Re: QOTD Wednesday (2012)
An organized and clean house
Lose another 40 lbs
Hoping for a BFP
Enjoying more weekends away with H in the coming year, too
PAIF/SAIF welcome
PCOS-IR / Hypothyroid
IUI#1-3: 100mg Clomid + Ovidrel trigger = BFN
Mine are kind of dinky:
Get to work on time, regularly (I have totally failed at this since having C. My 7:45am start time + 1 hour commute + getting myself ready, feeding/letting the dog out, nursing C = just not happening in a timely fashion)
Running an 8K (since I have worked out maybe 5 times since having C, this will be a big deal)
Posting one blog entry a week & gaining readers.
Run 2 half marathons, or at least a half and a 10-miler.
Let things go more; be more go with the flow.
Be a good mom and employee.
Get a new job.
Decide if we're going to be child-free.
Be healthier.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
Last year was a bit of a whirlwind because we moved, sold a house, and had a baby. So, this year, I'm looking forward to more stability and spending time with family. Also, in the beginning of Dec, my 41 year old step-brother almost died from an iliac aneurysm. He's going to be okay but it's been a good reminder to me that even though DH and I are "young", that we shouldn't take our health for granted and that we should continually strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle. So, with all of that being said, my goals are to:
1. Lose 5-7 lbs more and keep it off. I'm doing WW and I already lost 8 lbs. I want to lose 5-7 more and then be able to maintain it over the year.
2. Continue to cook healthy meals and try new recipes. WW has helped me to eat healthier and so I want to continue cooking healthy meals and trying new recipes so that not only am I eating healthy, but my family is too.
3. I want to get stronger and exercise more. I can tell that my flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular health has really diminished in the past 10 years. So, I'm trying to do more work on the elliptical and more yoga to try and bring it back up.
4. Spend more time with DH and the kids. I want to do more activities together on the weekends and try to dedicate more time to my girls. We are doing a family beach trip in June which I'm really looking forward to. I also want to make sure to reserve more time for DH and strengthen our relationship.
1. Increase what we contribute to our savings by $500 a month
2. Obtain my CGFM certification
We're planning to start TTC in early 2012, assuming we both have a clean bill of health (for those who remember my genetic testing question a month or two ago, it turns out I am a CF carrier, and we're still waiting for the results of DH's bloodwork). On one hand, I wouldn't mind if I don't get pregnant right away, since DH is a little more ready for a kid than I am (I'm not sure I'll ever be 100 percent ready). On the other hand, I am pretty type A, so I can see myself getting frustrated if it takes a long time!
I'm also going to try to do better at not spending as much money this year. We have a decent amount in savings and don't have too many frivolous expenses as a couple, but I buy way too many things that I don't need when it comes to clothes, shoes, etc. Of course, if I do get pregnant, I can see myself buying way too much baby stuff instead...
Baby248 - ETA 1/10/13
now that i'm finally working full time again, I feel like I can actually focus on what I want instead of job hunting (which is what i felt like i spent most of 2010 and 2011 doing) so . . .
getting a DSLR and photoshop and taking a class for each since that keeps me practicing
keeping up with regular posts on my blog
get back to working out regularly, maybe take yoga again too
i already try to appreciate the small things daily but the new year is always a good reminder to keep doing that
1. Move
2. Lose a bunch of weight, so maybe a more realistic goal - exercise regularly.
My goals are:
1) to stay sane through an incredibly hectic January-June at work. Things will quiet down significantly after that, but I need to make it through the first half.
2) Maintain my current weight even after weaning
3) Exercise. I really, really need to do this. I have bought some groupons for zumba classes in my hood, so I really don't have an excuse.
4) Get back to updating my blog (crafts, home decor, books I've read).
5) This is kind of my big crazy dream, but I want to start taking classes to become a certified lactation consultant. Because I have no science/medical background I need to start from scratch, basically taking biology, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, etc. So in the summer/fall, I hope to start taking one class at a time. Breastfeeding has been such an important experience for me, and I really would love to be able to help women work through the challenges they may face in the beginning.

1/2 marathon in March! maybe another later in the year depending on how that one goes.
save more money!
figure out if we are CFBC or going to ever TTC. meh. (i turn 34 in april!)
and finally finally get over my fear of driving on highways alone. it is getting ridiculous at this point but i have no idea how to tackle it.
i have off on Friday and part of my day is going to be thinking about this type of stuff.
