Good morning!! I'm getting things started before I run off the the gym. I was there Monday and did 2 different squat routine and I felt it yesterday.
We scheduled a meeting with the High School's psychologist and Special Ed advisor too see what we need to do to help SS. We meet Thursday.
I made THE most tender pork tenderloin last night. Tonight I'm thinking....well I'm not sure about tonight.
I'm off talk to you all in a few hours.
Re: Hump Day Randomness
Good morning!
Deeder, I hope your meetings at the high school have a positive outcome.
Hmmm... I can't think of anything random to report on this morning.
I heard that on NPR this morning.
On localharvest.org some of the small citrus growers are offering free shipping. Thinking about ordering some but I think my husband would kill me because even with free shipping it is rather spendy. I've not made marmalade yet this year but have been wanting to . . . although I'm wary of using regular store oranges because I know they put wax and stuff on the rinds which is used in the marmalade.
Santorum kind of makes me nervous. Especially after reading this article http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/06/santorum-gets-testy-as-students-raise-social-issues/ he seems very closed minded and not willing to compromise. Although if he wasn't he'd be accused of being wishy washy. Ugh, I hate politics!
Morning ladies.
Deeder, I hope you guys can get some help for SS soon.
Wop- Sorry about your non casarole. I'm sure the fajitas were tasty.
I've got nothing to report today so far. Just trying to make the calendar move. But at the same time, I'm in a minor panic about employment. I gave myself a deadline for when I have to go another route if I don't get a job in the legal field. God willing, I won't have to do another job like this. I'm just not cut out for it.
So sleepy this morning. Gym locker room is closed through today, so I didn't work out yesterday or today, which I think is starting to get to me.
Having to be here extra early to turn in my paper yesterday and staying late to attend a lecture, and now my eyes don't want to be open. Hopefully this coffee takes effect soon.
My sister is at one of the rentals waiting for the stupidassplumberthatihatesomuch and said that the house is a complete mess and they lady has a cat there.
I'm annoyed. We said no pets, but she asked to have her dog there. We said sure, pay a pet deposit. And now she has a cat. So annoying. She didn't ask. I would have said no. I hate cats. (SORRY CAT LOVERS! Their pee smells so damn bad.)
Wop, sorry to hear about your dinner last night. That sounds so frustrating! At least you were able to save some of it for fajitas so it wasn't a total loss.
Molly, sorry to hear about the rental frustrations.
Jim left for TC this morning, and will be back on Friday. My poor kids are going to have early bed times tonight and tomorrow. I have the newest Anne Lamot book, and quiet alone time after the kids are sleeping. Wheeeee!
Deeder, I'm glad you've got those meetings planned. I hope they have some insight for you all.
Wop, I'm sorry about the dish. What a bummer.
Wendy, shipped citrus sounds so fantastic. Is there a way to get the wax off of store peels? Maybe an iron and paper towel around the fruit?
The marmalade is a great idea. I'll have to keep that in mind. My grandma in Florida sends us a box of Florida oranges for Christmas every year. I always struggle with what to do with it. It's a lot of oranges for two people to eat!
Even as a cat lover, I know they can destroy things quickly and completely understand why you said no cats. Trying to find a rental when we first moved here was HARD because we had 3 cats. And there is nothing worse than trying to get rid of cat pee smell. Hopefully it hasn't done any damage so far!
WOP - I've had to throw away a few dishes because of broken glass. Sucks!
DP -
Deeder - any special recipe you used? We love pork tenderloin, but I'm getting sick of the same marinade every time.
GRSP - hope the kids are good and go to bed so you can read! I've got Tina Fey's book and haven't been able to read it yet.
I've got tonight off work, since I have to work this weekend (grumble grumble). DH is working late so it's just Ben and I all day. And I'm being lazy and ordering pizza for dinner.
Thankfully, my sister said the only way she could tell that a cat lived there was because she saw it. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
BNG - fingers crossed you find a job you love!
(This is my attempt at keeping up with the randoms for once. It's TOUGH lol)
Can you charge a non refundable cleaning fee? Or an extra deposit for the cat?
Thanks Free!
Sneak cat = another fee, I say. Sorry to read that, Mol.
I know Santorum won last night, but I just can't take him seriously. I just don't think he has a chance in Nov.
B&G, transition times can be really nerve wracking. Good luck.
Thanks GRS- it is stressful, but we'll be ok. We have no choice.
Charity- I'm glad you're finding a way to get your car fixed. Yay for nice siblings
Yeah he is pretty much the nicest one of my siblings. The other ones think that they are better than everyone else.
Found it off Pinterest. http://www.candcmarriagefactory.com/2011/01/brown-sugar-and-balsamic-glazed-pork.html
What a relief, AND a great brother!
Yes indeed a great brother!
speaking of better than anyone else . . .
we really don't have that issue in my family. Three out of the four of us sisters went into nonprofit work so none of us are rolling in it.
However, it has been really fascinating to watch DH's circle of friends. They all met doing motocross in high school. There are four couples that still are quite close. One is an anesthesiologist (wife a SAHM), one works for the FBI (wife is a nurse), the other is a cement truck driver (wife does in home daycare) and DH is a tool & die engineer (I work for a nonprofit). As you can imagine there are huge differences in income. Only the anesthesiologist comes across as better than the rest, and only once in awhile. There was a fifth couple, a pediatrician and his wife, but they sort of drifted off and did their own thing.
I totally understand why you're upset because she didn't ask. I feel like that's not okay. But not all cats pee where they aren't supposed to and dogs are probably more likely to have accidents inside. I think having a pet owner (of any kind) pay additional rent and/or a deposit is perfectly fine *just in case.*
It's definitely helping.
In Con Law today we talked about a steamship that ran on the Grand River between Grand Rapids and Grand Haven in the 1870's. It totally made me homesick. I live ~3 miles from where the Grand meets Lake Michigan and just love being surrounded by all that water.
I am cracking up at myself and my odd desire to refute this statement. I don't want to turn randoms into a cats vs. dogs thing, though.
In order to improve communication and ease the frustration from the lack of it, I asked TH to make a list of household projects that need to be completed, when he wants to do it, and how long he thinks it will take. This way I can make plans with the girls and give him time and space to work.
There are are rooms of the house on that list. Two rooms, he can't start until we get the new windows. The third room has a few items, but then we need to get the windows put in before we paint it and the fourth room he wants to wait until spring so he can set up everything outside.
We pay our last furnance payment this month, so I already getting quotes for new windows. I want to jump on this project, so we can wrap up everything. However, I am REALLY dreading seeeing these quotes.
