Re: SA Wednesday
We just talked about doing cute pics for our 1 year annivesary. Kind of like the pics Chelsea took of her friend, Megan. Just sounded fun to us!
That would be so cute! :-)

Julie, Ha yes, definitely good training!! Thanks so much for the information on older cats. My kitty, Chloe is 11 yrs old and I noticed he is drinking more water than in the past. I am thinking about changing his food/water bowls to something bigger. I would leave the faucet dripping, but he doesn't get on the counters so that wouldn't help.
Sarah, are you thinking about doing the same kind of pics or something with your wedding dress?
I will say this, then put my fingers in my ears and say "la la la la" and come back when you're talking about something else...
But getting engaged shouldn't be the only time in your life you take pictures together. That's the BEGINNING of a journey, and it's fabulous and all, but anniversaries are important, too. Even when Mack doesn't like to have his picture taken (yeah, ironic, but he totally hates it), we do it because we know our kids and their kids will appreciate being able to look back at photographic evidence of how we changed and our relationship grew over time.
Ok. Lips zipped. I'll be back in a few hours.
I have also caught him drinking out of the toilet, jumping into the bottom of the shower after we're done (he'll drink a little and then plop down in the water). For years, our cats have been "schnouters"--sticking their little faces in our water/milk cups and drinking. We have regular cups with lids now that we use to prevent this.
I agree with Chelsea and that's one reason we do our pictures for Christmas. I am excited to see what this year's picture looks like after I lose some weight and get used to wearing contacts (BTW, I'm still a semi-cyclops--have tried twice more to get the left eye in and still no joy).
Those who eat/enjoy Greek yogurt- I have a question for you. I am trying to get on the bandwagon, but it isn't going so well. The brand that I bought (Oikos) is not that pleasant to eat. I don't mind the texture, but the after taste is AWFUL.
What brand do you eat/enjoy? What flavors are best?
TIA!
Ooooh, I want to know this too, because I feel the same way.
Julie - What is your main difficulty? If you use the inside of your thumb and index finger to hold your eye open and have the contact moist and on the end of your opposite index finger... it should go right in. Also, make sure the index finger with the contact on it is dry. The solution should only be inside the contact "cup".
Sara - I like Brown Cow best. Sometimes I get Chobani because it is always on sale, but it is not as texturally pleasing. I get strawberry and raspberry, and one time I got a strawberry vanilla that was really good.
They want me to use the middle finger on the opposite hand to hold the upper lid and the other middle finger on the bottom lid and go in with the index finger. I will see if keeping my index finger completely dry will help because I have been able to touch my eye with the contact but it won't go on my eye. I have lunch in a little while and my conference right after that. I'll try again then. Thanks, Tiffany!
I've had the same issue and was told that Fage was the best. While it's a little more tasty than the others that I've tried, I still don't care for it. So far I've had Mango Guavanini (totally guessing on the second name there) and while the fruit itself was tasty, I don't care for the yogurt at all. The fruit didn't tone it down much.
Re pictures: I dont think we will be able to swing every year but our goal right now is every other year and we have also committed to making sure we take more pics of our little event type things throughout the year. We took our camera with us to Matts moms and actually looked back through the mavs games and whatnot and it was a lot of fun. We never used to take pictures for those sort of things.
Sara- I like Fage the best (its costly though) and I prefer the 2% over the 0% the calories are not that much more and its super creamy and I really enjoy the flavor of the cherry. I also like that the fruit is completely seperate so I can limit the amount of sugar I eat with it.
Chelsea- I totally agree! I would love to do them every year, but that can get expensive!
Sara- I like chobani and fage. I love the peach and the mango ones from chobani.
Amanda- We want to do like what you are talking about :-)

Something that has helped me is allowing myself hours (or days) just to wallow in grief. There is nothing that says you can't do that and while dwelling forever isn't healthy, I feel like just getting a good ugly cry in is. I had to realize it was healthy to mourn the loss of my fertility. You have suffered a loss on a very physical and emotion level, you mourn it like you would any other loss. You need to.
It's also healthy to be bitter sometimes. If it consumes you all the time, it's a problem but there are times when (cover your ears expecting ladies) I just hate everyone who is pregnant. I don't tell them that but I think it and I burn with green envy sometimes. It happens and even though it doesn't make me a person I am proud to be, at times it's necessary to be able to move on.
Also, something I REALLY have trouble with is dealing with the feelings of grief and jealousy. I am by nature neither a negative person or a bitter person. I feel sometimes like a stranger in my own mind for having such negative thoughts and I hate on myself for being like that. I have had to come to realize that I am not a bad person at all, I am just a good person stuck in a bad situation. From what I know of you, you have a similar disposition to mine, so remember this when you feel bad about feeling bad.
ETA: I also like Brown Cow and Fage yogurt. :P
Yeah, I've noticed this with some Groupons, the estimated value makes me eye-brow raise a little. $25 for an underwater pie baking class valued at $4000?? Oh man, I'm on it!!
Does anyone know WHY Greek yogurt is supposed to be so great? From what I see, it's full of fat and tastes gross. I don't get it.
Things aren't that great for me right now. I am not a worrier by nature but all of us are in a funk at home right now. Family stuff, job stuff--it all seems to be piling up all of a sudden.

