Re: More makeup

  • I've had awful, awful skin my whole life and the only cleanser that has ever worked for me (including prescription stuff!) is plain ole Cetaphil.

  • Hope in a Jar didn't break me out, but it did nothing to improve my skin either.

  • I wash my face with oil, so I win the gross award.

Hezz, I do not recall you having bad skin. I think you're a lying liar.

Oh me too. I swear by cetaphil as a cleanser. I'm just looking for something to get the slime and sweat build up out of my pores when it's 100? and 95% humidity. I feel like my face puts on 5 lbs of gook in the summer.

  • I was truly willing to get past the smell of Hope in a Jar because it really did feel great those first few days, but the sloughing off of my face is where I get off the ride.

I'm amynumbers sure that it's the moisturizer and not the wash. So, if any of you have an amazing face cream to recommend, please let me know.

  • I don't use liner.

Imma need you to post the names or links to the brushes and not just photos if you are going to help the makeup challenged here.

I was still riding the high of my new stuff then... By Thursday of the next week I had a zillion tiny, colorless, itchless bumps all over my face. By Saturday, the bumps on my nose started to open up into tiny, red sores. Check please.  I stopped using it that morning and although the bumps have receeded a bit, they're still there, especially the red ugly ones on my nose.

    Anyone want to makeout?

I take my makeup off with oil, but then wash that off with clean and clear cleanser.  Then I moisturize with cetaphil cream (in the tub) and I'll use aquaphor on any really dry or flaky areas

  • I forgot the liner brush, so I guess I use 3. I generally have no idea what I'm doing with makeup though, so I'm not surprised you're appalled. (I was raised by my dad, folks!)

I got all the pictures here:  https://www.sigmabeauty.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=125

I've heard good things about the brand, but don't own any.  Mostly, you need to look at the shapes.  You want a fairly dense, flat brush to pat color on the lid, a pointy one (often called tapered/pencil) for applying to the crease/outer corner, and a small, rounded, fluffy brush (often called a dome) for blending (I also use it for when I want a light sweep of color on the brow bone or all over).

  • These threads are dangerous for my wallet.  I use two makeup brushes.  One to apply blush, one to smudge my eye liner.  I just use the applicators that come with eyeshadow and blend with my fingers to get my eyeshadow right.  I feel like Fallin needs to take me to Sephora.

  • I don't feel like I have a problem doing all those things with the one brush.
  • I just counted how many brushes I use for eyeshadow and came up with up with 7......I am cosmetically slutty. I swear I don't look like a drag queen though.
  • I'm still very much a makeup newb and have no idea what I'm doing, but I can say that brushes can make a huge difference.  I had been using the brush that came with the NP and thought it was okay, but then I got one that looked just like it from Sigma and wowee wow, big improvement.  I use the three types of brushes Fallin mentioned for my eyes and then a flat angled brush to apply liner.  And one for blush.  When it comes to using brushes on your face beyond that, I am completely lost.

Even though all the credit Hezz's, I feel so proud right now.

When you want to expand, I really like a flat eyeliner brush to "push" dark shadow into the lash line for when you want definition without much of a line.

Holy crap, right?? Cali, my God, how you've changed! And you've exceeded not only my expectations, but my routine! You officially use more brushes than I do, I'm going to need a tutorial when I see you again.

  • I am makeup challenged, I think. I need Fallin or Hezz or Mashed to teach me.

  • All of my makeup fits into a tiny little bag that I get into maybe once a month.

I don't even know how one would use an eyeliner brush.

I fail at being a girl.

thanks for including me, I love makeup and have a lot of it, but I'm not so sure I know what I'm doing with it.  I just love to pretend I know what I'm doing and convince myself it looks good, or at least good enough.

I still haven't the foggiest idea what I'm doing and can't tell the difference no matter what variety of eye shadow colors I use, but I am keepin' on keepin' on.  I'm still utter crap at applying liner though.

Try the push brush.  It's easier.  You just put it right up against the base of your lashes and wiggly it. Repeat all the way across.
