We have a fundraiser at work to raise money for gifts for our neediest families. In the last two weeks, we were able to raise about $3200 as a staff and 14 families (of 23 of our students) will receive a $100 grocery store gift card and a $75 walmart gift card. We don't know who all of the recipients are, but I know that one family is one of my fifth graders, her mom, and her sister. They are in an apartment that doesn't have a stove and they had spam on Thanksgiving because they had no money for food and no way to cook. It made me feel good to know that we were able to offer pretty significant gifts to 14 different families and I hope that it makes their holidays a little bit better.

I think that sounds like a great program.
Last year, we adopted a family through a program where you deliver the gifts to them yourself. It was so heart wrenching to see how happy they were for the food and toys for their son. Such a good reminder of how fortunate we are.
