Re: QOTD Tuesday
1. Transatlantic cruise on the QE2- I remember seeing the QE2 come under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge when I was younger and I just think it would be so cool to cross the Atlantic.
2. Little Palms Resort I would love to go here for our 10th wedding anniversary
3. Galapagos- this is on DH's list and I think it would be great too.
4. Return trip to Italy- we are hoping to go in 5 years with DD
5. Egypt- I think this would be a great family trip when DD is older
Morocco
Iceland
Peru (Macchu Picchu)
Greek Isles
Alaska
Off to the beach
DS 7/18/2010
Handy 2.0 Due Early August
2011/2012 Races
12/17/2011 Christmas Caper 10K
2/11/2012 Have a Heart 5K
3/17/2012 DC RNR Half Marathon
4/22/2012 10M Parkway Classic
10/28/2012 Marine Corps Marathon
1. Italy
2. Paris
3. Hawaii
4. Back to Germany and surrounding countries like when I studied abroad there.
5. Back to our honeymoon resort in Mexico
Italy- not my first choice but my mom wants to go but is afraid to, so we may take her & my stepdad this year. Right now the thought of a flight that long with sprout is terrifying though. probably sometime in the fall.
Lake District, UK- no clue when this will happen
Charlottesville- I hope to do a long weekend sans sprout here in a few weeks. It's close by which is part of the appeal. this is the only 100% realistic vacation this year!
Maine- specific, right?! we'd like to go to Acadia (sp?) park & not sure what else
It's pretty sad that I can't think of a 5th place? Mostly I just want to go back to the Cotswolds but my husband wants some more variety (plus, gotta time it when the exchange rate is OK)
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
We have no solid plans to do any of these soon. If we move this year, we probably won't be able to afford to travel for a really long time and I've come to terms with that.
-London
-Paris
-Argentina
-Spain (this is actually more DH's idea)
-New Zealand
South Africa
Hawaii
New Zealand/Australia
London
Paris
No concrete plans for any of it, particularly with this kid on the way and the burning desire to move out of our neighborhood.
Hawaii
California again - I'd love to take two weeks to drive down the coast - we did a 5 day trip a couple of years ago from San Diego to the Bay Area and back and it was way too rushed. We have this tentatively on the schedule for when LO is 3 or 4, so in 2-3 years.
Ireland
I'll echo what someone else posted about the QE2 - I'd love to take a trans-Atlantic cruise.
Japan
And to add a #6, I can never get too much of London and really want to go back in a few years.
Spain - This is probably the top of the international travel list for us, and as soon as we get up the nerve to tackle a big trip with T we'll do it (she's not a natural when it comes to travel). Probably in the next 5-10 yrs.
Prague
Cinque Terra (Italy)
Croatia/Dalmatian Coast
Bali (but probably unlikely anytime soon - the distance and periodic issues with terrorism sort of scare me off)
1. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland. DH has been to England and Scotland, but I haven't, and neither of us have been to Wales or Ireland.
2. Colorado/Wyoming--we've never seen the Rockies
3. Maine
4. Hawaii
5. The Caribbean, on a cruise
6. Australia/New Zealand
Out of these, hopefully we can make the cruise happen next winter. All I want for Christmas next year is money to go on one. Maine, Colorado/Wyoming, and the British Isles are all in the 5-year plan, I'd say. Hawaii could fit in there too. Australia/NZ is more of a "never going to happen, but it would be so neat if it did" trip.
Italy - This April ;o) But, we will need to go back because we are only seeing a little bit of it
South Africa - aiming for 2013/4
New Zealand/Australia - 2016
China - Not sure how I am going to work this, as DH has no interest whatsoever
Japan - 2018
Tokyo
London
Rio
Madrid
Moscow
All possible, but probably won't happen for several years. Especially now that I have a little one on the way.
1. South Africa
2. Italy
3. Australia
4. Ecuador/Galapagos
5. Alaska
I have every intention to visit all of these places, but some are on a 5 or 10-year plan. Alaska is the easiest, and we'll probably plan a trip there when we think the kiddo is old enough to handle the trip.
south africa
egypt
greece
brazil
argentina
Iceland ? they always have great deals... we almost went in October, but then chickened out (good thing, too... I would have missed my college roomie's wedding)
Australia/New Zealand ? bucket list, no time soon unless DH can go again for work
Cotswolds with DH ? since I went in college and would love to show him
Sweden ? bucket list... for my heritage
Chicago ? the only realistic one
... I've only been once in high school for an overnight trip and DH lived there, family is from there... no excuse not to go! hopefully this spring
Scout
Chocolate Blog!
