Re: B&M Monday
I slept a lot this weekend too. Friday night I took a 2 hour nap after work and then slept about 10 hours that night and lounged all day long with another short nap. Yesterday I ended up having another 2 hour nap. Needless to say, I didn't get much done this weekend.
I have a friend whose husband won't eat veggies and she chopped up some spinach and put it in her spaghetti sauce. I may try that. I think that I must have eaten more veggies that Bill growing up (we ate green beans, peas and corn--although these are now being called "starchy vegetables, boo) whereas they apparently didn't eat that many and he won't eat them now. Although, he ate a lot more fruit than I did growing up. Anyways, I digress. I did notice that he had some broccolini in the fridge so maybe we're having that. I can't do regular broccoli. It smells disgusting to me.
Do any of y'all eat tofu? I have such a sensitivity to soy that I'm hesitant to eat it. I've read/heard that it takes on the taste of whatever you're cooking it in. Also, I'm not really sure if I want to go there. I know it would be healthier for me, but I also get migraines after having soy in Chinese food sometimes. In an effort to be healthier, I'm willing to try some new things but I don't want to be incapacitated with migraines like I have been in the past.
There were some people complaining about the eggplant and they nixed it and just had double zucchini. I've never had roasted eggplant so I wonder how much it would change the taste.
For the first time in years I made eggplant zucchini pizza for lunch on Saturday. It's a low carb option and pretty tasty.
I make my own spaghetti sauce and throw whatever veggies I can in there and no one knows the difference. Neither of us care for mushrooms but if they are finely chopped and then I puree them even more, you can't taste them. I've done spinach before, it just made it look a little funny. I had a little broccoli and it's 'leaves' that had fallen off. They shared in a talk show that store bough spaghetti sauce is full of sugar so it's better to make your own.
I make a pie with tofu as well as a breakfast dish that DH found. Both are yummy but the breakfast is filled with veggies and is very filling, whereas the pie is filled with chocolate chips and alcohol.
That sounds yummy Stephie.
Sorry about the news regarding your uncle. Hope his appointment goes well this afternoon.
Thanks ya'll. My great uncle is very dear to me--and to Melodie as well. I'm hoping for a good report today.
I don't like the texture of tofu. I always pick it out of my pad Thai. It's mushy.
Green veggies have bothered me for a long time--almost to the point that they are intolerable. I still have to be careful, take gas medicine before/after, etc. with some of them and a few I have to avoid altogether. The GMs really bothered me at first but now I am OK.
My wrist is STILL bothering me 2 months later. I can hardly lift weights at all without it hurting and it's depressing.

We used to make our own spaghetti sauce but I've gotten away from that. I absolutely refuse to do mushrooms or onions. I just had bell peppers at Disney World for the first time this past summer at their Chinese restaurant. I did enjoy them a lot though. Onions give me bad heart burn and mushrooms..., well I've been to Italy and France and I know what their genus is--fungus. I just can't. Not at all.
Stephie - have you gone back to the doctor about your wrist? Maybe there is some sort of physical therapy you can do (on your own, like with light hand weights or bungees or something) to get it back to normal.
My manager just sat in the kitchen area & ate with me & my coworker, and it was actually pretty nice. I wish she'd do that more often, because sometimes I feel like even though I've been here almost a year, and it's a very small team, I hardly know her personally, and I wish that wasn't the case.
ETA Julie - did you have green bell peppers? If so, try the reds & yellows - I love love love them, and am just so-so on the greens.
No, but I may have to. I kind of feel like it may always bother me now. We settled with the insurance company today but I may have to go back on my own. I've just been trying to wait it out because it will be a hassle, time off work, can they really do anything about it, etc.
ETA: Julie, are you sure the headaches aren't from MSG and not soy? I get them from MSG which is often in Chinese food.

Stephie, I will keep your family in my thoughts today.
I am glad I like veggies so much, mushrooms and tomatos are in my top 5 favorite foods.
Taxes are confusing. That is all.
Sometimes I think I suffered from a temporary bout of insanity while in college that resulted in my choosing my career path.
DH and I have been talking about making our own tomato sauce but haven't done it yet. Where did y'all get your recipes for that or did you come up with it on your own. I'm not the best with coming up with recipes on my own
I've also been working out 4-5 x week since about November and I swear my hips have gotten bigger. I've lost inches everywhere else but now I can't even button up some of my dress pants
Ugh, this times a billion. Thank God business tax stuff is Mack's job. It's really demoralizing to have a fantastic quarter, and then realize that means we have to pay 20% of it to the government. It's almost ALMOST an incentive to not make more money.
I know for a fact my butt is bigger since I started doing Bodypump (which is alot of squats and lunges with weights.) In my case though, it's good because I had NO butt before!