I've had this ongoing discussion with DH about corn and carrots and whether they are really veggies. Since BL mentioned that corn doesn't really count as a veggie, how does everyone feel about carrots?
The NCTC Lifetime Learning catalog came in the mail last week for Spring and I'm considering taking a class or 2. Might take a cake decorating class or there were a couple others that sounded interesting but I can't recall what they were about.
Julie- If your method of getting your contacts in isn't what your optometrist suggests, just go with it since it works for you. I have mono-vision and I have 2 different prescriptions and it helps if I do the bad eye first and not focus on the eye that the contact is going in. You should feel a type of suction when the contact is fully on. More times than not, if I don't feel the suction there will be a big bubble so when I close my eyes, it'll pop it off. You are supposed to be gentle with your eyes and all of that but sometimes it takes force, especially when taking them out. I don't mean that you need to stab your eye or anything like that!
I don't know all of the technical reasons, but there are low and no fat varieties to avoid the fat part. I eat it because it has a ton of protein and it makes me feel full for a really long time.
Carrots and Corn are veggies in my book. They are carby veggies, just like potatoes... so I don't eat them that often.... but bona fide veggies to me!
Sorry Stephie, hope it passes by quickly. Did you ever get your car back?
Praying for you, Stephie. It seems as though seasons like that happen for us about every 6 months. It sucks to be in a funk, but hopefully it'll pass quickly!
RE: veggies: corn and carrots count. Peas are my fave, though.
Yeah I got it Friday finally! I'm still a little nervous driving though. I will be glad when that passes.

Stephie- The main benefit of greek yogurt is that it is higher in protein. If you get the 0% or 2% versions they are not high in fat. I also like to use plain unflavored in place of sour cream as well. One downside is that it lacks calcium.
Jaymi- I count carrotts as a veg because they have a nutritional benefit that is absorbed unlike corn. I do however classify them as a starchy veg just like banana is a starchy fruit and try not to go overboard.
Julie- I agree with Jaymi, I take my contacts out very unconventionally but its what works and I could never get a hang on the whole pinching them thing. I only change my contacts once every month of so and I still struggle sometimes to put them in and it takes me a try or two.
Stephie - I'm sorry you're in a funk. I hope that things get sorted out soon, and you get back to feeling like your normal self!
I brought a frozen meal yesterday for lunch, and heated it up today. The color was weird, and two bite of chicken were icky, and one of the mushrooms tasted positively disgusting. I threw it away and went to Subway (which was pretty subpar today), and now any time my stomach makes the slightest digestive sound, I freak out that I've got food poisoning.
Hope things get better Steph.
Yea I still get nervous driving and it's almost been 2 years but I'm sure it won't be as bad for you! I've always been a paranoid driver.
I think Carrot and Corn are Veggies.
Greek yougart Has a lot of protein that's why I eat it. I eat the Okaras (sp) with Honey. I think it tastes just fine.

Do you not take yours out at night? They said I could try sleeping in them after a while but not at first.
The first day it took me about twenty minutes to put in the right eye (which is weaker than my left eye). I got them both out pretty quickly. However, once I got home, I just couldn't get them in. Yesterday, I was in the doctor's office for about 40 minutes and in that time, I put them in once, took them out once and then put them back in. I don't have that much time in the mornings but I still felt proud that I got my right eye in without someone coaching me through it. Maybe tomorrow morning will be better. Since I'm going in again this afternoon for a check, I'll get some more tutoring. Thankfully, I only have one more class to teach as a semi-cyclops. Thanks for the tips and positive thoughts, ladies! This was a big step for me. Bill was supposed to do it too, but he chickened out. I thought about chickening out myself but I decided to persevere on. I think he's a little sad now that he decided not to try it.
Also, I keep reaching up to touch my glasses and push them up my nose but they're obviously not there. Hopefully I'll get used to the feeling of not wearing them all the time.
Julie- Keep practicing. You can do it!
Stephie- Sorry about your funk, girl. Positive thoughts your way.
Would you like to know an irrational pet peeve of mine?
PHONE STATIC.
I'm not talking about poor cell reception... I'm on my office phone, calling a state revenue department. You'd think we could get a decent connection, since we've had telephones for oh, like 100+ years now. But no, no we cannot. It is making me angry, and I haven't even gotten off hold yet.
I had to stop eating all the "good for you" frozen dinners. The amount of salt, even in the supposedly healthy ones, was making me sick.
Angie,
I am scared to death of getting food poisoning. I won't drink milk past the date. I through out stuff if it's even one day past the suggested use date. I just don't want "that". Bill's had it twice and both times it was so bad that he stayed home for a week and had to take major antibiotics.
