QOTD: West Coast edition (aka oops)
Sorry, I got my dates mixed up and didn't realize this was my week for QOTD. I know your day is almost over, so I'll make this one easy:
Red or white? (of neither, I will also accept bubbly, beer, booze, or abstinence) If you have a favorite winery/varietal/brand, let me know.
I promise to have better question(s) the rest of the week.
This week I am enjoying all of the above. It's restorative.

Re: QOTD: West Coast edition (aka oops)
Overall, I'm a seasonal drinker. White & (dry) roses in the spring/summer, red in the fall/winter.
However, I'm all about bubbly all the time. Specifically, I really like St. Hilaire Blanquette for "every day" bubbly ($16). We first had that when we went to France we I was pregnant & loved it even though I don't really like actual champagne or really any other French wines.
same here
i also love a good cocktail, especially if there is bubbly involved and am a beer snob. basically, an equal opportunity drinker!
fabbioli is one of my favorite wineries i've ever been to. i also like hiddencroft, heron hill (finger lakes), sherwood house and shinn estates (north fork), and sakonnet vineyards (RI)
I definitely choose (decent) champagne over wine any day - my favorite "go to" on the inexpensive side is Roederer Estate. White Star used to be my favorite pricier champagne, but they've replaced it with Moet & Chandon Imperial and I just think it tastes moldy.
If I had to pick red or white, I'd pick white, specifically Sauvignon Blanc - I like a nice crisp, fruity, but not sweet, wine.
If you set me in front of a bar and said I could have anything I wanted I'd probably choose pear vodka and club soda. Yummy.
I'm a vodka drinker primarily, but if we're talking wine, I like it white and sparkling.
My favorites include: champagne, prosecco, vino verde, pinot grigio, and riesling.
Stand up for something you believe in.

White, specifically Riesling, specifically Relax. Despite the name, it's German.
I get a case of Relax every Christmas!

I'm another one of the seasonal gals.
The only wineries I have been to have been in va. I really enjoy Notaviva & Loudoun Valley Vinyards.
why we are friends.
and T&C - glad you made it out there, and if you're visiting your BFF, bring me some of "her" wine -- still the best tasting we had there last April! (so good we came home with a "surprise" bottle we don't even remember buying!)
"What is a week-end?"
If I had to choose one- I would pick red. I am a seasonal wine drinker too so I do like white in the summer. I like craft beers too.
I enjoyed the Chandm Winery when I was in California. In NoVa- I really like Hiddencroft.
Beer! The hoppier the better
I do drink red wine occasionally (I like Pinot noir and Syrah), and will drink sparkling wines (I like prosecco).
But I'd far rather go to Churchkey or Rustico than a wine bar, and out trips to Napa and Sonoma have been for brewery tours (Russian River is the best).
Longtime nesties might also remember my fondness of frozen strawberry margaritas.
All of the above. Except abstinence.
Red: I am on a pinot noir kick. Specifically Montoya.
White: Sauv blanc. or Conundrum
Bubbly: Gloria Ferrer Blanc de noirs
Beer: Flying Dog In Heat Wheat or Hoegaarden
Booze: Key Lime Martini
All. I don't discriminate
Red - I'm just now starting to like reds - I really enjoy Malbecs
White - Sauv blanc or pinot grigio
bubbly - Great Western Brut or Extra Dry (best $6.99 you will ever spend)
Beer - for everyday, I like Miller Lite, but for fanciers days, I like Stella, Yeungling, Belgium whites, Corona, pretty much anything that isn't too hoppy or dark.
Booze - pretty much anything. I'm on a vodka, soda and cran kick right now.

i keep looking for this when i go to wegman's and can't find it
Waaahh. Do you go to the one in Fairfax? There's an old lady that goes in and buys most of them the day they get a shipment. ***. lol But - it's on the first "cabinet" of champagnes on the left when you go in, on the very bottom, on the left.
I can't remember where it is in the Sterling store. I've only gotten it there once.
Most recently, my bff brings me cases when she comes from NY because she can get a case discount and it turns out to be about $75, which is way cheaper than wegmans, since they discontinued case discounts
I'll sell you a couple bottles the next time she comes

Have you tried Chateau St. Michelle's Eroica Riesling? It's pricier but totally amazing.

You know what's sad? We didn't even go to Duckhorn because the tasting room is closed this week for renovations. BUT, my friend gave me a (very belated) wedding present--a Howell Mountain 3 liter from 2007 (the year we got married. But she made me promise not to open it for another five years at least.

i am going to ask my bff to look out for it, i haven't been to fairfax in awhile but that's her regular wegman's. i've mostly looked at leesburg and lanham. i really liked the bully hill sparkling wine but i think it was like $14 so obviously $6.99 wins!
who the hell is that effing lady buy up the cheap, good bubbly?
Um, all of the above?
Glad you're having a good time Tom&Court!
