I miss confessions, shall we?

I haven't bought non-fair trade chocolate since the C&P around Halloween. I agree it was a ridiculous post, but I just can't stomach it.

I also stopped using shampoo about a week ago and have just been washing my hair with conditioner. I think I heard about that here. Anyway, I asked Mr M how my hair has looked lately and he didn't know until I told him. So I guess it looks okay.

Re: I miss confessions, shall we?

  • I was just going to post one of these.

    My confessions:

I am still in my pajamas and have not showered yet.

I was going to make myself some buckeyes and mixed up the peanut butter mixture. Then I thought "screw it, the rest of it is too much work" and just ate the mixture out of the bowl with a spoon.

Ever since our trip to Disneyworld over Thanksgiving my husband and I have a Twan-like obsession with it.

  • Sometimes, if I drink a lot of wine, my poop smells like grapes the next day.

I'm spending way too much time reading the "Tripp's Tree" debacle on The Bump.

Have you seen ML's Flameful today? I like LTP.

  • There are at least two mis-used words in the document written by faculty that was just sent around campus via email. Without too many details, it's kind of an important document.

    Found so far:

peaked instead of piqued (first freaking line of the thing)

    faired instead of fared

I'm dying inside just a little bit.

Yeah, that's what led me to it.

And seriously. That poor thing suffered for too long.

    Another confession:

A bumpie from the September 2011 board lost her 3-month old son last week to SIDS while at the sitter's. Then the whole thing about Tripp happened later that week. Being a mom has made me soft because I was a blubbering mess any time either was mentioned. Before having Isaiah, I wouldn't have had nearly that kind of reaction. I probably would have said "oh, that's sad" and moved on.

So I don't know if I'm confessing that I was an unsympathetic jerk before or an overly emotional mother now.

  • I know nothing of this Tripp other than I've seen many posts announcing his death and thought it was Bristol Palin's kid.

    What is a Memorial Tree?

    image
  • Last night while half asleep and doped up on cough syrup, my H declared that he pooped trucks.  I laughed so hard, but I laughed even harder when he went on to say, "Why do you think they call them 'super duty'?"

(For those of you whose sense of humor has progressed beyond 2nd grade, duty = doody).

    What is a Memorial Tree?

A very expensive tree that they are going to plant in his memory at a local park.

Seriously, they mentioned in the ML post they have sent the nestie collecting donations over $1000 so far.

  • I don't know who Tripp is.

I rarely leave here anymore except an occasional trip to H&F.  I miss ML.  I should start visiting there again.

  • Instead of donating money to the organizations she requested (or, you know, HER), they're choosing to plant a tree "in a park of her choosing". They've collected around $1000 so far. I mean, the kid was sick his entire life. She quit her job and moved in with her mom to take care of him FT. That shiit ain't cheap.

Fallin, here's her blog, but WARNING. It's entirely sad and the pictures are hard to look at. http://randycourtneytripproth.blogspot.com/

  • I cried at the doctor's office yesterday because I'm super anxious about labor and delivery.  I couldn't see my regular provider, and I just burst into tears when I found out.  I feel like a crazy person.

I clicked on the blog one time, saw the pictures of the poor baby, and clicked right back out of it.  I have no idea what he had, but I just couldn't do it.

  • Brett is sick, and I'm sort of hoping he has the flu so I can be like I TOLD YOU TO GET A FLU SHOT DUMBASS.  And also so he'll get one next year.  But mostly the gloating.

    Jeez, I'm an ***.

My therapist suggested last week that I might have another illness (not MDD) and I'm kind of stunned.  And scared about it.  I know it doesn't matter what the diagnosis is, but damn.

GAH, WHY DID I CLICK ON THAT LINK AGAIN?!

  • Someone just give me the cliff notes to Tripp's story, please.

What kind of tree costs $1000?  Send that money to the family.  Seems like a "no duh" kind of thing to me.

  • Ok, apparently it's $1100. And it will go towards a tree, a "memorial bench", and the balance will go to her.

But do they normally let people plant random trees and benches in public parks? No, right?

There was a base-wide email here the other day that referenced the bob-wire fence. How do you see that in black and white in front of you and hit send?

He was born with EB which is a skin condition where any kind of contact can cause painful blisters.  He was basically bandaged 24/7and eventually had a trach and feeding tube.  His eyelids fused shut at one point too.  He was on constant pain meds.  It's a horrible horrible disease.  :-(

I agree.  It was in really poor taste.  There is just something really crass about saying, "I'm glad the baby is dead"  or however she said it.

According to my 5 minute Google, Tripp had Epidermolysis Bullosa. EB is a genetic disease caused by a mutation in one of the keratin genes. The severity varies with the type and location of mutation. It causes the skin to blister at the slightest touch because the extracellular matrix isn't competent to keep the skin layers together. There's no effective treatment or cure. It's absolutely horrific and babies wind up with blisters everywhere, including the insides of their mouths and throats.

Not only that, but why in the hell would you put that burden on somebody?  How do they propose this is going to work?  They give the tree and stupid bench to the mother, and then they pat themselves on the back?  Or, some random internet stranger does this where it is convenient for her (the stranger, not the mother), and then tells her about it via her blog?  It is all just useless and weird.

Let the poor woman grieve this horrible loss and give her more money to pay down some debt.

  • I am engrossed in the post too. My favorite post was from the Rach21 person who said she didn't care if the medical bills were paid off, she wanted to buy her a tree dammit.

that kgettingmarried person is a troll right? has to be, i have decided. trolls always have a way of being crazy and sympathetic at once and turning any post into a post about themselves.

Tripp is one of our boy names, but I cannot use it due to this and the Palin grandbaby.

I think ltp's comment was meant to be inflammatory but was really insensitive. Now, I will go post it on Tripp's blog so she can know how terrible ltp is. That's what ML does with inflammatory comments, right?
