I'm sad to hear this news about the laser hair removal - I bought a groupon (that I have yet to even call about using, oops) and I was hoping it would do some good for me.

What area of your body were you wanting to get it on?  Some do better than others!

Yea, the areas I did had darker hair. My lower legs had a little blonde hair that didn't go away. I couldn't do my upper legs because the hair was too light.

Bikini area - so hopefully it'll work out :)

  • The laser helped for a few days after I had it done, but I still have hair. Granted I have the wild, thick, crazy, Indian hair and it takes a lot to try to get control of it. I have started getting waxed and that's been helping.

I don't want to comment one way or another on the other thing.

  • imagejuliebug1997:

BTW, one girl's ticker  said that she's been breastfeeding for longer than her child has been alive (or at least that's how I read it and I like to think I can read).

    Grown Up's, anyone?

The bikini area is where it didn't work so well for me, but it's different for everyone!  So I hope it works better for you! :-). It definitely gets rid of some!

Stephie- I agree that it's better to just try and stay healthy and not focus on the weight goal. That's what I've been trying to do. Although I have been tracking by measurements.

  • I'm glad it's Friday but we have a busy weekend ahead of us.

I've never had laser hair removal but thought about it but since I have light hair I may rethink that now.

I will not comment on the other subject but I will probably be moving over to the Bump boards soon anyway.  I'll still post here when I have something to discuss other than babies but I will be finding a place to talk babies when I need to also.  I'm sorry this is a subject that is bothering so many girls but I do understand the pain, not personally but after going through things with both my sisters.

  • Yeah, Sarah, it has been frustrating.  They say a woman over 40 has to work out an hour a day just to maintain her weight -- so I guess I am where I'm supposed to be.  I am just thankful I started working out in my 20's so I have an established routine that I can just keep doing.  If I was wanting to START working out now for the first time, it would be nearly impossible.

Can someone recommend a new restaurant?  I'm trying to decide where to have Ben take me for V-Day.

Hope that goes well. They told me to shave before I came in and that was one area I don't like to shave.

  • Hahaha Jaymi!  "He's, um, fortyeightmonths..."  So awkward!

So, in the interest of moving away from a topic that we could beat to death, let's talk about cosmetic surgery.  Have you had anything done that you care to share?  Let's pretend for a sec that the cost isn't an issue - would you have work done, now or in the future as you age?  For the sake of simplicity, I'm not considering Botox, etc. as "surgery" even though I think that it tends to get included in that box.  But heck, I guess I want to know if you'd do that too.

If money wasn't an issue, I'd have The Girls done for sure, and will probably have my eyelids lifted when I get older.  I'm not opposed to Botox.  And last time I was at the derm's office, I was looking at their brochures for these laser treatments they can do to your stomach after you have kids or lose a lot of weight - fascinating stuff that I'd probably consider if needed.

I know y'all live east of Mesquite, so how far are you willing to drive?  Do you have a neighborhood preference?

  • Lacey-  I am one of those book clubbers that needs something to bring!  I will bring plates and drinks.

    Any suggestions for drinks?

Bill has already broached the subject after I have lap band later this summer.

Probably next year, I intend to have The Girls done, and might get lipo while I'm at it. There's a layer of fat in my lower stomach that will never go away no matter how much I work out, and that's depressing. Happens when you have babies, but still depressing.

I was always set that I'd just get a breast lift, not an augmentation, but then I consulted with a surgeon who said that breast lifts A) Cost more, B) take longer to heal, C) call "fall" unevenly, meaning you'll end up lopsided. So if they can remove the existing tissue (cutting my breast cancer chances WAY down), and I end up with girls that are high and perky and weigh less and will stay put... just the same size I am now? Well heck, sign me up!

I've had my boobs done and plan to have them redone after I have children.  I was so petite and skinny when I had them done that the doctor gave me ones very proportional to my body (like you probably wouldn't notice they're fake unless I told you). I'm ready for a little bit bigger now! :)  I think that's all I would have done...possibly more when all my skin starts sagging on my face LOL.  Plastic surgery is a slipper slope and I can see how it can get addicting for some.

Julie you may want to look into a doctor that does TMI** skin removal surgery** after the lap band especially if you are paying for it yourself. Are you going through insurance? You know some of them will cover it.

I personally won't get it done. Not because I'm so happy with everything, but I've seen it on many people and I just don't like it. Plus I'm a baby about pain! I can't get sympathy from the husband if I caused it to myself.

  • I'm sorry ladies, and I know I have the unpopular opinion here, but I can't have babies right now for personal reasons and if we are going to continue with the constant baby/pregnancy/nursery room talk I will not be staying here. That is what the Bump is for, and I would know that that is where I should go if I felt the need to talk about those subjects in the future. I know others feel this way as well.

