daycare told me she's not finishing her yogurt, and she doesn't always finish her cheese stick either. and she is still refusing milk.
the only dairy she is getting is probably 2-3TB of milk in her morning frosted mini wheats fix. she sucks it out of the soaked, mashed up cereal and then drinks what is left in the bowl like a kitten.
i need snack ideas. i'd love for them to be easily packable for daycare and for some calcium to be in it.
i already send a fruit/veggie pouch. she gets meatballs or chicken nuggets for lunch, pasta or smile fries, peas, carrots, beans - some sort of small side dish too.
she's not a goldfish or cracker fan. i do send in soft fresh fruit when we have. she used to gobble up whole bananas, but has really slowed on those lately.
what else?
Re: need more snack ideas for 14mos old
she won't eat the TJ cereal bars - but I guess I can try the nutrigrain ones.
Will she drink orange juice? (maybe diluted) There's calcium in that I believe. Not really a snack, but you could make a cheese quesadilla and pack the wedges in her lunch bag... add chicken for a heartier lunch.. N also likes to eat shredded cheddar cheese, just plain. Sometimes it's the shape of the cheese that appeals to them.. so if she's not eating the sticks maybe try cubes, shredded, fun shapes, etc. You could also try flavoring her milk with chocolate or strawberry syrup.
As far as other snacks, she likes granola bars, pretzels, rasins, cheerios - sometimes I get her fun flavors like banana nut or apple cinnamon..
If you're looking for lunchbox/snack ideas, pinterest is a great place to search. Especially if you type in "bento box", you will get a ton of ideas.
wetried milk - plain, chocolate, vanilla - in a variety of cups and temperature. she won't drink it.
we tried quesadillas for dinner - she couldn't really tear/chew them. so i gave her filling and cheese separately. the tortilla seems to be the issue - same when we have (soft) taco night
i just think this is so cute!
sorry i don't have many ideas to offer. i know w/ my 1st she would only drink milk w/ strawberry syrup in it (didn't like chocolate or plain). and she also really laid off the milk when we switched her to cups, so i'm trying to keep my 13 month old on bottles right now.
good luck!
* Applesauce
* Cheese puffs (Happytot)
* Hummus and crackers
* Popchips
* Veggie straws
* He is a huge veggie and fruit fan so we have a lot of that
* Have you tried smoothies? Keegan loves the Yo Baby ones. He is so independent now and won't eat yogurt if you try to feed him from a spoon. He does try it himself and make a mess.
