Where is everyone for this week's edition of Hump Day Bump Day?
Re: Um, Wednesday? Oh Baby?
Julie - have you decided if you want to do international or local adoption? Do you know what age? Adoption is fascinating to me - I know so few people who have done it so it's just foreign to me, and I would love to know more.
I can't get babies out of my head. I'm pretty sure the only time I'm not thinking about them is in the mornings, when I don't want to drag myself out of bed... otherwise, they're pretty much on my mind all dang day.
I was wondering where everyone was! Wednesdays are one of my only days I can get on here, so I was looking forward to chatting!
Speaking of Bump Hump Day, I got a BFP this week....so I definitely have babies on the brain
Ok so my baby update. We had a family baby shower Sunday. Had lots of fun and presents. My step-mom's family is very creative so I got lots of handmade quilts and outfits. Very cute stuff! It's all been washed and is sitting in the crib waiting to be put up.
If you are FB friends with me you saw my very cute crib wall. My best friend, sister, and aunt all helped make that wall possible and cute as can be. I love, love, love how it turned out!
We ordered new carpet for the bedrooms Saturday so we are now waiting until next week to put the bookshelf together and get the crib all set up since they will be moving in it to put the new carpet down. I was getting ready to hang all the clothes in the closet also but I remembered my dad is coming Monday to put new bars and shelves in the closet. So much going on but so glad it's getting done before she gets here!
I start my weekly appointments Monday and they will do my first internal exam which I'm a little weird about but at least I get to know if they think she is in position and all that fun stuff. I wish I could get another sonogram of her so I could see her again. And I have no idea what she is doing in there today but she is moving constantly. Maybe she is moving into position or maybe she is just having an active day but either way she is going nuts in there!
Eeeee! Kate! Congrats!
Dana -- you're almost there!!
Angie -- I was that way when we were TTC, too. It was really all I could think about. I was never one of those super maternal "all I want to be is a mom" people, so it really took me by surprise that it consumed me like it did.
In babyland this week for me... I'm excited, because TONS of last year's clients (and fall 2010 clients) have gotten pregnant lately. I get to have my baby fix without the committment.
Also, Dorothy is speaking in sentences now, which is pretty awesome. It's so wonderful to be able to have a conversation with her.
Mnkate - Congrats!!!
Julie - I think you should start. Our sponsor couple at church waited a long time for their little boy.
Dana - Looks like the room is really coming together well.
We had our first appointment today. It was really nothing at all. She just told me what I can and can't do. What I can and can't eat. She didn't want to do an ultrasound this time and wanted to do it in two weeks which sucks, but what can you do? I just got bloodwork done and I'll find out the results tomorrow.
DH is really cute about this whole baby situation already. You know the gmail commercial which had them start an email account for the baby? Well that's what he did on Friday. It was adorable and sent me an email from the account. Now we just have to send emails to it. It was just really cute that he thought of doing it all on his own.

Thanks Everyone!! It's really early, so I'm still very nervous - I don't think I'll be really relaxed until I have my dr appt and am told that everything looks good. So I have to wait a MONTH until that happens. Just going to hope that mini likes his/her accommodations
Deepthi - congrats to you too!!! Looks like we're just a couple weeks apart!
Julie - my cousin and her DH adopted two children from Mexico. It proved to be a long process with their first daughter, but they had a wonderful experience with the agency. Exciting!!
Thanks, everyone. We will start local/national and then move into international if we (mainly, I) feel if it's taking too long. Bill wants one that matches, mainly I think because he worries how his parents would handle having a child who is not at least the same ethnicity as he is/we are. I don't want to be doing this past 42, because, if we get an infant, I would then be 60 when the child is graduating from HS. Bill doesn't want a child older than 4, but I would take 5. I've told y'all that I honestly don't care about the ethnicity of our children, just so long as they are healthy.
Some of the countries have some pretty strict rules. Some of them say we have to be married eight years (some five) before we can approach them about adoption. Some of them say we have both be past a certain age (one of the countries I believe said 45--90 years in age combined).
Since we're both Catholic, we may go through the church to get ours, but we haven't officially decided on that.
ETA: we're waiting a few more months because there are things that we want to do to the house before we get started on the process. Mainly, there will be no more carpeting in our house (except closets) to combat any sort of mess any animal (cat or human) makes in our house. I am scared to death of what they might find wrong with us/our house.
Deepthi, ugh, sorry, but I like the fruit ticker so much better! Did you get to hear the heartbeat?
I had a dream last night that one of our Nesties was pregnant. I'm not saying who but I hope it comes true.
ETA: Oooh, congrats Mnkate!