Good question!
- Australia/New Zealand
- Bali
- Prague
- Argentina
- Thailand
Ireland
Amsterdam/Netherlands
Hawai'i
Vancouver
Yosemite (that might actually happen this spring depending on DH's work schedule)
I also want to go back to: New Zealand, Italy, London (maybe get out of the city), and the Grand Canyon
TTC #2: BFP 12/17/11, m/c 1/7/12 and D&C 1/12/12
baby blog/cooking blog

the greek islands - we were talking about this for our 5th anniversary this september but given the economic/government issues, we're holding off
thailand - possibility for our 5th anniversary
vancouver & the pacific northwest
new zealand
croatia - another 5th anniversary possibility
we will hopefully get to all of these places in the next five years. i try to go to at least one place i've never been each year - whether it's a weekend away or visiting a new country.
1. Tibet (this summer!)
2. Peru (Macchu Picchu...maybe within 5 years)
3. Back to Germany
4. Paris
5. South Africa
St. John, USVI
That resort looks amaaaazing! Have you been?
St. John, USVI
Tahiti
Hong Kong (we'll see, but I may get to go for work sooner rather than later)
Australia (another place I could go with work)
another Carribean cruise (hopefully this year for our anniversary with our friends whose anniversary is 2 days earlier)
Rio
Stand up for something you believe in.
we went to a brunch there when we were in the Keys many years ago and I so want to go back!
1. Africa - a safari, Namibia also looks amazing - years away.
2. Antarctica - will have to wait a long time for this one as DH does not do ships, may need to wait until DD/DS are old enough (talking teenagers) to go with me.
3. Little Inn at Washington - maybe for our 10th anniversary? (4 yrs away).
4. Japan - I used to think we'd go here sooner rather than later but the radiation after last year's earthquake scares me.
5. London - maybe this year if we can talk grandparents into watching the kids.
6. Breezes in Turks & Caicos - in a few years when the kids are a little older.
7. Atlantis in Bahamas - same as # 6.
8. Disney World (see my post on thebump) - 2013.
If money is no object, and if I could do it without DD and impending DS, here it is (we currently have no plans to do any of this):
-Australia/New Zealand
-Israel
-London (I went with a cousin a while ago; I want to go with DH because he's smart on historical stuff and would be able to sort of be a tour guide)
-Spain
-Prague
-Lots of places in Europe, actually. I would probably go anywhere there.
I should caveat this by saying my new job will actually require travel to Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada, so I didn't include any of those places. I'll just go on the government dime.
Kyoto Japan
Galapagos Islands
Spain
Iceland
Russia
Malta
Croatia
Greek Islands
Barcelona
Australia/New Zealand
I'd like to think that I will get to one or more of these places eventually - but not likely in the next couple of years. Malta is my absolute dream place that I'd like to go, but DH doesn't have much of an interest. Anyone want to come with me?
1. Italy
2. Greece
3. Ireland (though I was there before, but not with DH)
4. Spain (with DH this time; I want to go back to Barcelona and Mallorca, but also travel to Galicia, where I believe my ancestry goes back to)
5. Australia
Those are my top 5, but I'd also like to go to the Harry Potter theme park in FL. That one is the most reasonable and likely. I highly doubt we'll get to the other places anytime soon.
Planning Bio
The Bucket List:
1. Australia/New Zealand
2. Hawaii
3. Thailand
4. Really anywhere in Europe
5. Israel
The Reality for the next 20 years as we contemplate vacations with what we hope will be a growing family on a single income:
1. Nearby Beach
2. Family Lake House
3. South Shore Boston and Family House on Cape
4. Pennsylvania Dutch Country
5. Brother's NYC Apartment
6. Camping anywhere
- London (will go within next five years)
- Peru (we are planning to go in the spring of 2013 to do the four day hike to Machu Picchu and then travel around Peru afterward)
- Italy (hopefully within next five years)
- Australia/New Zealand (hoping to do this for our 10 year anniversary in 4 years)
- San Fran/Napa (we will definitely do this in the next year or two...I want to go to both baseball parks in the San Fran area to cross them off my list)
My top four would be:
Russia
Egypt
Greece
Africa
maybe Dubai for the fifth
