When we were dating Jim played board games with me all the time.  After we got married, he told me he doesn't really enjoy them.  Misrepresentation!

Right now family game night is me hyping it up to Jim, who gets competitive with our small children.  Willa pouts if she isn't in the lead, and Henry usually ends up wandering off or spreading small pieces.

This is why we're doing family movie night instead. ;)

Jim knew how to woo you.

And your description of family game night at your house is pretty funny.  The kids will probably be more cooperative in a couple years.  Not so sure about Jim, though!

What's for lunch today?  I kind of want to treat myself.  Ideas?

Leftovers for me -- sweet and sour chicken (homemade).

So... maybe Chinese take-out if you want to treat yourself?

(Most) Burger King's are starting their new menus today.  Wraps, new salads, real fruit smoothies, frappes, etc.  (How's that for a shameless plug?)

Nothing sounds good to me right now except a blue raspberry slurpee.  :(

I want to hit a salad bar, but will likely just make us turkey and cheddar paninis with sour dough bread.

  • I have left over beef roast to eat. Not looking forward to it but oh well

  • I threw up on myself this morning.

And no, I am not going to explain how that happened.

Thankfully, unlike my son, I am not sick.  Poor T man got sick again last night around 10:30.  H is at home with him today.  The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with him yesterday (which is great!  Means no ear infections.  Whew.)  And H just told me he's been asking for eggs - finally - he hasn't kept down food since Monday, or even been interested in it.  Fingers crossed he's on the mend.

  • Thanks GRSP- I'll relax April 14 at 11:50AM (the moment the proctor will say "time is up"). I'm also fairly certain you will hear my victory scream from Auburn Hills. So no worries girls.. it's just me shouting for joy!

Lunch- Jimmy Johns. I'm hungry too!

  • Oh, Mol.  Ick, and I'm sorry.  I've been there.  For 1/10 of a second, I almost slipped on FB when you said you thought you might be getting T's flu.  "Are you sure it isn't morning sickness" was the thought that I did not type.  Phew, close call. ;)

Here's hoping for a smooth closing next week.

Kasa, are you valentines handmade, or are they the storebought kind?  I'm imagining B hiding a bunch of Tinkerbell and Transformers cards and giggling.

  • GRsp - That is hilarious about Jim.

Sorry! is the board game of choice in the Hoek house. Mike wins 9 times out of 10. I am not always the most gracious loser. He bought this shirt for me after a particularly rough game night.

  • I decided against applying for that job again, and I'm really happy with my decision.  :)

With everything I've got going on right now I thought it wouldn't be a good time to add another new thing.  Something will come up when I am ready.  :)

  • Awww Mol- I hope lil man keeps getting better.

Was it because of the lil nugget you're growing this morning? Morning sickness is pretty high on my fears of pregnancy list.

HAHAHA!  I love this!  So awesome.

I am a sore, sore loser.  I get that from my grandpa.  We are so so so competitive and hate to lose.

  • B&G, I'll stand on my front porch on that day and time and salute you from the West!

    Hoek, that shirt is hilarious!

Mol, I'm glad you're happy with that choice.  Something WILL come up when you're ready.  In the meantime, enjoy that window, and the root of stability that your position holds when everything else is more hectic than usual.

Yes, morning sickness today.  This pregnancy has been a breeze compared to my last one (so far, and morning sickness-wise only.)

I have an u/s on 2/27.  I was thinking, if everything is still looking good then, of announcing on FB after that.  I would be 9w2d at that point.  Is that still too early?

Wanting to eat seems like a very good sign! Hope he is back to normal soon.

  • Molly, glad to hear T seems to be feeling better.

GRSP, they're store-bought valentines with puppies and kittens on them.  Also, how many come in a box!?  I think I've found about 18 so far.  He won't tell me how many are left out there.

    Hoek, that shirt is awesome!

B and I like to play games.  But we have a hard tme finding fun games that are good for two people.  (If only I could get him to play Scrabble!)

Friends, if you like non-kid board games, we got a couple of good ones for Christmas.  Wits and Wagers is a neat, fun game.  Also Bezzerwizzer.  Both are trivia games.  And we got an expansion pack for Settlers of Cataan (woot!).  And we got Over Under, which I would not recommend -- it's not very fun (possibly because I absolutely, totally suck at it.)  Our friends and family know that we like games, I guess!

  • Kasa, if he doesn't like Scrabble, he probably won't enjoy enjoy this one, but the only game I can get Jim to play with just me is Banagrams.  Pretty fun.

I've played that with my mom, but he hasn't.  It's possible that he might like it more than Scrabble since there is the speed element.

  • Kasa- I looked up Wits and Wagers and that looks like a fun game!

D&MJ - Sounds like you are making a great decision about the job. You are right, something will come up when you are ready. Ditto GRsp, enjoy the sunshine and stability.

  • Speaking of games, I convinced B and my brother to try out for family feud. But of course the show is on hiatus right now.  They keep telling me that there are tryouts on FB. I don't have an account but they won't sign us up.

I've watched enough FF in the last 4 months (old and new) to know most of the questions. The recycle them tee hee!!! $20,000 and possibly a new car? Yes please!

Orange juice and sparkling water together is kind of like a mimosa.  I used to make mock mojitos when I was pg too.  Sparkling water, fresh limes, little bit of simple syrup and mint.

Do you like fruity drinks? On Valentine's day I had pink lemonade, sprite and a scoop of raspberry sherbet. It was sweet/tart.

This virgin margarita recipe sounds good. I may have to try it soon.

Good one, Wop! I have fresh mint right now, too.

  • Thanks Wop!  I'll have to get my hands on some sparkling water.

That fruity drink sounds like heaven!

We are going to a White Sox/Tigers tailgate party/the game in April in Chicago and obviously everyone will be drinking, so I was thinking of treating myself to some extra special liquor-free cocktails.  :)

  • Dangit - I want to eat lunch now!

  • D&M: Do you like Cherry Limeades? DH make his own version with Simply Limeade and Old Orchard Wild Cherry Juice.

Freeburger: What documents are you still waiting on?

I live with the any board game boys. I loved them growing up but I don't have anyone to play with. We do movie nights here.

I'm going to be watching a friend's daughter here in a little bit. The wee one calls me Aunt Dede. She cute and DH can nearly handle it. He is pretty convinced if we ever had a child and it was a girl he would be a goner and cave to her every whine.

Can you tell me what it's like to have an H that can do all the dirty work for this kind of thing?

He's pretty awesome.  I like him.  Smile  He may not be able to remodel the kitchen like some husbands, but our taxes and mortgages are ship-shape!

Speaking of him, I am still finding valentines.  This morning I found one tucked in my box of coffee filters!

The valentine thing was super sweet!  You need to have B to tell his twin to get on something like that Stick out tongue

I'm guessing that any future mortgage hunting will be my area in the future.  Somehow I have a feeling L will love using the phrase "Let me have my attorney take a look at that..." Wink
