  BF's Christmas (which also happens to be his birthday) is basically ruined because of some family events that are taking place.

  I feel so horribly for him.  I can tell he is crushed. 

  The flameful part is that I'm going to use this opportunity to show him how awesome I can be at cheering him up!

  Yah, I could understand the Sharpie part, it was more the sea of awful gift wrap of every color imagineable that really got under my skin.  Not to mention the sheer volume of all the packages.  They're the type of people who go ALL out for Christmas.  I'm sure they literally spent thousands of dollars.  I would get close to 10 gifts and I was just the DIL, XH would get around 20.  So the packages would spill out from under the tree and invade our tiny living room. 

  This wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that they are in debt up to their eyeballs and constantly complaining about not having any money.

  I buy myself the small stuff to fill my stocking. I learned years ago if I did not do it I would have an empty stocking.
