Re: Good (Monday) morning!
I'm going skiing on Saturday and I'm super excited about it! I haven't been skiing in more than 10 years, primarily because I haven't had anyone to go with. But SIL's boyfriend is a skier, so she has now started skiing. So, I'm going with them.
I dug out my old skis from the back corner of our shed. They're rusted as hell, but I'm dropping them off at a ski shop today to get them cleaned up. They should be good as new.
That sounds awesome Kasa.
I got a new purse at my friend's purse party - I love it!
I sort of flamed someone on allrecipes.com yesterday for modifying a recipe, reposting it, and then giving it a 5 star "DELICIOUS" review. She did this with close to 10 recipes. I left a 1 star review on one saying it was lame to be modifying recipes, reposting them, then giving yourself 5 star reviews. It really irked me that she did that for some reason. If I posted or re-posted a recipe I don't think I would review my own recipe. I'm pretty sure I'm about to start my period and am irrationally annoyed lately.
It was a chilly one for us! Furnace croaked on Friday, got a semi-fix that night, and died for good on Saturday. New one being installed as I type.
On a related note, if anyone needs a HVAC company recommendation, I have one I'll share.

Wop, that is annoying when people make substantial changes to the recipe and then rate it based on their changes. I agree.
GRKaters, wow, you've had your hands full with house projects lately! And not so much the fun kind either.
Molly, that's exciting for your H! I hope things work out in your favor.
I did not complete my picture-sorting project this weekend. I did get a start on it, but I didn't get very far.
I did complete a couple of other small projects, though. And I spent most of yesterday cooking (lasagne and chocolate cake), which I enjoy doing on Sundays.
Yes please. Also, would you be willing to share the sq footage, make, and pricing? Our furnace is 20 years old, and we're preparing to replace soon.
Morning lovelies
Yay Charity, Kasa, D&MJ and Kate (for getting the new furnace)
Boo for cold nights and PMS (I know it well).
I just kind of sort of got accused of stealing at work. It's laughable and my boss thinks it's dumb too. I can't wait to get out of here. Supposedly, a doctoral student game me a laser pointer to give to a prof (there are two involved) on December 21, a day before the campus closed for the break. Well neither prof have it and keep asking me if I have it, reminding me that it's expensive. Whatever.. I've been here 6 years, why would I steal now?? I don't give a fart how expensive it is.
I'm praying for a job I can start out there after I finish finals so I don't have to stay here until graduation. I am done with this place.
I was finally able to break in my cross country skis on Saturday. It was so fun and beautiful (Pigeon Creek Park). I went with a friend and we had a great time enjoying the beauty and catching up. It didn't seem like I was working out but my bodybugg said I burned more than 800 calories (2 hours)! Plus I am still sore LOL.
Morning all!.
Our house is freezing as well but mainly because its old and drafty and we are not fixing it anymore. But for future reference I would like to know of the place you used GR Katers.
I am really enjoying walling into my house and not seeing the clutter of stuff when you first come in. My small appliance rack looks nice and orderly and give me a happy feel. No I just need to have that feeling carry over to when I get to my dinning room.
Wendy you get 5000 gold start for your work out this weekend. Awesome job.
BnG: WTF!!
Wendy, glad to hear that you have fun skiing!
BnG, that sucks about the missing laser pointer. I hope it turns up soon and they stop asking you about it. Annoying.
That's some bs, I would be giving them hE!! for it!
It's ok. I told the professors and my boss that I did not like the implication and that I'd certainly put anything that had a professor's name on it in their office. My boss agreed and said that the student's should hand anything expensive to the professor's directly. Funny thing is, both professors said the student wanted it to go to the other professor! I bet it's in one of their drawers somewhere.
Whatever. I'm officially in kiss my @ss mode. I'vae been looking for jobs out there and have an appointment with our career development office coming up. Hopefully they can give me some direction- Even if it's part time work. I'd rather be in GR full time on May 1 than have to wait 3 more weeks. I told B about it. And he agrees so...here's hoping, and praying!
B&G, I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
Katers, what company did you end up using?
Kasa, have you read Anne Lamot's Bird by Bird? If so, this will ring true with you: just take your photo project folder by folder. You'll get through it.
I did not have a great weekend. Seasonal Affective Junk came and sat on my lap. We went to Lowes last night and bought a replacement bulb for my light. We watched Ides of March with me under the light. Felt much better at bed time.
I think I mentioned my frustration with my current professor. Well, this weekend she brought someone with her. Her only introduction is "this is dr. ____, she'll be your substitute for the next weekend." We only meet 3 weekends per class. We're having a sub for 1/3 of the class? Huh. Maybe she'll be better.
I haven't read this book, but now that I look at it on Amazon, I think I should. It would help not only my photo project, but probably also my Nanowrimo project. The reading and editing of that is a project that I've been completely and totally overwhelmbed by for the past year, despite B's encouragement.
Sorry to hear that you had a rough weekend. I'm glad to hear that you got a new bulb and are starting to feel better though.
How was Ides of March? That's on our list.
Hello lovely ladies!
Boo to busted furnaces, pms, stealing accusations, S.A.D.... but "Yay!" to skiing, new purses, and a working happy light.
I am just waiting for sweet baby J to wake up so we can head to the hospital for his blood draw (for allergies). Then next week they will do a skin prick tests on him. The allergist appointment was less then uplifting last week. He feels J probably has severe allergies (particularly food) to multiple things. Sigh.... The good news is his eczema is looking better.
And even better news, my little brother is coming to visit today!! Yay!!
I second GRSP recommendation of Bird by Bird!
Hi, Mira! Great news that your brother is coming for a visit.
Sorry to hear that the allergist thinks that J has food allergies. Apparently my husband has a lot of severe food allergies when he was very young, but he grew out of them by the time he was 2 or 3. Hopefully, that's the case with J too.
(((hugs)))
I'm sorry you have to deal with allergies too. It's so hard watching your little guy suffer.
T had the skin prick test when he was about hmmm...I don't remember....maybe 10 months? They only did about 10 pricks and said they would wait until he was 2 to do the full test. I suppose I should call and see if they want him to come in. He hasn't had any allergy/asthma attacks since the end of November, so calling to make the appointment has not been on at the top of my to do list.
He has developed eczema in the past few weeks too (his pedi says that eczema and allergies go hand in hand, oh joy), and we got him some steroid cream for the spots that seem to be working wonders. I can't believe how quickly the severe spots have cleared up.
Anyway, I hope all goes well and they determine what he's allegeric to quickly so he can start avoiding those foods and get better quickly!
Kasa, it's a great bood for writing, and for life. If I had any idea where my copy was, I'd bring it to you today. It's in a box with all of our other books. It's a quick and fun read.
Mira, I'm sorry about the suspicion of allergies and the process you guys have to go through to figure it out.
Thanks. I think I really need to read this. I just requested it from the library.
I heard on the radio it's blue Monday. I totally feel it. Everything is annoying me today :-(
It's got to be the dark, dreary, rainy weather. I've been very annoyed all morning. Actually looking forward to class tonight.
Sorry to those who are having crummy mornings.
I'm in a weirdly chipper mood today. I'm attributing it to the fact that I'm going skiing and that makes me very happy.
