  • In general I've just had a really blah day today.. not really sure why. I slept in till 8:30 so I should have felt great but nope that wasn't the case. I sat around all morning and didn't do too much, this afternoon DH had a Dr. appointment so we went and did groceries in Costco after that. Got home late, 7:30ish ate dinner, and now I'm just chilling on the couch feeling bored because I don't feel like doing anything.

Doesn't help I've had a slight headache all afternoon and it kinda went away but now it's back.

Tomorrow is Gall Bladder u/s day ugh... so no food tonight anymore or anything to drink once I go to bed. Not even a sip when I get up in the morning.. not looking forward to that because by the time my appointment rolls around at 8:30 I'll be starving and super thirsty!

  • I'm sorry johlise! That stinks. I have had 3 friends in the last year have their gall bladders out. That doesn't sound like fun at all.

  • It's a crummy situation but so normal for pregnant woman to get problems with it.. I guess I'll go with the flow.

Last night I said to MIL that as crappy as it is I'd take the problems that I've had over having to be on strict bedrest. Someone MIL works with has been on strict bedrest in the hospital for the last 4 weeks and they hope to keep her there as long as possible.

  • I don't wish even moderate bed rest, like I was on, to anyone. Not being able to do anything that you were normally allowed to do, go to work on a normal basis stinks.

  • I was on bedrest for a month one time after one of my foot surgeries. This after over a week in the hospital. I was going CRAZY!

I actually snuck out one night and drove around with my IV bag hanging on the inside roof of my car.

  • Yeah I can't imagine... I'll take the sciatica, gall bladder, morning sickness etc. then!

  • I was on bedrest for 8 weeks. I originally wanted to work right until the end but due to low fluid levels I couldn't. If I had just listened to myself and cut back my hours at work and gotten a chair so I could sit down, like the doctor gave me a note for, I probably would have been okay.

  • I'm a cashier at a grocery store. I was on my feet 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I didn't drink enough fluid either which didn't help.

What was moderate? Were you allowed to get up to shower and that is about it? How long were you on that? (I am sure I knew this - terrible memory)

  • Right now I work 32 hours a week and up until about a month ago I was only working 24 hours a week. There are times that 32 hours feels like too much.

No, I eventually healed and moved on. I was staying with my parents at the time so I am sure they knew and ignored me. I was a terrible patient when I was younger. I was stubborn, a smoker, and did "what I wanted". My reward was the bed rest.

Is this based on healing? Or all the work with E? I think either are a lot! It is tough to get back to FT after being PT for awhile.

For the first 4 weeks of the 8 I wasn't allowed to do much more than lay around. So for 4 weeks I was either in bed or on the couch and I only left the apartment for doctors appointments. For the last 4 weeks I was allowed a little more leniency. I could go for short walks but still nothing to strenuous.

  • My H and I agreed that for the rest of 2011 I would only work 24 hours a week. With Edmund having doctors appointments once a week from June to October it was easier. I went to 32 hours after the new year because it made paying bills less stressful. 3 days a week I work 8am to 5pm and the last couple weeks I have had one closing checker shift which is 2pm to 11pm or a closing self checkout shift which is 1pm to 930pm. It just depends on what the computer schedules me.

  • Good night Johlise! Hope you feel better soon.

It was rough but the results have been so worth it. We went from November until the end of January without a single doctors appointment. It's amazing how great that felt. Now we are just waiting for the phone call to get Edmund's next surgery on the books.

Nght Johlise! I will be thinking of you tomorrow!

I bet, I can only imagine! How many more surgeries will he have?

Right now we have a minimum of 1 more. It all depends on how the cleft in the gum line looks when they go in. If it is too wide they have to leave a hole and they then go in and take a bone graft out of the hip to fill it but they won't do that until he is 8 or 9. He may need another one to clean out scar tissue at some point. He also may need a nose job in his early teens if the nose isn't the way they want it to be.

Right now there are a lot of ifs. I have come to realize that I can only worry about the one that is certain. I would drive myself crazy if I worried about all the others that may happen eventually. I will worry about those when they tell us that he has to have them.