ETA: Sorry to bring it back up after y'all have moved on, but I was just now able to get back on and respond.

We are, but my insurance will only cover a little of it so I doubt they'll cover the skin procedure.  Other than that, I don't really have any ambitions to have anything else done.  I may have to have my chest reduced after I lose some weight to make me look more proportional but I'm not 100% on that.

  • Stephie- Wow that's crazy!  That's a lot just to maintain. I have to try and not weigh myself everyday or I get obsessive. Even though I have to keep in mind that I'm at a healthy weight and its really just fat I want to lose!  Plus I just feel better when I eat right! :-)

I can't think of any cosmetic surgery I'd get done. Hmm

I honestly cannot think of one thing that I would want done.  Not because I think that highly of myself but I don't exactly love being cut open for emergency situations, much less an elective one.

  • *Sigh* this whole thing makes me sad.  I don't understand why there has to be such division.  But then again, I don't understand it in other places either, not just here.

I told Ben I want fakers so bad but he said no.  We were watching this show about some guy that photographed people nude.  It wasn't sexual or anything, it just showed all the pictures at the end.  The girls that had fakers, looked soooo much better, even the older ones.  I mean, when you get to a certain age, it is going to be very apparent if you have fake boobs or not, let me tell ya.  I never wanted them until I saw that show.

That's good to know about the lift versus augmentation.  Not that Ben would let me do that either.

I've wanted to get Restalyn or Botox for awhile now, but....you guessed it, Ben is very against it.  Let's see if he is still singing the same tune 5 years from now.

I am all for anything that makes a woman feel better about herself.

Nope.  I think I had it done on a Thursday and was back at work by the following Tuesday or Wednesday.  I was still sore and needed a little help with anything where I had to lift my arms above my head, but nothing too bad.

I know FW is far from you but the is Blue Sushi here (http://www.bluesushisakegrill.com/) which is really good. We went there a couple months ago. Also Eddie V's (http://www.bluesushisakegrill.com/) - this place has some great food. Jeff took me there to meet some of his friends for the first time I was too nervous to really enjoy the food, but it is great.

*Sigh* this whole thing makes me sad.  I don't understand why there has to be such division.  But then again, I don't understand it in other places either, not just here.

Have you been to Jasper's in Plano (Legacy and the Tollway)?  I really enjoyed it.  Also, I love Truluck's.  There's one in Uptown (you probably already know that) and one in Southlake.

If you do decide to make the trek to FW, I can highly recommend Daddy Jack's Seafood.  We try to go there whenever we go over to Sundance.

I don't like the division either but I also don't like feeling uncomfortable.  I have actually considered leaving for awhile because some of the conversations have been so tough for me to "sit though" and read.  We have girls from all walks of life here.  Some want kids so badly they'll do anything for it.  Some want kids and can get pregnant at the drop of the hat.  Some don't mind the talk but are going to shy away when it's the only thing that's discussed.  Some who have had miscarriages.  I've seen enough to know that we don't mind the updates but some of the other conversations have been really hurtful--granted it wasn't meant to be that way, but hurtful nonetheless.  I don't think there's anything wrong with some asking for the discussions to be toned down.  Maybe we should have a baby/getting pregnant post every day and a "non" post every day.

Some of us have been together a long time and I hate to see this as well.

  • I agree with Stephie, I wish there didnt have to be this division, but I also know that I could never understand the feelings of the ladies that have suffered a loss.

Plastic surgery:  I have wanted to get a breast augmentation for as long as I can remember and it is on the list of things to save for right under a house.  Matt isnt a fan, but its my body so ultimately he said its okay if its what I really want.  I just prefer the look of augmented better than not.

DEEPTHI!!! OMG thank you so much for sharing the link to blue.  That was my fave sushi place in Omaha and for whatever reason I thought it was a local place.  I have tried so many sushi places here and while Mua is a close second none have compared to blue yet.  I may drive to FW for the first time now just to have it!

I am sad because I stayed home today and it is gorgeous out.  I have my balcony open though to get some fresh air in.

  • Stephie,

Have you ever been to The Grape or St. Martin's Wine Bistro?

Both are on Lower Greenville and they're both nice, intimate, delicious restaurants.

It's going ok. I went from a place that had over 200 employees I interacted with to just my physician and me. It's really strange. Also he's in another clinic two days a weeks so it's just me. That's why I'm so active on here now. It's my tunnel to some real people. I email and text friends... Just need to get use to it. I was at my other place for almost 5 years and I was so use to the culture there.

I went to the Grape once but it was years ago.  But you just made me remember I've always wanted to try The French Room.
