Freaking Verizon /vent

I just went to Verizon and got Jim the new Galaxy Nexus phone for Christmas (it's the same one I have - it's the new Android with the newest Android OS).  Annnnyway.  It's a Christmas present.  My name is on the Verizon acct, but the phone is his.  I do the thing, get the phone, tell them not to activate it blah blah.  Perfect!

Come home to an EMAIL from Verizon saying that my receipt for my recent transaction regarding phone number (insert J's # here) is avail online.

What do you want to bet they emailed him too, or texted him letting him know.

F-ers.

  • Hopefully not, but I would be sooo annoyed if they did that.

  • That suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.  Technology kills surprises!

I bought D some Cutco scissors for his b-day.  He saw the transaction on our credit card because he watches them like a hawk (and even knows that December it's off limits!).  I was so excited about it because he had forgotten even asking for them.

When I gave him the gift, he grins and goes "I think I know what it is."  A-hole.  Good job ruining the surprise.

On a separate note, Cutco scissors freaking rule.   I had never even heard of Cutco before meeting J but his Mom is all into them.  I got a whole set of knives a garlic press, scissors a pizza cutter etc for my bridal shower.  THEY ARE AWESOME.

But, boo to D for finding it on the bill.  I even used a debit card that is only mine attached to a very small pre-marriage acct I still have and......this.  I can't very well ask him "sooooooo get any random texts from Verizon today?"

  • My H was here when his gift was delivered... the one freaking day he gets home before me is when they delivered it. And of course, it could only be one thing judging by where it came from. Oh well... I figure at least he knows he'll be happy with it, lol.
  • That's just crappy.

I know that last year a friend ordered something large for her LO to be from Santa, but it was shipped without an exterior box so when they came home it was just sitting clear as day on their front porch.  (I think it was the Barbie dream home too!)

Retailers should think about these things.

  • FWIW I got a new phone last month. Went to VZ to order it, and walked out of the store and got an e-mail receipt for the transaction. I don't recall getting anything else (any other e-mails or texts). The account is in my name, AND the phone was mine, so it's a little different. But I'm pretty sure they sent it to my e-mail because it's the e-mail associated with the account/the e-bills.

    Hopefully he didn't receive anything!

  • Aw - that sucks.  I did the same thing last year, but Verizon was really good about it :)
  • I did the same thing for Steve for Christmas last year - bought him a new phone, didn't activate it, etc. I got a confirmation email for the purchase, but he knew nothing about it. So I am willing to bet Jim won't either.

  • Good to hear your stories Katie and Heather.  Here's hoping he doesn't know because his other gift is a Gardener for next Summer and that's really hard to wrap (LOL) so the phone is his only thing to open!

He was still excited... but still!!!  When he opened them, he looked at me and said "Do you have a penny???" ha.

  • Good new Naylon! I bet he won't get anything about it. I went and bought my new phone today, received the text and e-mail about the sale but Kevin (who is primary on the acct) didn't receive anything about it. Merry Christmas Jim!