Bio Good Times
I get teary eyed nearly every time that commercial comes on. Also, I'm glad they no longer show the "Winnie the Pooh" commercial because I cried every time that one came on too.
Completely off topic, but my kids are not going to know what's going to hit them tomorrow. I'm implementing a new hall pass policy to combat all this "I need to go to my locker" every period that some of them do. For some of them, that means that they're gone almost 10 minutes. That's 20% of class!
Congratulations Kate!
Stephie - you can't do that, you better spill it!
Congrats Kate!
If everyone could send positive vibes my way tomorrow, I am having the IUD put in and hope its easy and not too painful. She said it would feel like a mild labor contraction, but that doesnt mean anything to me. I have to take some pill tonight to start dilating my cervix and she told me to make sure I am laying down after I take it, because it might hurt to move around, that sounds fun.
LOL Stephie. Yes the fruit is so much better.
Congrats Kate!
BL, what time is your appointment?
Hee, sorry Angie I'm not spilling! I've had these dreams before and it has been true so I don't want to jinx it!

Julie,
The sponsor couple did a catholic agency. I'll find out from them which one they went to. They were both over 45 and I know they were really worried about getting match because of it. Once they had the mountain of paperwork filled out I think it went pretty quick. We were suppose to have a meeting one week and they rescheduled it saying that they got a baby!
Stephanie - I'll change it back for you. Not a problem
BL - Hope it goes well. Wow that doesn't sound fun. I'm sure once it's in it'll be fine.

Don't you dare do that! You want to see your baby develop-- I think I can suck it up and live with it.

Thank you!
Positive vibes sent! If it helps put your mind at ease, I had an IUD for three years. I took a few ibuprofen before the procedure, and didn't find it to be terribly painful. It's completely individual of course, but I was in the same boat as you -- not sure what to expect because we don't know what a labor contraction feels like.
There was some cramping for a few days afterward, but I didn't have any pain while moving around.
Again, each experience is different - but having an easy low-maintenance birth control was totally worth it. GOOD LUCK!!!
Kate congrats!!
BL, Good luck tomorrow! I hope it doesn't hurt too bad or is uncomfortable.
MNKate - Congratulations! I'm sure that everything will turn out perfectly.. a word of advice, wait until after your first trimester (and your 2nd baby appt) before you make a big announcement... trust me, I understand wanting to shout it to the world, but just my two cents. Very excited for you!
I think I'm going to take a TN break for a little bit, ladies. Nothing dramatic or anything, my heart is just hurting. I'll still be at the G2G, but going black for a while after that.

Vibes and good thoughts - When I had my IUD inserted, I had some cramping (like period cramps), and a little spotting... but I was totally fine. I hope everything goes smoothly for you as well!

Stephie, its at 10am tomorrow.
Bri-
Dana, I saw your nursery wall yesterday and it was adorable.
One of my sorority sisters posted her maternity pics yesterday, hence my fb post that started the huuuge discussion.
But seriously, their last name is Mallow so they are calling the baby "Mini Mallow." I cannot get over the cuteness.
Congrats on all the babies!
Edit: I meant to add this -- for any of you considering/interested in adoption, this is a blog by one of H's friend's from high school. She and her husband just finalized the adoption process on three siblings just before Christmas, and reading her blog has been super inspirational for H and I.

Honestly, my month board has those tickers all over the place. I can just see someone elses.
Brianna - I understand why you have to do that and I hope you come back soon. You'll be truly missed and this place will not be the same without you!

Bri,
Ditto what everyone else said. Hugs to you and your family.
Thanks for the advice, Bri! That is exactly what we're planning to do. We don't live by family and don't have that many friends anyway - so it's not too difficult to keep it a secret.
Sorry to hear you're taking a break - hope that everything is OK. Sending you warm thoughts
Awww, Deepthi, you didn't have to do that!
Bri, lots of hugs your way.
BL, I have your appointment on my calendar so I can be sending you good vibes at just the right time. Hopefully it will be nothing.
