sick and old people

DH grandparents are in their 90s. One is in a nursing home and gets sick easily. The other is in a nursing home. And the other still lives in a condo.

I have a wonderful horrible cough, and it is not getting better. Have a wonderful scratchy voice. Evie has a discusting cold with stuff always out of her nose and stuff in her eyes (plus the ear infection, it is fun times!). We were going to go visit people in nursing homes to give gifts on Saturday, but I feel horrible for canceling, but I don't want to get them sick.

Best to not go? Yes I know the answer to this. But I feel like a horrible person not going to see them near christmas

Re: sick and old people

  • I am one to always play it safe when it comes to things like this.  I would rather stay home and not risk getting anyone else sick.  You can always play it by ear and see if you get better by Saturday since you still have several days.  Can you send DH without you and Evie so they still get to see some of your family?

That is what I am thinking about doing. But if Evie is still sick, she may not be good to go either... maybe send DH with their gifts... sad.

  • I know how sad it can make you feel, I have been there.  But I am sure they will understand and appreciate that you are looking out for them.  Plus you could make sure to go visit with Evie as soon as you are both feeling better.  I am sure they appreciate visitors anytime!  Or if you really want to visit this weekend could DH take computer and set up skype for you to chat for a bit?
