Re: Not sure who's on for QOTD, so I'll throw out another...
All in all, with our small budget...we had a very nice wedding. But since you asked...
-rent a bigger dance floor
-find a dress with different material (not shiny in pictures!)
-if we had more money, a more expensive/photojournalistic photographer
-do engagement photos
-not wear my corset so tight so that I could have room to breathe and eat!!
-hire a better organist. And I wish I thought to ask my flute teacher to play (the one who passed away a year and a half ago) so I could have that extra memory of her.
- I would have hired a better photographer. We also hired a family friend, and she was okay, but not great. She also did my sister's wedding, but I later realized that my favorite pictures from my sister's wedding were ones that other people took. We should have used DH's journalism contacts to find a photojournalist or gone through the local arts school to find a student with a cool style
- Made sure that step-MIL converted the wedding video footage she shot into a more universal format. We have it all on tapes we can't edit.
- Made sure that there was a good spot, other than the dance floor, for the photographer to take the group shots during the reception (friends and such that we did not want to make stay at the church afterwards). This probably would not have happened if we'd had a better photographer (see above)
Those are the things I could probably do on the budget I had.
Given a lot more money, I would have had a different reception venue.
