Re: Oh Baby Wednesday!

  • Oh, Angela.  I really hope that's not the case, but if it is, lots of prayers for effective treatment!
  • Angela - I hope you get a good report! I agree with Stephanie you are not defective.

Only in FW can you pull out a shot gun and "show off" to your friends. I was really wondering if I should call the cops or not. They've driven off now, but really they had the gun out for at least 5 mins or so.

  • Dear Angela,

You are not all defects.  You are wonderful and friendly and caring.

    Nesties,

Do any of you use one of those stick curling irons?  Just wondering about them and what makes them so great and, oh yeah, how they actually work without a clip to hold at least some of the hair there.

ETA:  Also, I think I want to get this dress for the prom this year.  Clicky. Opinions?

So I mainly just lurk here since I'm not married yet but Julie I LOVE that dress :) Would you be getting it in the red or a different color?

    Oooh, I love it!

I have one of those for my extensions--they get really, really hot so they are good for those.  They come with a glove that you wear on the hand that you wrap the hair around so that you don't burn the crap out of yourself.

Red is my signature color.  Sorry, I watched "Steel Magnolias" last week and pink was her signature color.  But, yeah, I own lots of red/dark red/maroon things.

ETA:  Thanks, Stephie and Kristan.  I just bought it in my normal size, although after trying dresses on there last weekend, I was able to go down a size in a few of their dresses.  I hope that I don't wear the smaller size in this one because they don't have the smaller size!

  • Love the dress - get it!
  • Ok, I have a question for you--if you were staying in San Francisco in the Financial District, which hotel room would you pick (both are about the same price).

Hotel room #1 - 260" sq ft, 32" flat screen, with a bay view.  Hotel has free in-room wi-fi, gym, and spa.

Hotel room #2 - 413 sq ft., 32" flat screen, no view.  Hotel has a gym but no free in-room wi-fi.

So basically, would you pick the room with a view or the bigger room with no view?

I really like the red! I'm glad you would get it in that color because I really don't think that dress would look as striking in another color :) Fingers crossed that you got the right size :)

However, I will qualify my answer with a question:  how long are you staying?

  • Julie - I love the dress. Red is my signature color too! Hope you don't mind sharing?

Stephanie - I would go with Hotel #1. It offers more and the view would be worth it IMO. The other one would be larger, but you don't get anything with it.

  • imagejuliebug1997:

7 nights.  I'm leaning towards #1 too--but ugh, it sounds soooo tiny.  Like what I picture a hotel room in Europe looking like.

Definitely the room with the view. I always go for what gives you the most out of your locale -- which would be the amazing view. You won't be in your room THAT much, right? And the spa always comes in handy too......

    Another vote for #1.

  • :) I love you guys!!

Stephie- room 1 for sure, as long as their rating/ reviews were equal.

    7 nights.

That numbers makes me lean towards #2.  On a longer vacation, you may spend a little more time in your room than a shorter vacation.

  • Ok, thanks ya'll.  We'll probably think about it some more.  Ben's BFF is going with us and he picked hotel #1.  I was just hoping for some more space.  We were going to splurge for a room with a view on a high floor and a balcony--but I think we've ruled that out as the price difference was substantial.
  • I'd say the first room too.  260 sf is really like 16x16, which isn't that small... just unpack when you get there so that your suitcases aren't in the way, and that will help a lot!

Also, I am eligible for a phone upgrade and mine is making me mad.  I don't want an iPhone.  Right now, I'm considering the Samsung Galaxy & the Motorola Atrix.  Any input on either of those?  I'm terrified of making a bad decision, because I'll probably keep it for two years.

  • Angela - I'm sorry to hear about that.  I hope you get good results from your blood test!

Julie - I really like that dress!!

Stephie - I'd probably go with Room #1 too.

  • Angie,

I've heard great things about the galaxy. I heard it's better then the iphone right now. Apparently if you want something you can customize then Android is the way to go.

  • I was just reading a thread where someone had like 10 people in the delivery room.

Who do you want in the delivery room?  Would you prefer to have some time for just the 3 (or 4) of you or are you okay with anyone and everyone in your room after delivery?

For those of you that have been there, done that, who did you have?  Would you change your experience any?

I have no idea what BTDT means.

I had a big private LD room at Presby.  People were in/out all day while I was laboring which was fine as the room was plenty big--like a suite.  I was three sheets to the wind anyway.  During delivery, it was just my ex-husband and I and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else in there.

The next day, I had a million visitors and it wore me out.  AND--I was disgusting.  Sweating like crazy, gross, etc.  I still had a big private room, but by the end of that first day I was worn out.  Plus Mel was in the NICU so that was of course stressful.

Personally, when I deliver, I just want Chris there with me.  My mom is the only other person that I would even consider having in there with me.  Everyone else can just wait until I'm done! :-)

My coworker and I went to walk at the mall at lunch since it was raining out.  She bought me Paciugo and a cinnamon pretzel :-p  What is with my bad eating lately?!  But I found an awesome coat for only $12.99!  Yay!

I also don't know what BTDT means.

When Jack was born, I had my doctor, the pediatrician, two nurses, the anesthesiologist, my mom, a friend, and three med students. Don't remember a bit of it.

When Dot was born, it was Mack, my mom, our doctor, one nurse. Easy peezy, and since I was natural, I appreciated the quiet so I could concentrate.

  • BTDT= Been there, done that.  At least that's what I take it to mean.  Maybe I just made it up, LOL.
  • I feel bad saying this but I did not lean on my (ex) husband during delivery at all.  I remember just grabbing at the nurse that was closest to me (I had several, as the whole NICU team was there waiting).  I would just grab her and lean into her with every push.  Poor thing.

ETA:  BTDT:  Oh, there are a litany of things I would change about my experience.  I'll save it for next week as I am too busy today.  I also have a story about my mother that I will share--I don't know that I have ever gotten it over it in 18 years.

I only want Chris in the room while giving birth, but before/after that I don't really care.

Sarah - At least Paciugo is less fattening then regular ice cream...you gotta find the silver lining! :-p

  • Angie- my phone messed up a month or two back and I had a full on melt down because I didnt want a new phone, thank goodness they fixed it.

Re people with you for labor - we all know I dont want kids, but I always promised my best friend that I would be there with her when she had a kid.  We are now 26 and she still asks me a couple times a year if I intend to fulfill that promise and I certainly will if she still wants it.

    Ah, gotcha.

The stuff I didn't love about my first delivery, I changed with my second. I labored naturally longer, I stuck up for myself and insisted that I be allowed to walk around and eat and sit on the med ball during contractions. All of that helped so much. Flat on your back is about the least natural way possible for your body to labor productively, so I avoided it as long as possible.
