My thing is I think I'm fashionable when I bother but then I see people go apeshiit for stuff like the Jason Wu for Target dress that to me, looked like a dressed up hospital gown. Then I think I must be clueless or something.

When I find something I like, i tend to just buy it in whatever other colors it comes in. So I would just look like a cartoon character in the same thing every day just in different colors. Not worth the trouble.

I don't get the Jason Wu love, either. I like what I like and that's all fashion is.

  • I quickly just scanned for pics and this is what I remember:

Moo-- i love the tights. If I had to dress for work, that's prob how it would look

Kristen- Only you can pull off horizontal stripes. I wouldn't even pull that off the rack.

Katie- I like the scarf. I never know how to wear them so I don't.

    Buddha- LOVE the necklace.

Okla- untucked. Good color on you.

  • I just ate buffalo chicken enchiladas and watched Glee.  Now I am getting back to work.

I like scrolling through the OOTD pictures, and taking my own picture breaks up the monotony of my mornings.  Other than that, I can't say I have many feelings about it.

  • What's not to get about Ootd? Clothes and the like are fun, and it's interesting to see how other people express themselves. And it's nice to have a sounding board to get opinions, and a place to get ideas to try - it generally brightens up the 9-5 grind.

And ego stroking or not, it seems to make a lot of people feel good about themselves, and they should feel good, and I like that they do.

    So there.

....I also don't get the Jason Wu. Although I don't dislike it. I just don't get the "must-have" factor.

  • Moo, I am sorry I forgot you today. And you looked really good too! I happen to really like OOTD. First off, I like trying out looks I'm not 100% sold on. Second, it's made me realize how much clothing I own and that I have absolutely no need to go shopping. Finally, it's great to get some positive reinforcement.

  • Moo. I just looked back and your rack looks good today. Boom.

  • Hey, I'm just saying it's not my cup of tea. Do your thing.

  • Who is Jason Wu?  Is he Missoni's cousin or something?

I agree.  I liked a couple of the pieces.  But Brett and my mom both offered to buy me pieces as a gift (which is a ridiculous way to get around my shopping freeze) and I turned them down.  I'm glad I did.

  • Yeah peony, one day when I a grow up I'll get it right.

Yeah missoni cousin except with more shapeless frocks.

On the whole ootd thing how do you resize a photo? Speak to me like I am stupid.

Well, I am angry because I have been waiting for you to post in ootd.

SO NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

I read your blog and you loved the hospital gown w/the pearls (as did that other F&B blog girl). Made me question my fashion sanity.

  • I bought one of the Jason Wu sweaters and one of the snap buttons ripped off the first time I put it on.  I was not impressed.

I just had my first facebook fight, so that was fun.

  • I'm a vouyer I suppose. I like seeing what everyone is wearing, or hearing what they're having for dinner, even.  And it puts a smile on my face seeing my friends' faces on the daily. I also feel like participating has made me a little more conscious of what I wear. Like, I'm less likely to wear the same shoes and accessories day to day. And Moo, you looked lovely. I didnt realize I'd missed you. Today was nuts!

Your job is causing me anxiety.

  • I liked the Jason Wu dress with the flowers and the yellow belt. When I tried it on it looked like a potato sack on me, and the belt didn't help. I don't usually participate in OOTD because I wear pretty boring clothes and I don't have much of an excuse to get new cute stuff. T-shirts, jeans, sneakers or privos. I did take a terrible picture of myself all drunk on our date on Sunday though because I thought my rack looked good. I'm totally in a men's bathroom because the lady in the women's room was taking for fuccking ever.

My ILs left yesterday. The kids have been off the wall today. I think they're overtired and have realized how boring I am.

  • You were correct. Your rack looks fantastic.

    Confirmed.

  • Great rack.

  • I like your rack, Noisy.  It's real big.

I don't really post in the OOTD looking for compliments.  I actually only post in there because I don't feel it's fair for me to ogle everyone else's outfits without sharing my own.  What I'm wearing usually isn't all that interesting or fashionable.  I wear maybe one outfit a week that I figure I'll get positive comments on, but I can't deny that I am loving all the skinny comments you guys are giving me.  Like Moo, it's nice having people who would compliment me on the times I do look nice since my coworkers suck.  I could shave my head and come to work wearing my wedding dress and no one would notice/say anything.  Bastards.  This is why I never bothered with makeup.

I do really appreciate any criticism or suggestions people want to throw my way.  There's a 75% chance I'm not going to listen, but you never know!

  • Moo, your sweater today looked very much like something I would own. I figure some days you'll get some love, others not. I think I got one comment today? Meh.

You guys will be happy to know as of like half an hr ago, okla was untucked.

Noisu, I do love your rack. The scarf confused me and I stared at it for a solid minute.  I think the colors are off on my phone.

  • It's a poorly lit bathroom so it's definitely the picture, probably not your phone. The scarf doesn't look like a lump of flesh in real life, it's more of a yellowy gold (to match my yellowy gold shoes, of course).

  • i thought i'd weigh in on this OOTD discussion a day late and a dollar short! i'm timely.

i participate for a few different reasons. one, it's kind of fun. two, it makes me more accountable for my daily appearance, which is good because it coincides with some of my self improvement goals/resolutions. three, it is a 'safe' way to step out of my comfort zone (because people have been so positve and nice) and i feel like that is good for my confidence, and i like to be able to return the favor to the other participants. four, i find it allows me to indulge my creative urges, and i can get feedback in real time of whether my occasionally zany clothing combinations work or if i am deluding myself.

i also think the 365 project was a gateway to posting in these. lol.

Ha!  Yeah, when not one, but two people told me it looked like a hospital gown, I decided maybe I was wrong about it.

The blue floral dress Noisy is talking about was my favorite.  Plus Michelle Obama wore it.  Extra points there.

  • moo, you look great.  I sometimes don't comment because frankly what the hell do I know.  If I love something I'll probably say it until I realize I've said the same thing to too many people and then I feel dumb.

I like OOTD for the same reasons Katie mentioned.  It gives me ideas, gets me out of being lazy and wearing the same old outfits.  Lets me know if I'm committing a fashion faux pas because nobody sees me until I get to work and I certainly don't work with a lot of fashion experts so nobody else is going to tell me I look awful.

    Noisy, nice rack indeed!

  • I'm a creepy stalker lurker when it comes to OOTD.  I think you guys always look great.  As I have stated in the past, I will not participate because I make zero effort in terms of my personal fashion.  But, I really like seeing what you guys put together because it makes me think about trying it out.  I need to kick myself in the ass and put myself together better.
