Re: Monday, Monday
I had a really nice weekend. Skiing was awesome on Saturday. And yesterday was pleasantly lazy.
A few interesting things I learned this weekend:
- SIL and her boyfriend are planning to be "officially" engaged within the next few months and are talking about a 2013 wedding.
- My brother is moving in with his girlfriend within the next couple of months when his lease expires. (This was a little surprising to me.)
- My husband was voted second most shy guy in his high school class. (How have I known him for 13 years and yet I didn't know this?!)
Kasa - Glad you had fun skiing!
D&MJ - Hope you are feeling well.
Our weekend was very low key. We are gearing up for Henry's 2nd birthday this weekend!! Party on Saturday, actual birthday on Sunday. I am very excited to get the families together.
Kasa, big news from siblings! I'm glad your weekend was good, and skiing happened. 2nd most shy? So, in the event that the most shy guy in the class was unable to perform his duties... ?;)
We had a great weekend. Visit from my parents, driving around the lakeshore, a walk on Grand Haven's beach: it was terrific.
A struggle is probably the best way to describe it. Being a mother to a teenage boy is just about enough to kill ya. 1st seamster grades came in. F on all exams and that leaves him with F's as a final grade in his core classes. The side effects of the Adderall seem to be worse than the last couple of years and he just can't get past the mental blocks that he has. I think it boils down to some kind of control issue. He has to be the one in control no matter what and he has been like that for years. We are looking into counseling again.
Other than that...
I got out of the house on Sunday and saw an old work friend and caught up. I think we recovered from our power outage on Saturday and now have 2 bags of ice in the freezer .
So far today I've picked up a few groceries (I like my Meijer at 7am) and reorganized my pantry too.
Weekends are never long enough!
Kasa, glad you had fun skiing! DH has never been skiing and I've only been once over 10 years ago. I really want to go again but we just can't find the time when we have the grandparents available as a sitter.
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of our tax documents. Because of the short sale of our flint house (yay AND boo) we have no idea how our taxes will end up. We could potentially owe quite a bit and I just want to get it done and over with so I can stop worrying.
Hugs, Deeder. I hope you guys figure out the right combination for him.
I forgot, we also had a group come to our church and perform the lion dance for Chinese New Year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_dance
It was awesome.
Morning.
Weekend was ok. My client stood me up, so I will have to deal with two clients on the same day in 2 weeks. Whatever... I just want this crap to be over. The crap being this semester.
I've got "The Mondays" (Office Space anyone???) The kind where you're cussing within 5 minutes of being at work.
H is on his first work trip. He's excited. I'm jealous lol
Hugs Deeder.
Scowl, I'm sorry, Kasa.
Deeder, it sounds like counseling is a good idea. He understands what happens if he doesn't pass core classes, doesn't he? I'm sorry you've got this on your plate.
As much as we have tried to explain it. He has wanted to take driver's ed. and he said not until you pass all your classes. That deal has been on the table for 3 years now. I don't know if he just doesn't get it or doesn't care or is just lazy? He think that he can just walk into a factory and get a job and that is what he wants to do. It beyond frustrating because he isn't dumb he figured out and researched how to fix a 1972 toro snow blower that wouldn't work at all and now it does.
Freeburger, give it another year or so and you can get Ben on skis! Those little kids on skis are adorable! My husband had never skied before either. He took a lesson on Saturday, and by the end of the day he was enjoying it (it was a slow start, though). But, I really enjoyed it. It's so nice to be able to get outside and be active during the winter! I hope you're able to find a chance to get back on your skis soon!
Deeder, I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say good luck with your SS.
This weekend was relaxing.
Has anyone seen seen the movie 50/50? What did you think? I thought that it was ok.
I so didnt want the weekend to end. Sat I went to a friend's daughters bday party at the rolling skating rink. My friend's ex-husb was there and he was acting like such an idiot trying to make a scene. Loser.
Yesterday I got up at the crack of dawn to do laundry to I could be the first to the machine before anyone else got there. So that was my weekend - nothing exciting.
We spent Saturday night at a friend's house in Kalamazoo (many friends in from out of town for a worship conference). I slept on the floor and get about 5 hours of poor sleep because her church service was at 9:30 a.m.
Got home Sunday around 3 p.m., had to turn right around and go to my desk job from 3:30-11:30 p.m. Just about fell asleep driving there (in the snow). Was dreading the late night since I had to start my maternity-leave-coverage job this morning at 8 a.m. sharp.
11:30 p.m. departure time turned out to be...12:30 a.m....because at 11:15 p.m. the cops were tipped off to a dead body in one of our residents' homes. The residents are in Arizona for the winter. They think it might be a family member, and possibly suicide.
Made it to the meeting this morning at 8. My eyeballs are on fire, I'm so tired.
Wow Chymes! Things got exciting for you, just too late. What a sad story.
I hope you get a good sleep in tonight.
Kalamazoo sounds like a fun gathering. Did you feel like a teenager again, sleeping on the floor?
I did, only with an aching back. So, I guess, not really.
It was fun, though. Proof that pastors like to party, too.
It confounds my brain every time I see "maternity" in a post from Chymes.
I like to keep things interesting.
So, the nest is being fussy today, hey?
Deeder, yoga can be super challenging! I'm a bit obsessed with it, though. I try not to talk about it too much here, though, because I don't want to be annoying.
But I do love to talk about yoga.
According to my blood type diet I tried a few years back. Yoga is suppose to be one of the better ways for me to workout. I find it calming, sometimes to calming because there are time I'll start yawning 3 poses in. My main struggle with yoga is that I am not flexible in anyway. Even the basic positions are hard for me.
I've been doing yoga for several years now, and I'm still not very flexible. I don't think I ever will be -- I just wasn't built that way. But that's the beauty of yoga -- any pose can be modified to meet the needs of your own body.
I love how yoga calms my body and mind. I can tell when I go too long without it -- I get anxious and overwhelmed.
So annoying!
I really need to get back into yoga. I love it. Even though I'm overweight somehow I'm still flexible. It makes me feel so much better when I get nice and stretched out.
I have the Mondays [and the Wednesdays] every week. 9:10 class? Do not like. And I even consider myself a morning person!
I'm adding "Scheduling Constitutional Law at 9:10 M/W" to the list of things the admins thought up exclusively to torture 1Ls. The list is getting very long.
I had to do a double take at this, too.