1. I would like to take more "me" time, actually use some of my PTO and take days off and do something for me, while leaving kids with their respective providers. (I hate taking vacation days w/out actually going on vacation).
2. Take some family vacations, weekend trips that kids will enjoy but also start planning a just-us-2 vacation, which will mean leaving the kids w/ grandparents.
3. Start working our more regularly.
4. Sleep-train DS (again!!) so I can get some of sanity back, which will hopefully give me the energy to do #3 above.
Good luck to all the TTCers, and mssaint, I think being an LC would be so awesome!! I still keep in touch w/ mine and she loves hearing from me and seeing pix of the kids.
Hopes:
That my dad will beat bladder cancer, and if it isn't too much to ask, that it won't ever come back
That my FIL will get a new heart?the sooner the better?and that he'll survive the surgery and the recovery period and maybe, for the first time in his life, have the blessings of good health
That's all I really want this upcoming year! The rest would be icing on the cake.
Scout
Chocolate Blog!
1. Go to bed by 11 each work night (and between 10 and 10:30 on days I'm starting an hour earlier).
2. Read some of the classics I've never gotten to (I'm starting this one today with The Hobbit).
3. I'm hoping that DH gets a decent, permanent job in his field.
4. I hope we can get a cat by the end of the year.
5. I'm hoping to visit my family in AZ in May, and introduce DH to them for the first time.
Planning Bio
I have a couple of them:
I want DH to find a job - he just gave his notice last week so his last day is next Friday... not really smart considering he doesn't have anything else lined up.
For me personally: My goal is to drop about 40lbs. I've always said oh I want to lsoe weight but never done anything or I'd "forget" but this year I'm really serious. I feel this is the year for changes.
Much like Jellisy, I have a year's worth of ambitious goals.
Personal:
Exercise three to four mornings a week
Run a race
Lose serious weight
Eat more vegetables and less carbs
Keep kicking cancer's ass
Keep up and expand my healthy ways
Family:
Tell my friends how important they are to me and show them
Make more time for my DH
Plan our vacation for 2012
Take more weekends away with DH
Get my mom's house sold and her into a retirement home
Financial:
Kick up our savings goals
Plan our kitchen reno (and create savings budget)
Up contributions to IRAs
Home:
Declutter ? 15 minutes a day ? 3 days a week
Plan new kitchen
Garden:
Start seeds in time for a spring garden
Build and install raised gardens
Do foundation planting in front garden
I have a notebook where I am writing these down in and keeping a running track of them!
1. Have a healthy pregnancy and hopefully also a healthy baby by the end of the year.
2. Keep playing with the Paleo/Primal Blueprint ways of eating/exercising and keep getting healthier (get weight closer to BMI, keep exercising regularly).
3. In early January, have enough set up businesswise (online info page, basic online coaching program, FB page) so that I can easily share info and offer free consultations to my target market. By the end of the year, have a basic funnel of offerings in place that I can always improve or expand upon. "Own" who I am and what my business does with confidence.
Lose weight and get healthy enough to do more active family vacations as the kids older. I have really let it all go since having Molly and I need to get back on track. I have a million excuses but so does everyone else who gets it done so I need to find a way.
Move to VA. We need to do this for family sanity as the 3 hr commutes are killer. However I will be so sad to leave DCP, the MoCo area which I finally know my way around and even my pedi.
I haven't thought about it at all, so this is sort of train of thought....
1) Make it through what will be likely the toughest year for us financially (we've done OK so far with three in daycare and a stupid high mortgage payment due to a HARP refinance) without killing each other. DD #1 will start public school in Sept. 2012 and there will be some $ relief at that point.
2) Continue to maintain the weight loss I worked my ass off for in 2011 - holidays are not really helping here, so I think I'll have about 7-8 pounds to lose come January.
3) Starting in Sept 2012, start saving the "found" money we're not spending on private preschool for kid #1 and start planning and making budgets for all the home improvement projects we're not able to afford right now.
4) Stop feeling guilty about - well actually a lot of stuff. I think I'm too hard on myself about a lot of things (working mom guilt, feeling like I'm not being a good friend guilt, being to judgy guilt). Stop fretting and live more in the moment with my kids, my DH, my family, etc.
Good luck to everyone who hopes to get pg or hopes to figure out if they want to get pg. And you marathon people - you are my heroes. Good for you!!!!!
Weeeee!
i am copying all of these and joining you in the ambitious list for 2012
