kgettingmarried

In regards to gaming, can you please share the threshold for when "normal" becomes "not normal"?  I'd like an exact number please.  You see, I Googled it, but the exact definition seems to only be in your possession.

Also, if you could provide these numbers for other hobbies, (e.g., golf, running, photography, reading, etc.), I'd be much obliged.

This is my siggy.

  • Gym time too, please.

  • Oh, and watching TV (e.g., Iron Chef).  Sorry, meant to add that one to my OP.
    This is my siggy.
  • Lol.

I would say, more than 2 hours a day is not normal.  For any hobby.

    Everything in moderation.

  • This just in: anyone exiting a movie theater is a FREAK.

    Why?

Why shouldn't he spend several hours gaming, when he has several hours to kill? It's better than sitting there doing some other brainless shyt.

When we play, because I play, too.  We chat with people from around the country, many of the quests require more than one person, so you have to learn to work as a team, with different types of personalities, and different levels of skill.  I know that my sense of direction and map reading abilities have definitely improved, because of playing.

Many of the games now have varied options for their story lines, so you can play one game, and end up with a completely different story each time you play. You can't get that kind of experience for your money from a single book, or movie.

When he was a kid, It helped build his confidence, because he was able to achieve goals in game. The work ethic that he developed from playing games,(setting goals, and not stopping till he achieved them) has served him very well in his adult life.  When something doesn't work out as he planned, he doesn't dwell on it. He starts over and attempts it again, wash, rinse, repeat until he gets what he was aiming for.

Also, thanks to gaming, he has excellent manual dexterity, which I am EXTREMELY thankful for, everytime, 3 times a week, if you catch my drift.

What have your hobbies done for you lately?

I could stick around and debate this further, but Batman needs my assistance. Peace Out.

  • I don't even sit down the play a video game unless I have 2+ hours to kill.  Most of the games I play, and an hour is not enough to even get that much enjoyment. Unless I'm doing a quick Madden or Hockey game.

Believe me, he does not have hours to kill.  He has a kid and a job for which he is supposed to be studying at night for upcoming required certification tests, and half the housework, and a wife who would like to get laid once in a while.

He has maybe 6 hours a week to spend on hobbies, same as I do.  Yet he spends 20.

It's excessive.  I get none of that 3x a week stuff, so ya.  Doesn't benefit everyone like it does you.

And ya I enjoy hobbies too, but I not to the point where I ignore him or DS or spend 6 hours every night on them.

    Peace.

  • So, what you are saying is that two hours a night is what works in your relationship. Saying that more than 2 hours a night isn't normal for anyone is what makes you a jackasss.

My DH and I dedicate whole weekends to our hobbies as a couple and as a family. I could read for hours a night after DS is in bed and while DH is working. Does that make me not normal?  See how broad statements don't work?

So because your H is a man-child who spends over 3 times the amount of time he should, playing games, you decided that my husband who does have 20 hours a week to kill, after taking care of all his responsibilities around the house, including boinking me on the regular, shouldn't do as he chooses with that free time.

    oooookay.....Huh?
