Poll: Have you ever been flamed on TN/TK/TB?
And if so, what about? Did you deserve it?
Re: Poll: Have you ever been flamed on TN/TK/TB?
Yes! I came to the knot years ago (on wedding woes) when I was engaged complaining about my (nown ex-FI) FI's mother. I got flamed and rightfully so, because it wasn't a FMIL problem, it was definitely a FI problem.
I think I left him about 2-3 weeks after the post where I got flamed. It helped nudge me in a direction that I was already headed in.
Yes but I can't remember why. I've been here too long. LOL
Doglove, when were you on Wedding Woes? I was on that board before we all got booted to the Nest. That was around 2005.
You people used to think I was smug. And now you love me.
I've definitely been flamed for other stuff, but I honestly can't remember! Nothing was extra traumatic!
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
This was probably in late 2007, maybe very early in 2008.
I got flamed for going BSC and flipping out on a CVS worker. I totally deserved it.
I also got flamed back on TK but don't remember what it was about.
I got flamed on Pets because when we took in Callie dog she chewed EVERYTHING. She has separation anxiety and was even getting on counters and pulling things down from there. I got flamed for "caring about my stuff over the dog!" Which wasn't true, I was just trying to point out how bad it was. Poor pup had been through 4 homes before she was even a year old, we definitely weren't going to get rid of her!
On the plus side-Callie hasn't chewed through anything in a good 6 months!
And she is super cute:
I got flamed for saying I was gonna marry BF one day (right after we started dating). I was trying to be flameworthy though, and it worked.
I've also been flamed in the course of a board war here and there, but I don't remember any specifics.
After 6 years? Most definitely I've been flamed. Never on my local Knot board (I was probably the flamER back there), but definitely on P&E (now E) in the past. Sometimes warranted, sometimes very much NOT warranted. There was a certain posted (and we shant speak her name lest she reppear
) who went all stalker crazy after a gtg, and brought things on-board; it wasn't pretty. On the nest, I'm pretty sure I have been on the Politics board (where I've spent most of my time, and, again, I'd say it's been a mixture of me saying something stoopid, and people having a bad day).
::shrug::
Whatever, though. It's the interwebz, right?

Oh yes, quite a few times but nothing bad lately.
However Lovestruck took the worst beating I have ever seen. Poor guy was crucified for asking about how to deal with allergies resulting from his GF cats. Dude spent at least a week in the burn unit after that one.
Yes, I got flamed on TN on my first ever post. I posted something about child and how H was too immature to have children.
I was told that if I felt that way I shouldn't have married him because he was too immature for marriage and obviously I was too immature for marriage too...
I was afraid to come back to TN for weeks (thus proving my maturity level at the time).
Precisely! Nothing in particular prompted this poll today, but sometimes posters get all butthurt and YOU DONT KNOW MY LYFE!!!!!11!! over being flamed, and I was just thinking how most of us have probably been flamed at some point, and it was quite possibly deserved/needed, but somehow, we got over it and even possibly learned from it!
Exactly this. There are definitely a few people who I know IRL on here (like most of the Politics posters - we have frequent gtg around the country), so if THEY'RE flaming me, I've probably said something idiotic. Elsewhere on the boards? I mean, I'll take a look at what I said, but I'm not going to go sob into a pillow because some interwebz strangers don't like what I've said, kwim?

On TIP? I mean, I could see that happening on WC (especially given that my meatloaf recipe has both CoC soup AND an onion soup mix packet in it), but that's just funny that it happened on TIP!
YES! It was a big to-do, too, something like 3 or 4 pages of meatloaf war. To this day it's still referred to as Meatloafgate.
I got flamed for marrying my X the day after he asked me. We had been together for 2 years and had talked about getting married for a while. I was apart of the ring shopping... so it wasn't a big surprise.
In the end it had nothing to do with why we are not together. We had decided to "elope" in order to save money way before he ever asked.
Did I deserve it? IDK, maybe in some sense... did it bother me? A little, but only because people thought that had married him because I was KU... I didn't. I wasn't pregnant when we got married. There is nothing wrong with getting married WHILE pregnant, but I would not get married BECAUSE I am pregnant. It bothered me that people had the wrong idea.
I was flamed about being really frustrated caring for my very sick, elderly FIL (who subsequently passed away). I know my initial post did not not come across as the most empathetic, and I guess I was not "regular" enough for people to remember my ongoing frustrations.
Is it weird that we remember these specific situations??
Were you the one whose FIL pooped on the floor?
Oh, totally different board after 2005. Wedding Woes used to be the ML board of the Nest.
Kuus, I remember the meatload stuff. Was it about the time it takes to cook a meatloaf? Someone saying 4 hours and someone else saying 7 hours? Good times.
Well, it was 30 mins vs 4 hours, so you were close. There was also some disagreement on cooking temperature, and whether or not a crust was desirable.
I'm a little baffled by your Wedding Woes comments, though. The Knot Relationships board folks all moved to Wedding Woes at the dawn of The Nest, and while some people have left the boards entirely, a core contingent of us are still the WW regulars. Are you sure it was us that you were talking to?
Yes, I remember when the RE board on TK took over WW. I left WW in 2005 after TK kept sending me here and found that ML had a similar spirit. So I stayed here. I remember PrincessPizz, ButtercupBev, Ennui....good times. I visited WW a year or 2 ago and it was different. People talked about wedding stuff.
