Would you consider getting remarried?
Re: Would you consider getting remarried?
I think it's unlikely that I will remarry. I just don't see myself wanting to go back to living with another person and sharing financial responsibilities with them. I also don't want children, so maybe I'm not as motivated as others to seek out that type of commitment.
I know I already replied once, but this reply really speaks to me and about the reasons I don't think I will remarry. I look forward to being on my own with my own financial responsibilities, and I would definitely strongly consider money issues before ever even getting into another relationship. My H and I didn't even really discuss money before we got married, and I think I thought that since we had been together for so long, I knew what his money views were like, but this was not so. I also don't want children, so the motivation to have a family unit for them is lacking for me as well. I also look forward to living alone again someday, hopefully soon-ish, with only my dog for company (and maybe a cat...I would like to get a cat).
Right now I would say HELL NO! because this divorce is a nightmare and sucking thousands and thousands of dollars that I saved for years.
But I'll see how I feel in a couple years. I've learned so much about myself and relationships that there are now some things that will be dealbreakers for me. For example, if I have to make sacrifices that are huge for me like say career or wanting to have a child, I will end the relationship. I also used to put my needs after everyone else's and that is over.
Now how soon after being in a relationship would I remarry... well I am getting in my 30s so I think most guys are past the stage of parties and are more willing to settle so I would say a 30 something year-old is probably more ready for marriage than a 25 year-old. In my 20s I could have easily waited 5+ years to marry. I don't think that will happen in my 30s. We'll see.
