It's been announced that Cabela's is opening in Grandville next to the Mall. Thoughts??

What?!  Is this for real, or is this like when Cabela's was supposed to open a store in Walker?

GRSP, I think you should get a spot in the MoDiv space for your shop.

  • I so want another kitten but we are only allowed 2 cats in the apts. Oh well. Maybe some day.

  • My company sent me sympathy flowers at work because of my grandpa.  They are really pretty.  Totally made my day.

Your company sounds like they really make an effort to take care of people.  I find that's rare.

  • Its actually pretty decent outside as temperature wise. Well that's what I think.

They do, it's nice.  I hope that doesn't change when the company that bought us fully takes over in September.

  • "Daycare called."  My least favorite words to say at work.

Off to a doctor's appointment later this afternoon.  Sigh.

I joined the student section of the GR bar and some GR groups on LinkedIn last night. Revving up my networking engine!

I am part of the GR bar student section too.  A little birdie also told me their young lawyers section is very active, so I joined that too.

  • Yay to flowers and boo to sick kiddos.

Hope T is on the mend soon.

  • Not having been to a Cabela's, I have no idea how it compares to Gander Mountain. Or why people actually still shop in stores ;-) I hate shopping with a passion. It's kind of funny, actually. I only go to the mall about once a year for our annual shopping trip with MIL, DH and SIL. MIL once suggested to DH that SIL and I go shopping together when DH is hunting and he laughed so hard.

I love shopping, but can definitely see why people don't!  :)

Thanks.  :)  I have a feeling it's another ear infection.  I wonder at what point they do tubes?  I had them put in when I was younger.

  • My mom came over last night to play with T/keep us company because H has bowling on Wednesday nights (he offered to stay home, but I really wanted to spend time with my mom Stick out tongue) and she brought me a box of chocolates for a Valentines gift.  So sweet.
  • I haven't been in Cabela's, but order online from them my outdoor boots a few years ago.  I love them.  Good quality, good price.

I think it's a good step to getting some big stores on the East side of the state.  Next, Trader Joe's or Whole Foods and REI please.

  • I enjoy shopping when I'm a) in the right mood, b) with the right person or alone, and c) at the right shopping center.

On that note, we're planning to hit up the outlets in Howell soon.  Looking forward to it!

Annnnd JuliD threw accelerant on my puppy fever....

Kasa, I think you need twin puppies.

Thanks, that's helpful.  Stick out tongue

Puppies don't come potty trained.  Are you up for all that cleaning, late night crying, letting out, etc.

    Does that help?

L is so anti dog, probably more than your B.  I think he'd be more up for human babies.

We are going there this weekend on our way to Ikea.

    Mmm, bargin shopping.  So delicious.

We talked about extending the shopping excursion and visiting Ikea (seriously).  I think we're going to just stick to Howell, though.

    Yes, thanks, friend!

Also, how did we manage to marry the same person?

LOL, no idea.  I'm still sticking with twins separated at birth.

  • Older puppies might come house trained.  Greta was 10 weeks and totally followed Arlo's lead.  He trained her for us.  Of course, she was a tough girl from the streets.  Maybe that had something to do with it? ;)

Dudes.  Jim taught on Tuesday night.  They had a discussion about steriods.  Most of the students are also athletes.  They didn't think taking them were a big deal, and that they wished people just dropped the subject all together.

Then Jim shared the side effect of shrunken testicles.  He may have changed some minds...

That's neat about Arlo and Greta.

I've been wondering how class is going for Jim.  I bet that was an interesting discussion about steroids.

  • Since we're talking about puppies...

This is Cedar. She's 1.5. I thought my SIL was dropping her off for the duration of her 3 week externship, until she (SIL) started crying and saying that she can't have her (Cedar) around her two little dogs because the little dogs hurt themselves playing with her... So.

    Cedar

She really is a darling sweetheart, but she's crapped or vomited in the house every day since we "got" her.

Wow!  I will hold back from comment on your SIL's reasoning.  But Congrats on the new addition!  Hopefully it's just some nerves in the transition - G had accidents when we first got him but those were gone w/in the first month.

    This is Cedar.

So... is Cedar yours forever now?

Is she stressed out because of her new home and that's why she's making a mess?

    How does Clapton like her?

She looks super cool.  I hope she settles in soon and stops causing so much aggravation.

  • Cedar is ours for the long term.

I do think she's stressed out, it's a much different environment from what she's used to (a college apartment with two little dogs).

In addition to the environment, I'm sure we treat her a lot differently than my SIL did. Jared and I are both mildly allergic to her, so she's not allowed to cuddle with us on the bed or our upstairs couch (I've given up on the downstairs couch, we're getting a new one in a couple of weeks and it's been Clapton's forever anyway...) Also, SIL is neurotic, especially about her dogs. Two of them are on allergy shots, they all get different foods, one or the other of the two smaller ones is always confined in some way because of some injury (this happened often before Cedar came as well)

Some of you may remember when she went to get Cedar, she drove all the way to New York against the advice of her parents and Jared and myself (she asked me to drive there with her...) This whole situation has been borked from the beginning. *Sigh* Thanks for reading my novel.

    Wow.

Well, that was very nice of you to take Cedar in, especially with being allergic.

  • JGE, that's awesome of you guys to take Cedar in.  Your SIL put you in a really crummy position.
