I never ask for this.
My nephew has been diagonsed with some sort of leukemia. They are going to Children's in STL to get more tests. They are leaving within the next few hours.
I am beside myself.
My brother is completely broken.
EDIT: He is 9 months old. I am so angry at life right now.
Re: Prayers please...
FWIW, my friends little boy was diagnosed in 2011 with Leukemia as well. He has been doing treatments at Children's and is doing very well. I have heard so many good things about Childrens. I hope for the same for your nephew. Lots of thoughts and prayers for them...that is much too young to go through something so awful.
Hugs for you!|
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Just wanted to give you all an update. Nephew has an appt tomorrow at 10:30. They will be doing additional testing at that time. My mom spoke with my brother and he told her he spoke with their Dr at Children's and the doctor indicated that he was still holding on to hope that the tests tomorrow will not indicate leukemia. Apparently there is some sort of virus that can test as leukemia.
Anyway, the thoughts and prayers mean so very much. I hopefully will be updating tomorrow night to let you all know that your good, positive thoughts paid off and he in fact does NOT have leukemia.
Indicators that something is wrong: fever on and off for a few months, antibiotics not touching anything, he frequently has shakes, etc. They weren't sure at all what was going on and ran blood tests to rule out a lot of things. Apparently this is what came back from their primary doctor, hence the follow up.
On a good note, parts of his bloodwork were good. Like his clotting factor numbers and things that are usually kind of red flags. So, I'm holding on to that right now...and really hoping.
My parents picked up my other nephew (who is almost 5) and will keep him until all this is sorted out.
Thanks again everyone. You're all so, so awesome.
This. Working at Children's with our oncology kiddos is very hard. T & P's coming you and your family's way J. It does seem positive to have other tests come back with normal results. This is a good sign.
