SA Wednesday

Good Morning!

I had to start because yesterday Matt told me that he ordered a salad from Jasons Deli for lunch.  This may seem like boring news to everyone, but Matt does NOT eat ANY veggies except corn (which truthfully doesnt count).  I was in complete shock as I never thought this day would come and I am so so happy.

Re: SA Wednesday

  • I can barely read TB July board.  Every single day there's a girl that lost her baby - some of them further along than me - and I am freaked out.  My heart breaks for every single one of them and it makes me even more scared!  I have an appt tomorrow and it can't come fast enough.

A girl on GP got super-flamed for voicing this on her BMB, it was crazy. Good luck with your appointment.

I understand though, it's hard for me to read the infertility boards and see the posts of people doing costly treatments and allowing themselves to gain a little hope and then having them not work. The thought of spending so much money already scares me, spending the money and having nothing to show for it but more crushed hope makes me so anxious I have to just avoid the boards every once in awhile.

I am glad some of you girls were so excited about the blog. Due to the subject matter I do have to warn that there will probably be some negative days. I started the blog to have something to look back on later but also to have somewhere to channel some of the anxiety I have sometimes. I'm about 95% positive days each month, so hopefully the negativity will be far and few between.

  • Leslie - that's why I didn't post it there.  I think that we have a good dynamic here for all of us to know that I didn't say it to be mean, it's just the way that I am feeling about it.  I don't know any of the BMB personally, and I don't want to come off as insensitive at all, because I am very sensitive to it.  I feel so awful for every single one of them and my heart breaks for anyone that goes through it - it really does.  It makes you so thankful for the blessings in your life, that's for sure.

I forgot to say that this was awesome BL! I am glad he is making healthier choices. Randall made broccoli, lemon pepper tilapia and roasted potatoes and carrots for dinner last night...on his own. I nearly died as he is usually a meat, potatoes and gravy man when he has his choice. Yay for health DH's!

  • BL- Congrats to Matt! I have friends like that and I don't understand how they do it, but I see them eat a Veggie I get excited for them.

Bri - I know what you mean. It breaks my heart for everyone going through those issues. It's takes a strong person to be able to be the way our Leslie and Sara are and I commend you ladies for your strength. It's very inspirational.

My TK month board found this awesome project on Pintrest. It's a photo project that you work on everyday of the new year. You take one picture everyday and write a little something about it. The actual project on pintest is an album, but a lot of those girls have blogs so it's become a blog project. I thought it was awesome and even though we are a couple days into the year I think I'll practicipate. I am carrying my camera on me now.

    This exactly

  • We have a granite countertop contractor coming over today to give us an estimate!  Woohoo!

I have doubts that granite will be in our price range, but ... fingers crossed we can work something out!

  • Bri - I didn't think you said it to be mean at all. I couldn't tell from your response if you thought I did....so just in case, I didn't. :) I in theory understand why the BMB flamed the girl from GP, but at the same time she was just voicing something that pretty much everyone on the board was feeling...I didn't like the way they jumped her at all. Even after all this time posting on other boards the Bump still kind of scares me, women be vicious over there.

Speaking of July board though, you have my GP friend bellanxthe over there with you. She is such a sweet and nice person. We had mirror image cycles for the first seven months I tried and she continues to support me and be awesome. Sometimes the kindness of people who have never met you in person astounds me. Internet = awesome.

ETA: Deepthi - Thank you. I really appreciate that. As much as I don't like to make a hierarchy of grief, I feel like it's very true that having loved and lost is much harder than never having loved at all.

I have met some of the most gracious people through having trouble TTC. It's funny because having to deal with this really makes it obvious who the good people are. On GP we get people who are BITTTTTERRR about people getting pregnant when they have only been trying for two months and there are those who have been trying for two years but still manage to be supportive and kind.

Talk to me if it's not. My friend is a local business owner and is friends with the owner/contractor of a granite yard. You'd have to come to Fort Wort to look at slabs at the yard but the price might make it worth your time.

  • BL- So what was his final verdict on the salad?  Did he like it?  Will he try it again?

BSN- Positive thoughts to you.  Honestly, I am not sure I will ever read TB boards again.  They make me so nervous and stressed out.

Leslie- The great thing about the blog is that you can put whatever you want out there....good, bad and ugly.  I can't wait to keep reading and follow your journey.

In other news:  One of my co-workers got two scratch off lotto tickets for Christmas.  The total payout on those tickets was $23K!!!!  Can you believe it?  I told her to come in my cube so I could rub her head for good luck.

Thanks, will do!  You know me, I don't mind driving anywhere... especially for a deal. :)

  • Brianna - I can imagine reading about that makes you very nervous and scared.  I'm sorry.

Leslie - we want to read it all.  It's a blog about your journey, we all realize that some steps of that journey are going to be harder than others and we don't expect you to have your positive pants on for every step.

    BL - that's awesome!

Wow. That is awesome. I wonder if I should put a $5 a week lotto allowance into my budget?

  • Good morning!  I'm excited today because 1, my house is getting cleaned today, and 2, my sis is coming over this evening to play with my new Silhouette (aka, paper cutting machine).  I'm really sleepy though, because my schedule is all wacked.  I had such a horrible headache last night that I got home at 6, took some meds, and took and hour and a half nap (I forgot to tell J to wake me up after 30 minutes or so).  So of course I couldn't go to sleep until well after midnight, and when I did sleep, I couldn't stay asleep.

