  • On winter:

    I'm not a fan.  It's -28 here today...at 2:30 in the afternoon.  That's the warmest it's been all day.  With wind chill it's -37

Yuck, I can barely get my jacket zipped up becaues I'm wearing so many layers and I have long jons under my work pants....in the office!
I'm hoping the weather breaks by the weekend.

The coldest I've been in is -6 and that was torture.  I can't imagine those temps!

I haven't experienced weather like that since I lived in Michigan, and I certainly don't miss it!  I'm sure it's not fun to bundle up, even when you're indoors. I hope it warms up for you soon!

It's brutal, absolutely brutal.  Tomorrow warms up to -21 and I know it's going to feel warmer...how sad is that!

Oh, I'll also admit that I've been pinning lots of pictures lately from my blog/Etsy to promote my site.  Sorry if it seems like I've been spamming your boards!  I have gotten A LOT of extra traffic since I did that though, so it's working.  I've also been excited because google searches have led people to my site as well.

I absolutely adore the cards and different crafty things you've been pinning! I am not that creative or patient enough to put things like that together! Glad to hear that pinterest is helping your business!!

This makes me smile! Thanks so much! Sometimes it feels like a lot of work/effort, for such a small product (some cards can take me 30-45min to put together from start to finish), but when I see the end result, it makes it worth it!

  • Well, I have lived in various "Winter" states: Mass, Alaska, Washington, New York...to name a few.

When I was a kid I LOVED the snow! I remember clearly a blizzard on the east coast that shut down EVERYTHING for a week. My brother and I made tunnels in the snow...so cool.

Now, it is very pretty to watch - hate to drive in it only because there are so many idiots out there that do not know how to drive in it. Here in St. Louis we had a mild snow storm - and inch or two on Thursday. This was the day I got this tooth extracted.

I took Jo Ann to school: normally 15 minutes took 45. Coming back: normally 15 minutes, took TWO HOURS AND TEN MINUTES! No joke. So I rushed in the house and brushed my teeth and went the 1/2 mile to the Oral Surgeon and this took another 10 minutes! What was happening is the temperture dropped into the teens and all the slat that had been applied and melted the snow now turned the roads into ice rinks.

When I was stationed Indian Head, MD I went "home" to my Grandparents in Westborough, MA. I left about noon on Friday. Being the naive 23 year old that I was, I never even thought about checking the weather report. The drive started out fine, then, the snow started. I was only a couple hours away and pressed on.  In complete white out conditions for the rest  of the trip I did a 360 degree spin not only once but twice and didn't know which way was the correct way on the highway. After calming down and figuring it out, I followed an 18 wheeler until my exit. Snow subsided and I was just a half mile from home when I went through this HUGE puddle/lake that soaked the spark plugs and killed the car. Fortunately, there was a police officer driving behind me about 50 yards and he pulled over beside me - I managed to glide the car off the road into a parking lot - he said the car was not going to start for a few hours. I told him who my Grandparents wer and he said, "Get in, Jim's good people (and also a retired FBI agent)"

So we drove up to my Grandparents house in a police car...you can imagine how freaked my Grandparents were. This was before cell phones so they had no clue where I was, etc.

Sorry for the length - I guess I'm bored today too! ;-)

  • On winter - I like winter in November and December.  When its fun to get out your winter sweaters and boots and drink hot chocolate.  I feel like holiday time should be wintery.  I don't mind the snow much then.  But then January hits  and I want spring! Most of our worst winter weather happens in January and February.  I hate driving in the snow.  Last year we had what we called a snowpocalypse - we had a foot and a half of snow and were pretty much snowed in 2 days so our boss let us all work from home.  That was fun staying home with H and "working".  But not fun to drive in the week after!

Pinterest - I have a cousin that is 14 and pins all sorts of hot celebrities and puppies and other random stuff.  Fills up my whole page.  I also just realized that MIL is now following me on pinterest and I have been pinning a lot of baby related items.  We haven't told her our TTC plans and probably wont tell her until I am 12 weeks pregnant.  I did see her pin a baby quilt yesterday so I think she is more then ready! lol

Holy moly! There is no way I could deal with that much cold!

  • I hate winter. I like the first snow and that is it. If I don't have to work it's not bad but if I have to work I hate it.

I do like to wear all the cute boot though, lol.

  • It took me forever to read through this thread.

Winter:  Our winter weather varies so much down here. It was in the high 70's today and yesterday, but it's raining right now and will likely get cooler the rest of the week. I'm with Kim though. Once it starts getting down in the 40's is when it's way too cold for me. Also we have a lot of humidity so 40 down here feels colder than 40 in a drier climate.

Pinterest:  I have definitely unfollowed a few boards of celebrities, "hot people", etc.

  • I don't like cold, but I looove snow.  I feel like if it's going to be cold, it might as well snow.  I also like driving in snow.  Growing up in WV my dad had me practice driving in snow, and once on a snow-day I drove to school so I could get my homework.  Now that I'm living in SC I doubt I'll see any for a while. :(
