't referring to us, but she posted something about being "so proud of the ones who honor their commitment to themselves and make no excuses during this busy season." I kind of wanted to respond to her... my kids aren't the excuse. They're the priority. I'll get more good out of sleeping in with them instead of taking them to a sitter three mornings a week so I can work out during this one month. Thankyewverymuch. I'm just never going to be one of those people that prioritizes fitness over EVERYTHING, and I don't think that's wrong.
Yeah, ours is $100 per month per person. We could do it, but I would really rather put that money in the bank. Especially when I really can do all of the boot camp stuff on my own.
Re: Your trainer - she was probably trying to be more motivational than condemning. I have not missed a class in the two months I have been, and I am very proud of that. I like it when our trainers recognize it. I never really though of how it made others feel. :-/
I changed mine in Denton and the SS office and DPS didn't take nearly as long as I was anticipating, probably around an hour or so even with travel between the two.
This is why I pretty much cut off my hair yesterday.
Leslie - Just remember that they're getting that much info from you so they can give you the best care possible. I think it's great that you're being proactive. Whatever the outcome, you're one step closer!
Sooo, I've been planning all along on making cookies on Friday to give away to family members for Christmas. Well, I *just* remembered that we're getting together with my aunt and cousins on Thursday, so now I need to come up with something I can get done before then. I didn't buy them gifts, I was only planning on giving them homemade goodies!
ETA: Re: Fitness. Since this is my last week at my PT job, and I'll only have my on-call position for now (and I won't have any work for probably 3-4 weeks), next week starts Operation: Be Less Fat. It's going to be serious, y'all.
BL - I felt like I sat at the DPS office forever! The SS office was much quicker for me.
Bio Good Times
I want to do Crossfit so badly but this is the exact reason I have not. The nearest box to me is $110/mo. per person. DH would have a cow and a half.
Thanks girls. I know it's a step but it's a sucky one.
I don't know your budget but World Market has soaps and lotions for half off and if you are an explorer person they will have all of their candy 50% off on Friday and they have a $10 off $30 purchase coupon until Saturday. When we were at Office Depot Sunday (or was it Office Max? It's by Wal-Mart on Loop 288) their baskets of coffee, tea and candy were BOGO.
LOL!

My great-grandmother is in town staying with my great-aunt. I want to go see my great-grandmother but if I come over my cousin is insisting she come over too so I can see her baby. I just don't really feel like seeing a baby today and I am irrationally upset that I have to suck it up or not see my great-grandmother.
We should have a TN Fitness Challenge and call it that!!
I agree! I'd participate!

Ha, that's a great idea! Like Biggest Loser-style, based on percentages, or more like an accountability thing? This may take some brainstorming.
ETA: Jaymi, thanks! I think I figured it out, we have a load of apples from our CSA, so I may make some apple bread loaves along with the hot cocoa mix and peppermint bark that I was already planning on making ahead of time.
I know, I saw that....but that's almost $500 for both of us that we would have to pay right now.
$500 is pretty darn good motivation to do it diligently on our own, I'd say.
Anna - I was thinking more of an accountability thing, but we could keep track of percentages if everyone wants to. Definitely would give us all some motivation!
Maybe we should bring back health and fitness Thursday? Everyone could check in weekly and we could make it like the TTC check in I do on GP. A list of questions for everyone to answer every week including an overall pounds/percentage lost and a weekly pounds/percentage lost. Then we could do weekly general H&F chat/support/b&m in there too.
On the H&F board they do monthly challenges, stuff like this month everyone will workout so many minutes or do a plank for as long as they can.
