QOTD Thursday

You have one task/chore/duty/whatever that you can outsource or get help with- what would you pick? I.e. clean the kitchen, do laundry, personal trainer, yoga instructor, bill payer, grocery shopper, driver, etc... However you can only pick one and you can't have someone clean your whole house- just clean the bathrooms OR the kitchen.

Follow the rules :-)

Re: QOTD Thursday

  • That would be a tough one for me.  I think my main one would be meal planner...I don't mind cooking, but I HATE coming up with things to make.  and if I ask DH what he wants for dinner this coming week, he is always like "I don't care, everything is good"  So I want someone to make up a meal planner and grocery list and I will shop and make it.

I know there are companies that do this but I want it to be things my family actually likes eating as well:-)

  • tricky.

maybe driver.  especially if said driver would also take over car maintenance appointments & scheduling & such.

I get lost easily (and find GPS annoying) and I hate making car-related appt.  I always feel like I'm about to be ripped off.  Love if someone knowledgeable could handle them for me!

  • i think i'd go with someone to keep things as clutter-free and organzized as possible, especially since we have an open plan kitchen/living room/craft nook. for us, the worst part of cleaning is tidying up/clearing surfaces because we have one room that serves several different functions.

  • I'd hire someone to take care of our weekly yard work -- mow the lawn, edging, weeding, and keeping bushes trimmed.  It takes my DH hours every weekend from about April-October, and seriously cuts into our weekend family time.  I'd love to have that time back!  But, I've told him until we hire a cleaning service, we're not hiring a lawn service either.  :)

  • I'd probably go with grocery shopper. Esp if that person could also do the meal planning, but mostly if they just make sure my cabinets and fridge are always stocked. I seem to have a lot of trouble with that.

  • If this person was on-call 24/7 and would do this task whenever it needed to be done, I'd choose someone to clean the kitchen. I assume this includes dishes and anything in the kitchen area. It's one of the few chores I can think of that needs to be done every single day, and I hate doing it.

  • Oh I don't even know where to begin... LOL

Probably laundry if said person seperated, washed/dried, folded and put away.

I'd love this job.  My favorite part of the week is menu planning.  I'll also do Pam&John's grocery shopping too.  I love getting groceries.  In return one of you can clean my bathroom and the other can put laundry away.  ;-)

Let's trade. I'll do this for you if you come keep my house organized.

Actually, I'd really like a personal trainer. Someone who will come to my house and kick my butt.

  • Personal chef, hands down! I would love to come home every day to already have dinner made.

  • I'd definitely take the personal trainer.  I tend to lose my motivation pretty quickly but if I had someone that I was accountable to on a daily or weekly basis, I think I would do much better in the weight loss/getting healthy arena.
  • Dishes.  I hate doing dishes.  I claim to not know how to work the dish washer...lol. I have started using paper plates to avoid dishes when DH is out of town.
  • I would be totally selfish and pick the personal trainer.

  • Personal chef!  I would love to have healthy, fresh meals made for me everyday.  I think that would be more effective for me to lose weight.

  • Probably bathroom cleaner, I really hate scrubbing the bathtub and cleaning grout. Lawn/yard service would be a close second, though.
  • Can someone go to the gym FOR me and transfer all the results TO me? Sign me up.

If DH weren't already my dishwasher, I'd say that.

Otherwise, I'd say ironing. It's the one thing I'm really lazy about, even if it's just one silly shirt. I hate going to the "basement" to get the ironing board and carrying it up a flight of stairs because there's no actual space to iron down there. (It's just the garage, a washer/dryer, and a coat closet in our weird stacked TH?and there are no closets on the main level to store the ironing board in.)

  • Landscaper.  Our yard looks like sh!t because I have no interest in gardening and making things grow and look pretty.  Also, they would have to pick up all the poop in our yard.
  • Definitely my laundry- I want someone to wash, fold and put it away. If it were not for my husband, I would go all the way through everything in my closet before doing wash... And I regularly did before we live together. Now that we live somewhere with a machine in our apartment it is a little better because we don't have to spend an entire chunk of time doing it, but the constancy of the folding and putting away is still annoying.

  • Laundry.  HATE IT.  I was all caught up before Christmas, and it was the best feeling of my life, but now I don't think I'll ever be caught up again.

  • Laudry for sure. Someone to wash, dry and hang up/fold clothes would be a godsend in our house.

  • Cleaning up the kitchen every day for all the meals.  That would be my dream.
  • Well, I have a cleaning service come a couple times a month to do the things I absolutely hate the most - deep cleaning the bathrooms, scrubbing floors and dusting - so I'm not going to count the things they do. I would say probably cleaning the kitchen. Someone who would come and clean out my fridge, do my dishes every day and load/unload the dishwasher. This is the one thing DH is terrible about helping with - I swear washing dishes makes him the grumpiest man on the planet so I just try to avoid making him do it for my own sanity - so I would just like someone to do that for me and I wouldn't feel bitter. :-)

  • LOL... SO many to choose from.  :)

I would have to say yard work (seasonally)... in the summers to cut grass, edging, weeding, gardening, etc.  In the fall leaf pickup/removal.

Since the winters are really mild theywouldn't get as much work but would include shoveling snow if needed.

  • Definitely laundry.

  • sort socks after the laundry is done. For some reason i hate this chore....i hate it so much i have resorted to seperating socks out into their own little laundry pile. I will do a load of dark socks/dark towels and white socks/white towels just to avoid them for as long as possible. we probably have more socks than most people bc i put off washing them for so long.

i would also hire someone to specifically clean only after i cook. i love to cook but don't have the time/energy to do the clean up after, especially if it involves a lot of pots, pans and what not.

i finally broke down and we have someone clean the house once a month.....

  • Driver for sure. We don't own a car (yet), so I would love to have the luxury of calling someone up anytime and having a car waiting for me right outside of the door (assuming that the car would be provided by the driver and not me, and that I wouldn't be responsible for gas, maintenance, etc.)
  • Cleaning the bathroom, no question.  I hate this chore with the passion of 1000 burning suns for no particular reason since I don't mind cleaning the rest of our house!

  • someone to cut DS's nails!
  • I'd want a personal trainer who would come to my house at about 7:30 a.m., so he or she would doubly serve as a mandatory wake-up call. I definitely need more discipline if I'm going to work from home successfully.
