I have known for a little more than three weeks that my husband had an affair, and I know that the first step in dealing with that and moving on with my life is to get some counseling (individual to deal with the hot mess that I am and then maybe together to discuss the dissolution of our marriage), but until today, I had done exactly nothing about that other than verify that we have an Employee Assistance Program at work.
One of my most faithful friends gave me as a deadline today for me to call, and I picked up the phone and called HR to get the number, and then I called the EAP number and left a voicemail (because of course there was no one to answer the call). I now feel like I am going to puke because this has suddenly gotten a lot more REAL. But it's a good thing.

Re: Called the EAP at work...
This.
I knew we had an EAP at my work, but didn't realize it covered a discount on lawyers until my co-worker mentioned it to me. I had just retained my attorney, but thankfully he turned out to be on the EAP panel and agreed to honor the discount. 25% off his hourly rate was a HUGE win!
I don't believe that this is part of our EAP. I work for a large health network, and in our personnel policies, it only says that we get three free sessions with a therapist per "event" that we need help with, and then they offer referral services. However, what I really need right now is someone to talk to, so this is good enough for me.
Thanks for the support, everyone. I really appreciate it.
