Re: Thursday randoms
It's Thursday. Class day for me boo. Found a very nice job in GR while I was poking around last night. Of course I'm not close enough to graduating to feel comfortable applying yet. I hope it's there at the end of March-ish.
It's raining now. Snow later. I just hope people packed their common sense on the road today. Wishful thinking I'm sure.
I'm hoping we get slammed with snow tonight! That will probably mean a snow day for me tomorrow.
)
I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Saturday I get to go with a group of work people to the Red Wings game....we have a suite! Should be lots of fun.
and I'm jealous!
I have a quiz on the Hamilton-Burr duel on Monday, so I just read the Wiki version.
I plan on reading the actual chapters in the book on Sunday.
2.5-week notice officially put in at work. My stomach feels better now. Looking forward to what's next.
Love the new pic!
I can imagine you feel much better! Yay.
Me too! If anyone in the group drops out...I'll take their place...
Chymes, I'm glad that part is done. Phew.
MissyNa, I think your work is supposed to get it a lot worse than here. Maybe you'll get your wish.
We just visited with my friend and her daughter. Their house is on the market too. They accepted an offer, had a close date set, were looking for a new house, and their appraisal came back very, very low. The deal might be off. The appraisal part haunts me. Now, I'm going to ask Jim if we can do this before putting our house back on the market.
Wop, I feel the exact same way about the snow reports.
BnG, is there any particular area of law or type of place you'd like to work upon graduation? Just curious.
Chymes! I think I missed something in my absence from the randoms. Congrats on the new position! That's great news.
Not really - I updated with the full story in the "Nest check-in" post. I really haven't been on the board a whole lot the last few months due to work craziness.
And thanks!
The bank countered, and we accepted.
I'm going to be the owner of this beauty in about a month!!!
Well I know that I don't want to do criminal law, and don't want to be a litigator. Something contractual probably. I'm in the Estate Planning Clinic now, where I will be drafting wills for real clients! That seems like a good area for me. Although, by many accounts, my age goes against me in that area. I guess older people don't want the youngins planning their estate?
Hmm... maybe. Although, younger people need estate planning documents too!
The news stations need something to sell ads, right?
True, true. I hear a bunch of radio stations plugging their sites for possible school closings tomorrow.
D&MJ - Congratulations!!
GRsp - I would also want an appraisal done before listing a house for sale. While it isn't a necessary step, I would just want to know what a third party appraisal comes up at versus what my real estate agent values my property at.
Chymes - Very exciting that you are in the home stretch.
Anyone have an amazing appraiser?
B&G, there's a guy in GR who is marketing himself as the estate planning and guardianship go to guy for parents of younger kids. He needs some competition, I think.
I don't. However, you can probably make a realistic appraisal yourself with a little bit of research. It will save you about $400 doing it that way.
Maybe it's not worth the savings to you...I'm cheap and I know it.
Take a look at houses that have sold recently in your area. Zillow, Trulia, and other similar websites will have that information listed. Compare bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage and condition of the houses to yours and compare their sale price to your list price. That should give you a good idea of how accurate your list is, and what to expect to sell at.
That is basically all an appraiser will do.
Good luck! 2012 is your year.
Thank you both!
Thank you! I think it's an adorable house, so yours must be adorable too.
The shrubs are staying, but they need a trim.
I'm assuming you replaced yours with flowers?
I think I could handle that!
D&MJ- cute house!