Mine is just a combo of crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, ground beef, and whatever sauces I feel like throwing in. It's from my mom, maybe my grandmother.
Sarah - I think the third book was my favorite, but it ripped my heart out several times.
Deepthi - Thank you!
Julie - reminds me of the Daily Show clip about teachers living "such cushy lives."
I am getting increasingly cranky. Instead of my healthy, tasty lunch, I cancelled a meeting and when to Whataburger. I think I need a nap.

I actually get them from both. I get it very quickly from soy (and also teriyaki) while MSG will build up in me. Which is why I will only do soup every so often and not multiple days in a row.
You could try Tamari sauce in place of teriyaki sauce.
Tomato sauce: I just do onions, garlic, peppers, and san marzano tomatos. I let it simmer for about an hour or so then blend Matts up so its smooth and leave mine chunky. Sometimes we add ground beef or turkey and sometimes we dont.
Angie, I dont know how you do taxes for a living. I am getting so much conflicting information. Even from different h&r blocks, which is really frustrating.
Just because our office is in a certain building does not mean all of our courses are in the same one. Look up your schedule and take a look at where they meet *before* you come to school. Whoops, you just missed another day of courses.
My left hip is still hurting and decided to flare up when I went walking at lunch. I really need to get my referral and go to a chiropractor and that was my plan today but I've been preoccupied.
Allergies can suck it as well.
My brother is perfecting his Italian cooking skills and he and my dad brag about the sauce all the time. Meanwhile, I still haven't tried it. However, I have/had (I don't know which) a Rachel Ray recipe and she recommends blending it up too if you don't like yours chunky. I don't.
I have a Emeril recipe for tomato sauce that is very good. I add meat to mine. I have never tried it with fresh herbs but I imagine that would be even better. I've made this lots of times.

I can never keep up with you guys.
Stephie- I'll be thinking about your great uncle! Also, you could possibly have arthritis in your wrist. I now have severe post-traumatic arthritis in my left ankle from my accident. They should be able to tell with xrays. Are you taking anything for it? I've tried 3-4 different NSAIDS for mine, and had to get a steroid shot this last time. But definitely don't just "live" with it! I know how depressing it can be to feel broken/weak.
The third Hunger Games book broke my heart! And it didn't even get fully resolved until the.last.sentence. I was like WHA?! That's it?!
Taxes: I was irritated last year because I had paid over $5K in taxes more than Dan and yet we got the exact same amount back. Hmmph. I hope being married will be a little helpful? Anyone have experience with filing jointly? Do you get more back or no?
Can we do one of those cooking parties together? It sounds interesting. I love cooking but Daniel is only home for dinner 2 nights out of the week.
I need to eat more veggies, I'm going to have to try y'all's spaghetti sauce recipes. My health questionnaire for work today told me that I also need to work out a lot more. Yea, that's kinda hard, but thanks anyways.
I flew through this thread so quickly earlier. Stephie, I will pray for your uncle!
Angela, I would be down with a cooking party. I don't have a house, or a table, so I would be a terrible hostess, but I loooove to cook!
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v123/magicwombat/?action=view
Ugh, no way will I get a shot in my wrist! Aleve and Advil don't do much for it. I do use heat on it almost every night. I'm thinking of maybe trying Icyhot or something. What makes it feel best is not using it--but of course that's impossible!
Today has shown me that I cannot lift weights yet though. Like at all.
I would love a cooking party!

Deepthi, your newest fruit comparison reminds me of the time my MIL walked into her kitchen to find a note next to the coffeemaker. It had a smiley face made out of blueberries FIL had picked and said, "Have a good day. I love you berry much."
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v123/magicwombat/?action=view
Awww.. That's really cute. I actually trying not to look at it. It's making me sick for some reason.

I'm down with the cooking party too.
I went through 4-5 prescription NSAIDs, on top of the pain pills. OTC stuff did nothing for me. Arthritis is a b*tch!
And I know it's scary, but those steroid shots work miracles. That month following the shot was the best I've felt in almost 2 years.
