My great-grandmother is in town staying with my great-aunt. I want to go see my great-grandmother but if I come over my cousin is insisting she come over too so I can see her baby. I just don't really feel like seeing a baby today and I am irrationally upset that I have to suck it up or not see my great-grandmother.

Can you give it a "Yeah, I am going to see g-ma, but I am beginning to feel a little under the weather so you might not want me too close to the baby" mention so she will stay home?

  • If I get another spam E-mail from FTD, I'm going to tear my hair out.  I've unsubscribed twice.

I love the idea of H&F Thursday.  Our firm did a Biggest Loser thing where it was $25 to get in.  Ben was like, can't you just go to the gym for free?

I did it anyway.  I actually gained weight.

  • imagelesalyric:

Maybe we should bring back health and fitness Thursday? Everyone could check in weekly and we could make it like the TTC check in I do on GP. A list of questions for everyone to answer every week including an overall pounds/percentage lost and a weekly pounds/percentage lost. Then we could do weekly general H&F chat/support/b&m in there too.

On the H&F board they do monthly challenges, stuff like this month everyone will workout so many minutes or do a plank for as long as they can.

I love this!  It would definitely keep me motivated!

I wish. My g-grand is 93, so we don't normally go around her if we are sick.

I am just going to put my big girl panties on. What's the worst that will happen? It'll be too much and I'll have to excuse myself to the bathroom and then listen to them tell me to relax/get drunk/go on vacation/we're just trying too hard. Survived that before, so it'll be fine.

ETA: Re: Fitness. Since this is my last week at my PT job, and I'll only have my on-call position for now (and I won't have any work for probably 3-4 weeks), next week starts Operation: Be Less Fat. It's going to be serious, y'all.

While I may not be as hard core as you next week, I do plan on doing the Wii Fit every day next week while I am off.  We don't have any extra games right now so I will just be using whatever comes with it.  Good luck!

Noted. I will start another thread to talk about it, so we don't clog this one up for those not interested.

Good luck to you! I am sorry that is what your afternoon will consist of.  Let me know if you want me to come along and let them know how rude that line of questioning is. Or maybe it would serve them well to mind their own beeswax!

  • Thanks Sara! :)

I just saw a news story that a man threw a bowling ball at a woman who refused his offer to buy her a drink at a bowling alley. WTF is wrong with people?

  • Someone posted on the Bump that their in-laws offered to pay for their IVF if they would name the baby after the grandfather (he would be whatever name the fourth.)

Thoughts on this? Would you do it? IVF is about $20,000 for reference.

I don't think so.  Even if we had already planned on naming the kid after the grandfather, I would worry what other strings would be attached, especially if this came from my IL's.  So NO.

No.  Gifts with stipulations are not gifts at all.   I also seriously doubt that this debt would end with the name.

  • Is anyone familiar with Tyler candles?  Does anyone know where I can just walk in and buy one locally?  Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I cannot stop LOLing about Operation Be Less Fat.

You can usually buy them at Hallmark stores.

I keep laughing at this too and cannot wait to tell DH and see his reaction!

My personal feelings about IVF aside, I think I would have to know more about their specific situation.  If their ILs are the kind to attach strings to all kinds of things, then I would be suspicious.  However, I would like to think it is really the ILs just wanting grandchildren about as bad as the couple wants children, and in that case, I'd say it's a blessing.  Especially if the ILs are in a place where they can afford that.  I feel like if you want a baby that bad, and IVF is something you'll consider, what would make you say no to that offer, you know?

I do dislike seconds, thirds, and fourths, etc. for names, though.  H and I have joked about naming a son "Mark," even though our families have a combined total of 6 Marks already (including my dad and his brother).

  • Woot!  We got our gift card for Christmas!

I also just found out that one of our male coworkers is planning to propose over the holiday break.

  • I just won $57 off of scratch off lottery tickets that one of my co-workers gave me!

How cool!  I need to stick a few scratchoff's with my grandparent's gift, whenever I get around to doing that.

Haha, I'm so glad y'all like it. I told DH that I don't really care about being skinny, I just want to, you know, be less fat. And fit into my own damn clothes. And, at some point in the future, have a baby without developing diabetes and high blood pressure.

This is one of my goals too before we have a baby.  And we were originally supposed to start in 11 days. Crikey.  That has been delayed.  So it's on.

  • Ok, I just got a GC for a pedicure, a Groupon gift card, and a mouse pad that looks like a Persian rug.  My peeps are the coolest.

Does anyone know how I use a Groupon gift card??

Does it have an offer code?  I think you just use it like a regular groupon/living social offer.

Also, you are cleaning up, aren't you?
