So, we moved out on Sunday and they have been working this week. Not a lot done yet, but it's so exciting to see the old crap out.
I went by today and took some pics. My before pics are on my camera, but here is what it looked like today
Here is our bedroom. In here we are doing new flooring, bedding, ceiling fan without light, recessed lighting and sconces. We are also replacing those french doors that led to the bathoom and took up too much space and replacing it with the door below.

The bathroom as a whole. We are getting closets rebuilt (the left is clothes and the right is for laundry. We are organizing them in a way to make them more useable even though we don't have more room. Also the ones on the left had two doors with a wall in between which we ripped out and are putting 3 sliding doors in so we can access more.
We are getting new everything here (toilet, cabinets, sink stuff) but keeping the light and the mirror but those are getting raised. We had the shortest freaking cabinets in the world before.

Our shower. We are adding a wall of tile to partially close it off and also making a bench and shelves for bathroom junk
And here is the shower tile we are using. We are doing a hopscotch pattern with 4 different sizes. I want to marry this tile. I love it deeply. It is cleft, so it has a texture to it which I also love
And finally, here is the reason I am so glad to not be in our house. This is our living/dining area leading toward the kitchen. Totally unlivable!
I would be happy to share pics of our fixtures too, but I am not sure if anyone is bored enough for or interested enough in that.
Re: Since it's slow- House renovation
oh and we don't have our final exact colors but we are doing mustard for the walls and chocolate brown as accents (closet doors, cabinets, etc) in both rooms
And no more chair rail and wainscoting in the bathroom.
This is so exciting! Makes me want a place of my own so bad.
Am I remembering right that this is an older house?
Fun! I love that door that you are putting in.
I have so many things I want to do to our house. But, money and laziness, too much of one, not enough of the other.
This is my favorite type of house. The historic homes are creeping up in price here, though. I could buy a new construction (granted, nothing upgraded or fancy) 3/2 in the 'burbs for cheaper than I could get a 2/1 older home in a few areas of the city.
Why are you replacing the flooring in the bedroom and what with?
Our reno starts this weekend too. Nothing big -- just FINALLY starting on finishing the basement family room space. We both have tomorrow off so we can move everything out of the way. I also need to select what washing machine to buy before they put up the handrail for the stairs since it'll be easier to put in while that's all open.

Getting started was hard. We would look at things, get overwhelmed with options and not know what to pick out first.
We ended up starting with the sink
This is our sink, but in black
Kohler Demilav Wading Pool
Here is our faucet
It's from Cifial and has no pretty name
The terlet, from Toto (not the bidet). Also in black
This is our handheld shower nozzle and controls for the shower from Kohler Simplicity. We also have the matching hotel towel rack, toilet paper rolls, etc
And this is our rainforest shower head from Hansgrohe, only ours will be wall mount with an arm and not from the ceiling
You cannot tell but that is actually subflooring and it is so terribly terribly uneven. We are having to float it out majorly. We are replacing it with porcelain tile (it will be the same tile across both rooms. And then we will do an area rug in the bedroom.
It is similar to this, but I don't think this is exactly it
I was thinking the other day I just need to start making a list of what I'd like to see done and then keeping notes when I find stuff we like.
I love the idea of the black terlet and that shower looks uh-mazing.
Dammit...now I want to start ripping stuff up.
That's what I'm afraid of and the reason they're still there 2 years later.
Why would you bother doing that when you'll be living here by then?

Im pretty sure you can rent a tile saw.
For less then ten cents a day, you can feed a hungry child.
Ah fun!! I love your stuff! We are all caught up in this stuff too. I've really enjoyed the whole process, lots of fun stuff out there to choose from.
So when do they expect it all to be done?
Six year plan? Oof. Sorry, man.
