Can we do a cleaning poll?

Re: Can we do a cleaning poll?

  • I'm riding the Badger/Cali/Wendy vacuum. Well, I would be if I wasn't the equivalent of a 50s husband who comes home to most of this stuff being done every other week.

    When Bob is off every other week, we do some form of cleaning but a lot of the big stuff waits until company or well, his mom is about to visit. Mopping doesn't get done as much as vacuuming.

    When he's working, the laundry and the dishes get done but I'll usually focus more on a small organizing project than on doing something like cleaning the bathroom.

    I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Mop your kitchen: Once every week or every other week

    Vaccuum carpets: We have all hardwoods but I vacuum the living room (including large area rug) and sweep the kitchen every day or every other day (I especially try to keep rug clean because that's where Isaiah plays). Other rooms get vacuumed once or twice a week.

    Scrub showers/baths: When it starts to look dirty. Embarrassed

    Clean your fridge: Empty out leftovers/obviously expired or spoiled stuff on garbage day once a week. A full-blown cleaning happens maybe once every few months.

    this does bring up another hoarding topic though.  I used to have an issue throwing food away.  If there were leftovers I'd save them even if I knew nobody was going to eat them and then end up throwing them away a week later.  Now I try not to save anything that won't get used but it's not always easy.

    ::Climbs into Mashed's leftover-filled fridge::

    This is totally me. My husband always complains about it but I feel bad for throwing out food, even though that is what I end up doing a few days later anyway.

  • This thread forced me to clean my fridge last night

  • The thing with my house is no matter how much I clean it, I never feel like it is all the way clean. I think it has to do with it being an older house (built 1968). Or maybe my housekeeping skills suck.

    Our old house was built in the 40s and was definitely like that. The baseboards never looked clean even if I had just scrubbed them with a toothbrush and bleach.

  • This poll has made me start to think maybe my crazy MIL was right about me being an awful housekeeper/wife.

  • This thread forced me to hand scrub my kitchen baseboards, floor, and cabinets last night. The hardwood floor in the kitchen needs to be refinished soon so it never looks or feels clean and it drives me batty.

    My plan is to repaint all the baseboards and window frames this summer because they are all scuffed and just look dirty. Shoot me now.