    BL - yay for Matt!

And I totally agree about the losses of others making you appreciate what you've got even more, even though it's such a sensitive subject.  I feel like I know lots of people who have had losses - way more than the 25% or so that is the statistical norm (or at least, the percentage I've heard quoted).

  • I went back to the optometrist yesterday for a tutorial on putting in my contacts.  I got them in, out and back in within 45 minutes.  It only took me ten minutes to get them out last night.  This morning, I got my right eye in within five minutes and I got the left one in within another ten but it rolled on me and fell out.  I tried for another ten minutes to get the left in but couldn't and I had to go get ready so I am only wearing my right one right now.  I just spent another ten minutes trying to get it in but still no luck.  I have another appointment today--this is my check up to see how they're going.  I'm hoping I can get another tutorial today and maybe I can start doing this more quickly every day.  I tried this when I was 18 and, after one week, I had only gotten one in and it took me another hour to get it out.  I never went back because the girl started yelling at me and pretty much called me stupid.

Yesterday, I got a surprise-esque visitor and I can already tell these next few days will be miserable.  It is not a jeans day, but I am wearing them, because, well, I really don't care.  And little things that normally wouldn't bother me are bothering me today.

We bought a tall pet gate last night to help us get in and out of the house without having to chase down Rascal for ten minutes every time we leave or come back.  It's working so far.  And some good news on the cat cohabitation front:  they both stayed on the bed last night together for about twenty minutes.  No hissing, no swatting, no growling, no jumping down just because the other jumped up.

  • Well I seem to be doing well on eating healthy so far. I made some yummy pumpkin oatmeal this morning. And I've been good about my workouts. Now, if only I can keep it up!

We are looking at doing some pictures for our one month anniversary and I am super excited about it!

Oh, no I didn't think that... but I can also see how that post would upset people.  There's a FB group for July girls and people post on there ALL of the time about the scare and the freaking out - but no one posts it on the BMB.

Yes, I recognize that name!  She always starts the weekly threads.  :)

  • Leslie- I didnt say it yesterday, but I bookmarked your blog too.

Brianna- I am sending lots of positive thoughts your way for all the worry and I honestly dont understand why you would get flamed for that.  Other women in your same situation are experiencing loss, how could it not worry you and cause some anxiety.

Sara- wow @ the 23k and yeah he said it was pretty good, it was pretty basic (a chicken cesar) but I will take anything and go from here.  I have been trying to get him to try veggies for 4 years now and so this is definitely a monumental thing.

  • Also, did anyone watch the biggest loser last night?

Julie, that's great about news about Rascal.  I love seeing your updates.

Sarah, what type of pics are you doing like 1st annivesary?  Are you using your wedding photographer?  We want to do pictures also. :)

Deepthi, I love the picture idea that you're talking about. Sounds like a cute idea.

I started it and got to about 1/3 in and then had to stop to do something else. I plan to finish it tonight.

Oh hey I forgot - Randall finally finished my kitchen floor on Saturday. We are waiting for the grout to dry completely to seal it but he is putting up trim now. It looks most excellent. Only the fireplace, wood floors and bathrooms to go now, lol!

On GP we get people who are BITTTTTERRR about people getting pregnant when they have only been trying for two months and there are those who have been trying for two years but still manage to be supportive and kind.

I am struggling with both of those things right now.  Even though it is a silly thought, sometimes I think my loss is the most monumental loss of all times.  I also try very hard not to be bitter or jealous, but like I said in my blog, I wanted to kick that kid's gift cart over at the hospital!

  • I'm late getting here because we went back to boot camp this morning. I almost didn't, but I'm so glad we went. I know I'll have to get used to it all over again, but I missed the camaraderie.

Bri - I know what you mean about being scared. I didn't follow any boards when I was pregnant with Dot, but I had two friends miscarry early in my pregnancy, and it had me all sorts of freaked out. I didn't feel like I could say anything because obviously, their situation was totally not about me. But still, it was a source of worry. I'll be praying you get great, reassuring news at your appointment!

BL - YAY for Matt! I felt the same way Mack voluntarily ordered a water at a restaurant instead of Diet Coke. It's a big deal. :)

  • Oops I meant one year, not one month!

Amanda- What kind of pics are you wanting to do?  We don't have a ton of pictures of us, so it will be nice to  have some!

Leslie- I thought that was so mean that they had one team eliminated right away. I felt so bad for them!

I hate veggies but I will at least eat salad.  Bill doesn't like veggies and doesn't like salad although he eats fruit like there's no tomorrow.  He has some weird little quirks about apples and lettuce though.  He doesn't like the apple peels and he doesn't like the texture of lettuce.  He will sometimes order a salad and eat everything except the lettuce.

    Amanda,

I'm glad that Rascal is entertaining you.  I find most of his antics entertaining but he is certainly frustrating my husband.  Since he never had pets before this, he's getting some good training for when we have/adopt children.

Also, a PSA for the few cat girls on the board:  I was reading some information on elderly cats and what you're supposed to do to take better care of them.  The number one thing was more water.  Apparently it's very easy for an older cat to become dehydrated and they even go so far as to suggest leaving a faucet on a fast drip.  We leave two bowls every morning and they are 3/4 empty by the time I get home every afternoon/evening.  They also suggested giving some canned food several times a week as that can help with the dehydration as well.
