S/O Where do YOU find the time?
Re: S/O Where do YOU find the time?
I'm in a lucky position. I'm a SAHM and both of my children go to a MDO/preschool on MWF. Previous to the holidays last year (I know. I know. It's been a long time), I would run after I dropped them off at school. On Saturdays, my sister and I both go to WW at 8:30, so we'll workout an hour before our meeting.
When I was working, DH would drop DS off at daycare. I would head to the gym at 5:30 and workout for an hour, shower, change, and get to the office by 7:30.
Working out and exercise has to be a priority. I'm still trying to find the balance between a consistent exercise habit AND watching my diet. I tend to fall into the trap of believing that since I'm working out then I can eat what I want. Ha! Obviously, that doesn't work if your goal is weight loss.
The big thing for me is to get up and into the office on time/early in the AM, get my *** done, and try to get out with enough time to workout in the evening.
I'm not a morning person, so morning workouts are tough.
I also make sure to fit in 2 weekend workouts, so my rest days are during the week when I have more scheduling challenges.
Two days a week I go to the gym around 8pm with DH. I almost always go Saturday mornings and sometimes Sunday mornings, too. And several times a week I go on my lunch break. I'm not a morning person so early morning workouts are a no-go for me. For a long time I HATED going at 8pm because it was so hard to get motivated once I had been home for that long. But DH kept dragging me with him and now I'm used to it and don't mind too much. Most of the time.

Like several of you, Dh and I do not have any children, so we don't have to worry about childcare. Working parents that are able to stay physically fit for their children are just awesome to me.
My schedule varies week to week, as does DH's. Our "usual" Monday routine includes a run (or in the summer ride) that ends at the grocery store where we'll finish up our weekly shopping (I usually stop and buy the bulk of the groceries elsewhere when I've got the car)--and get dinner for that night. We kill two birds with one stone that way.
DH is able to ride his bike to work. In the spring, sometimes I'll run to the school where he coaches track and we'll drive home together. I don't love working out in the mornings, but if I look at the week and see no alternative, I'll either go for a run, or do a video in the morning. It's not that I'm not a morning person, but if I work out in the AM, I'm always ravenous the rest of the day and eat WAY more than if I work out at night. If I have committed to something after work that I might be able to walk or ride my bike to, I'll do it. There are several (more casual) restaurants that we can easily jog or ride our bikes to, and we'll do that, though we don't always consider that our "workout" it's a way for us to get some activity in on days that we can't do an actual workout, or a way to get some time on the move when we can. Otherwise, we don't eat dinner until the workout is done. Get home, change, workout, then eat dinner.
I'm a stay at home mom, so finding the time isn't an issue for me.
And maybe I should save this for a flame free confession, but I think sahms who claim they never have time to work out are full of it.
I insist on working out Friday after work, and sometime Saturday and Sunday. I consider my workout week starting on Friday, so by the time Monday rolls around I already have three days in for the week. That way, Monday through Thursday if I can get in 2 workouts I am happy. From there, the perfect week would be to rest on Monday, workout Tuesday and Wednesday and make Thursday a lighter day, like roller blading with the kids or just taking a walk. On the days during the week I plan to workout, I plan for a quick meal or cook it the night before. While the kids are doing their homework, I work out and then I afterwards I sit and go over it with them.
I like evening workouts. I think it is the best feeling to get a good workout in, shower and get to relax for a bit before bed.
It's just part of my routine now. No matter what time I come home, I eat dinner, digest and then go workout (either on my elliptical in the basement, with the Wii or outside if it's light enough). It's just not an option to NOT work out.
I can't convince myself to get up any earlier, so I prefer the evening.
This is me!!! I just don't do yoga. I get up at 4 am M-F to do my workout. They last between 30 mins to an hour, shower, get dressed, get my bfast/lunch ready, walk the dog, give him(dog) his insulin, feed and crate him, kiss DH bye and I'm out the door before 6 am!
I like my evenings free as well. I get to spend time with DH, the dog, I have a second job 2 nights a week, sometimes I work Saturdays in the morning.
So on the weekends, I workout whenever or take a rest day, which is usually Saturdays.
I am totally not a morning person, especially in the dark of winter, but I get up at 5:30 three times a week to run. I like to get it out of the way and I have more energy then than at the end of a long day.
On days I don't run, I try to fit in something either with DS busy doing something else, or wait until he's in bed for the night.
On weekends, it's a bit easier with DH here. I usually go for a longer run on Sundays, which is DH's day to get up with DS.
I don't so much FIND the time as MAKE the time.
So do I! I hate getting up early, and getting up for work is too early already. I do it after work and on the weekends. I have been known to run on my lunch break when its a nice day, but that doesn't happen too often.

I hate early mornings, so I ride after work. I have for 15 years, so it's part of my life. During DST I love knowing that there are group bike rides every evening. This usually gives me an hour between work and having to be at the ride to get errands and "stuff" done. This time of year I come home and get on the trainer as soon as I can, so that I have the evening free. I ride 3 nights/week and both days on the weekends. I find the other 2 nights/week I need off to do anything else I need to and to relax.

I've gotten a job at a local nia/pilates/yoga studio so I have to get my cross training in because it's my job. I work the front desk in turn for being able to go to certain classes for free.
Treating working out like it's my job has made sticking to a schedule much easier as a SAHM.
